Kay Smith Obituary

"Kay Cole Smith, age 83, a resident of Monarch Landing in Naperville, IL, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2023. She was born on October 3, 1939 in Dallas, TX. Kay was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary D. Smith. She is survived by her loving daughters, Dana (Kenneth) Dunn and Lisa (Cooper) Avery; her cherished grand-daughter, Rose (Cory Merchant) Coffey and great-grandson, Oliver Merchant; her dear sister, Dixie (Curtis) Randall; as well as her niece, Susan (Riley) Johnson and nephew, Cole Spencer. Kay graduated from North Dallas High School. She met the love of her life, Gary Smith, attending church when she was 13 years old and married at 18. They were married for 39 years until Gary's passing in 1997. She had a long career in accounting and was manager of her department for many years. She devoted her life to God and was always involved with her church and ministries. A ministry that was close to her heart was Compassion International where she sponsored many children throughout their childhood. Kay enjoyed watching sports and was particularly fond of the Cubs. She was a loyal friend and very involved with her family. She enjoyed traveling with her friends and family to share experiences and make memories. She showed kindness and love to everyone in her life. Kay will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Services will be held on Monday, May 15th at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243. "
