"Kathryn Elizabeth Wilmoth, age 87, of Iola, Kansas, passed away September 10, 2023, at Heartland Meadows, Iola, Kansas. Kathryn was born August 1, 1936, on a farm southeast of Yates Center in Owl Creek Township to Francis R. (Frank) O\u0027Brien and Mary B. (Totman) O\u0027Brien. Kathryn attended country schools at Cherry Creek and New York Valley near the O\u0027Brien family farm. She graduated in 1954 from Humboldt High School, Humboldt, Kansas. Kathryn attended one year at Iola Junior College. Kathryn and Donald Lee Wilmoth were married October 2, 1956, in Iola, Kansas. To this union five children were born. Kathryn lived in Olathe, Kansas, from 1956 to 1958 while Don was stationed in the Navy. They moved to Colony, Kansas, in 1958 and lived there until 1967. Kathryn lived in Iola, Kansas, from 1967 until 2023. Kathryn worked for Allen County State Bank, Iola, Kansas from 1955 to 1956. She was then a homemaker, mother, and babysat in her home. In 1973 she returned to work at Allen County Bank and Trust, later Emprise Bank, and worked until 1995. Kathryn was a member of Saint John\u0027s Catholic Church and Altar Society. Kathryn enjoyed her family, traveling, embroidering, crocheting, taking pictures, and scrapbooking. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; infant brother, Robert F. O\u0027Brien; sister, Mary F. Clark; and an infant great-grandson. Kathryn is survived by her five children, Mike (Aleta Platt) Wilmoth, Wellington, Kansas, Patty (John) Dick, Yates Center, Kansas, Donna (Steven) Carpenter, Iola, Kansas, Jane (Don) Burns, Gas, Kansas, Tom (Jennifer Guenther) Wilmoth, Wichita, Kansas; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Mary Dickey. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p. m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, followed by a visitation in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a. m. , Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at St. John\u0027s Catholic Church, Iola, Kansas. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas. "Rex passed away at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 8th. He was 90 years old. Rex was born September 11, 1933 in Ottawa, KS. He attended the Appanoose School north of Pomona until the family purchased a farm between Kincaid and Blue Mound. He graduated from Kincaid High School in 1952. Rex married Barbara Whitaker in 1951 and they resided in Kincaid while he worked on local oil leases. They had three children; Kathy, Vicki and Rex Jr. (Buster). In 1957 Rex and Barbara divorced and he moved to Wichita. For a short time he worked for Boeing and later moved to Eldorado and went to work for Haliburton Oil Co, working in the oil fields. Later, Rex went to work for TransCon driving over the road and through his employment, he managed to see most of the United States. After retiring from trucking Rex owned and operated a successful tire business in LaHarpe. Throughout Rex\u0027s life, horses were a constant. None of his family can remember a time when he didn\u0027t have at least one. He was a buyer/seller, a breeder, and a trainer. Over time, he became a true horseman. He enjoyed working with the colts more than anything and was an expert rider. Lots of trails were explored on horseback throughout the country. Rex had three siblings who are all amazingly still kicking! His older brother Jack, older sister Norma Jean, and younger sister Patty. He is also survived by his children, Kathy, Vicki and Rex Jr. (Buster) as well as 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time. "Gloria Gean Ogle, age 81, of Iola, Kansas, passed away November 7, 2023, at the Allen County Regional Hospital, Iola, Kansas. Gloria was born March 12, 1942, in Chanute, Kansas, to David Lloyd Overbay and Leota Mae (Spence) Overbay on their wedding anniversary. Gloria went to a one room school house until her father sold their farm and moved to town where she finished her education at Chanute High School. She held various jobs until she got married to Kenny Ogle on July 31, 1960, in Miami, Oklahoma. Gloria loved to travel on weekends with her family to many horse shows and rodeos. She was a very strong cheerleader of her girls. Gloria loved to garden and hunt with Kenny. Her family was very important to her. She was a good grandmother and very proud of her grandchildren. She loved hummingbirds and had many feeders for them so she could watch them. Gloria will be greatly missed for her big heart and caring nature. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny Eugene Ogle; her parents; and two sisters, Kathryn Summers, Delores Moyer. Gloria is survived by her daughters, Carmen Shafer, Ronda (Kent) Tomson; three grandchildren, Ceri (Ryan) Coffield, Reine (Jeremy) Meyer, Ralph Caston Shafer; and two great-grandchildren, Marin Coffield and Milly Coffield; and sister Geraldine Hammer of Iola. "Martha Elaine Capper, age 91, passed away November 2, 2023, peacefully at her home in Iola, Kansas. Martha was born on September 10, 1932 to Rev. Robert Means and Dorothy (Summers) Means in Kingman, Kansas. She attended several schools in Kansas, graduating from Weskan High School in 1950. She also attended Ottawa University. Martha married Arthur Glenn Capper on September 19, 1953 in Russell, Kansas. This union was blessed with three boys. They resided in Gas City, Kansas, where they raised their family. She and Arthur opened Capper Jewelry in May of 1964 and ran it for 31 years before their oldest son Brent and his wife purchased the business in January, 1995. She was involved in Sunflower Quilt Guild, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Iola, Kansas. Martha enjoyed traveling, quilting, reading, visiting with her friends, and most of all spoiling her two grandchildren and her five great- grandchildren. Martha is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 52 years; brother, R. Larry Means; great-grandson, Landan. She is survived by children, Brent and wife Carla Capper of Iola, Kansas, Kent (Claudette Brodeur) of Pointe Verda, Florida, Robert Scott of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren; Jessica Oswald (Dan Peaster) of Iola, Kansas, Jayme (Jacob) Browning of Durant, Oklahoma; great- grandchildren, Lainey and Silas Oswald and Carter, Brynn, Adilyn Browning; sister-in-law Mildred Means of Gardnerville, Nevada; cousin, Bruce Parker of Wichita, Kansas; along with many other family and friends. "James \u0026quot;Jim\u0026quot; Leland Cole, age 84, passed away at the Allen County Hospital surrounded by his wife and family on October 26, 2023. James was born on November 2, 1938 to Spencer Leland and Vivian Ruth (Ramsey) Cole, the third of nine children. Jim attended school in Hackett, Arkansas and Mulvane, Kansas, where he graduated with the class of 1956. He was a proud member of the 1955-1956 state high school basketball team. After high school he worked for the City of Mulvane as a lineman. He served as a Public Works director for the City of Gardner where he retired in 2000 and became superintendent of Sunny Medows golf course in Moran, Kansas. Jim and Anna Dale (Chilcott) were united in marriage on January 18, 1957. This union was blessed with four children. Jim loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren. In his leisure time he enjoyed golfing, fishing, working on projects. Jim was a councilman for the City of Moran, served as President and board member of the Marmaton Valley school district, as well as a member of the Masonic Lodge. Jim was always very active in the community, coaching and umpiring games was a great passion of his. Jim is preceded in death by his mother; brothers Frank and Wilbur; sisters, Judy, Grace, Donna and Norma; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Cole; granddaughter, Elizabeth Cole; great-granddaughter Emma Rayburn. He is survived by his wife of 66 years; sisters, Vivian and Debbie; children, Chris and Annette Cole, Tim Cole, Jamie Cole and Russell Cole; 36 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. "Mary \u0026quot;Judy\u0026quot; Judith Daniels, age 77, passed away on October 24, 2023, at the Allen County Hospital, Iola, Kansas, surrounded by loved ones. Judy was born on October 23, 1946, to Paul and Irma (Seymour) Magill in Chanute, Kansas. She attended the Catholic school in Humboldt and then went on to the Humboldt High to graduate with the class of 1964. While attending high school she met the love of her life Dale Daniels who became her husband on June 20, 1964. This union was blessed with two children. Judy loved life and lived it to the fullest, she always put her family before herself. Comforting anyone in need was a specialty of hers. Spending time with grandkids was a special time she always cherished. She enjoyed helping out on the farm as well as cooking delicious meals and desserts. Judy and Dale spent many evenings dancing with friends and playing cards. After their children were grown, she went to work outside the home at Yesterday\u0027s Treasures, where she enjoyed working with friends. Judy donated many hours to the Lutheran Church in Humboldt organizing and serving funeral dinners. She was passionate about helping others no matter what. Judy is preceded in death by her parents; mother and father-in-law Gerald and Norma Daniels; sisters, Jane and Ann and nephew Brian. She is survived by her husband of 59 years; children Scott and wife Heather, Cindy and Kelly; grandchildren Chloe, Bailey, Sydney, Megan, Zach; 4 great-grandchildren and one on the way; brothers, Chuck and Jim and many other family and friends. "Marcella Anne Trostle passed away October 17, 2023, in Iola, Kansas. She was 88 years old. Marcella was born on January 25, 1935, to William and Edna (Bonner) Houston in LeRoy, Kansas. She had 4 sisters, Patsy, Barbara, Judith and Billie Rae. Marcella graduated from LeRoy High School in 1952. In 1953, Marcella was married to Robert Varvel. This union was blessed with 3 children, Roberta, Nina, and Dewayne. They later divorced. She married Dee Trostle in 1993, and was blessed with 2 stepsons, Kerry and Calvin Trostle. Through the years, Marcella\u0027s family grew to add many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved very much. Marcella was actively involved in farming her whole life. She and her husband, Dee, attended Calvary Episcopal Church in Yates Center, Kansas. She attended the Christian church in LeRoy after Dee\u0027s passing. Marcella and Dee enjoyed square dancing, traveling, and being with their children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her quick smile and loving personality. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, William and Edna Houston; husband, Dee Trostle; sisters, Judith Petty and Billie Rae Gildart; brothers-in-law, Lester Petty and Neil Gildart; and son-in-law, Charles Johnson.
