Carol Hodge, 87, of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania died Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at her residence. She was the widow of the late Dr. Hugh P. Hodge and later in life, Abraham Wohl. Born in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Eleanor (Margoes) Phillips. Carol worked as a kindergarten teacher and loved her time with children. She had a giving nature and was a gracious hostess, always greeting people with a smile. Taking trips to the beach, especially the Jersey Shore were treasured moments for her. Carol cherished her dogs and loved shepherds and Newfoundlands. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed. She is survived by her son Craig Hodge, daughter Susan Hodge; daughter-in-law Jeanine Silvani; grandchildren: Brogan Hodge; Shannon, Jane, and Christina Silverman; and cherished cousins Patricia and Thomas Kelly. Carol was preceded in death by her two sons, Keith and Gary. Fr. Patricia “Pat” Stossel, 82, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania died Monday, February 19, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospice House in East Stroudsburg surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of the late Edward Stossel with whom she had shared almost 60 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2022. Born in Barnesboro, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter to the late Michael and Theresa (Kocik) Most. Pat was employed as an accounts manager in investments at Wachovia Bank during her working career. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg where she was extremely active, serving as lector, eucharistic minister, adult altar server for funerals, and volunteer in the Parish office. Pat was also an avid exerciser. She was a kind and loving woman with a contagious smile. She made an impact on everyone she came in contact with. Pat is survived by her son, Michael Stossel and his wife, Jennifer of East Stroudsburg; daughter Debra Bowlby and her husband, Jonathan of Phillipsburg, N.J; grandchildren: Ashley Gilliland (Leif), Alyson Cole, Amanda Dickison (Jonathan), Nickolas Stossel and Kimberly Stossel. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Theresa Stossel, siblings: Victor Most, Mary Smith, Agnes Leslie, Elizabeth Most and Margaret Rouse. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Church of St. Luke, 818 Main Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360 with Father Donald J. Williams as celebrant. Mary was employed as a secretary for Prentice Hall Publishing Company and also for a law office and AAA. Prior to moving to Pennsylvania, she was a member of St. Joseph’s of the Palisades Catholic Church in West New York where she was a member of the choir. She was the most forgiving, loving, and caring person you could meet. She never spoke ill of anyone and always helped others. She had a great sense of humor and was quick with a comeback. Mary enjoyed watching baseball games on TV or Jeopardy, knowing most of the answers. His passion for detail is what made him both unique and one of a kind. His work can be found from Buck Hill Falls and throughout the entire East Coast.He is survived by his sons, Coty William Jony and his fiancé Samara Bush and Travis Charles Jony and his fiancé Ashley Kehm, both of Monroe County. Toby B. Contento, 82, formerly of Allentown and Florida died Wednesday, January 31, 2024 surrounded by family at Spring Village at Pocono, East Stroudsburg. She was the widow of Victor Contento and the former wife of the late Alvin Kanofsky. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Morris and Helen (Lebovitz) Levine. A graduate of William Allen High School, Toby received her nursing degree from Albert Einstein Medical Center School of Nursing. She was a nurse caring for patients at Albert Einstein Medical Center and Muhlenberg Hospital for years. At the center of Toby’s life was her family, starting with her two beloved sons. She loved being active, especially walking, roller skating, biking, tennis and golf. As her family grew, she delighted in weddings, births and each of her grandchildrens’ milestones, big and small. She was never too busy to play, listen, or help her family. Her presence and love were a cherished gift. Survivors: Sons, Robert L. Kanofsky and his wife Camille of Charlotte, NC and Nathan I. "Peter P. Borowski, 90, of East Stroudsburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at his home after a long illness. Born and raised in Bayonne, N.J. to Antoni and Helena Borowski, he moved to Matawan in 1965, and lived there for thirty years before settling in East Stroudsburg over twenty years ago. Prior to retiring he was a manager for NJ Bell and Verizon for many years. Peter was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He was a devout Catholic. He was a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 11434, the American Legion and the Telephone Pioneers of America. Peter enjoyed fishing, hunting, travelling and painting. He regularly and frequently volunteered at local hospitals, nursing homes and other facilities in his community. But above all he loved spending time with his family. Peter was a parishioner of St. Clement Roman Catholic Church in Matawan while living in New Jersey. When he moved to Pennsylvania he became a parishioner of St. Matthew\u0027s Church in East Stroudsburg where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Maureen, in 2009; his infant daughter, Mary, in 1959, and his nine brothers and sisters. Surviving are his four children, Peter Borowski (wife, Cheryl), Diane Stadtmueller (husband, Richard), Kenneth Borowski (wife, Cynthia), and Tamara Tobin (husband, William); seven grandchildren, Lyndsey, Kaelyn, Kyle, Kristen, Megan, Alex, and Emily; two great-grandchildren, Stella and Vivienne; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Family and friends may visit on Sunday, February 4, 2024 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Bedle Funeral Home, 212 Main Street, Matawan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clement Roman Catholic Church, 172 Freneau Avenue, Matawan, with entombment to follow at St. Gabriel\u0027s Cemetery, Marlboro.
