Varysburg- Kathryn Everett Brent of Varysburg passed suddenly and unexpectedly Saturday evening, September 9, 2023. Kathy was born August 3, 1973 the beloved daughter of Kathryn and Gerald VonLangen. Kathy graduated Attica High School in 1991 and married Greg in 1995. She owned and ran Attica Family Salon from 1998 until 2016 before transitioning into a teacher's aide /assistant role at Attica and then Warsaw schools. Kathy had a lifelong love of children, and passion for all things family. She loved to travel with her family, cook, participate in 5k track events, and root for the Buffalo Bills. Kathy's compassion and charity were well known by all that had the privilege of spending time with her, and her impact on the lives of those she spent time with will continue on. Beloved wife of Gregory Brent; loving mother of Heather and Dante Brent; daughter of Kathy and Jerry VonLangen; sister of Jason and Carrie (Staba) Everett; niece to Pat and Joe Rizzo, she will be dearly missed. Family and friends may call on Sunday, September 17, 2023 from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N Main St, Warsaw, NY 14569. Funeral services will be at the Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home at 10:00 am on Monday, September 18, 2023. She will be laid to rest in Pleasant View Cemetery, Orangeville. Attica - Douglas Stedman, 75, of Attica, passed away unexpectedly at his home on the morning of Saturday, November 4, 2023. Douglas was born May 6, 1948 in Warsaw, a son of the late Paul Stedman and Dorothy (Coleman) Stedman. Having graduated from Attica Central School in 1966, Douglas honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1968. Shortly thereafter, he married his high school sweetheart Roxann on August 9, 1969. Doug was a lifelong dairy farmer who enjoyed nothing more than the smell of freshly plowed earth and newly mowed hay. Douglas will be dearly missed and remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather; he especially cherished the precious time spent with his grandchildren. Douglas is survived by his wife Roxann (Kriegel) Stedman; daughter Heather (Mike) Hojnicki, and son Paul (Melinda) Stedman; grandchildren, Sarah and Ellie Hojnicki, Savannah, Zachary and JP (Joseph Paul) Stedman; and sister, Laurie Ann Wine (Stedman). In addition to his parents, Doug was predeceased by a son, Jared, brothers, Paul Gary Stedman and William Stedman, and sister, Gloria Paine (Stedman). Alfred Reisdorf of Johnsonburg passed away peacefully at home in the care of his loving family, October 14, 2023. Al was born September 28, 1937. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ann (Victor), daughters Sheila (Arthur) Chavers, Lisa (Kevin) Rubino, and Amy (Bob) Delzer, grandchildren Shanel (Aaron) Ranzenbach, Aaron (Emma) Chavers, Lauren (James) Barlow, Nicholas (Lana) Rubino, Derek (Melanie) Delzer and Tori (Madison) Wesolowski, and four great-grandchildren Logan, Clare, Luke and Enzo. Al graduated from Attica Central School in 1956 and enlisted in the U. S. Army reserves for eight years. He worked for Hyman Construction Company, eventually buying it out and forming Johnsonburg Construction Company with two partners. They built milking parlors, free stall barns, and pole barns throughout Genesee and Wyoming County. From 1983 to 1993 Al and his family operated the Mini Mart Motel & Country Kitchen in Orangeville known for their pies and friendly service. Al never really retired. He worked driving tractor for the safari wagons at Hidden Valley Animal Adventure well into his seventies. He was most happy working in his woods with his schnauzer Bubs, helping family and friends with his trusty backhoe and rotary snowplow, woodworking in his shop, and enjoying family acreage on Thomas Road. When not four-wheeling or snowmobiling, he traveled with the Tri Town Seniors and to visit family in four states. He was a friendly, funny, easy-going guy with a gentle nature and generous heart who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was deeply loved and will live on in memory of all those who loved him. Many community organizations benefited from Al's years of service, notably the Varysburg Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, the Wyoming County Office for the Aging, Community Action, and the Warsaw Moose Lodge 560 among others. Al was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Elizabeth (Perl) Reisdorf, sisters Rosie (Ray) Schwab, Lucile (Bob) Powers, and brother Louis (Nancy) Reisdorf. Al is also survived by two sisters, Gert (Ron) Plowe and Peg (Barney) Bird and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joachim and Anne RCC in Varysburg (formerly St. Joseph's) on November 3rd at 12 noon followed by a Celebration of Life at The Farmstead Barn on Maxon Rd in Varysburg at 3:00 pm. Interment will be in Johnsonburg Cemetery on Centerline Road immediately following the Mass. Flowers are gratefully declined. Charles William Yueckstock, 91, a Korean War Navy veteran, died on September 16, 2023 at Crossroads House in Batavia. He was born January 10, 1932 in Buffalo, the son of the late Clarence F. and Lillian Oakes Yueckstock. Charles graduated from Nunda Central School in 1950 and joined the U. S. Navy upon graduation. While in the Navy, he served aboard the U. S. S. Antietam CV 36 which was assigned to the Pacific Fleet and had a tour of duty in the Korean waters during that conflict. Following an honorable discharge in 1954, he enrolled in the teacher education program at SUNY Geneseo; he received a B. S. in education in 1958. He attended SUNY Geneseo and SUNY Brockport to earn a certification in elementary education and supervision from the University of the state of New York. Chuck taught at Alexander Central School in grades 5 and 6 as well as junior high math. He became the elementary principal at Alexander from 1971 to 1985. While at Alexander Central, he coached varsity baseball, varsity soccer, junior varsity basketball and junior varsity football. He left Alexander in 1985 and worked at Pavilion Central School as elementary principal and chairman of the committee for special education. He retired from Pavilion in 1987. Chuck served as chairman of Region 12, New York State School Administrators Association. He also was elected President of the Attica Golf Club on two separate occasions. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Perry Bowling Association from 1981 until 2004, serving as president from 1995 to 1996. He was voted into the Perry Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1999. He was a member of the American Legion of Attica and the V. F. W. of Alexander. He enjoyed his family, golf, bowling, hunting and fishing (especially in Canada on Lake Temagami for 50 years where the family has an island). In his retirement, he enjoyed several trips to the casino. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Buffalo. Surviving are his children, Charles W. (Linda Salamone) Yueckstock of Darien, Deborah (Michael) Monahan of Rindge, NH and Jody (John) Fanara of Cassadaga; two sisters, Melva (Kenneth) Holley of Portageville and Gloria Regone of Wadsworth; grandchildren, Justin (Kim) Yueckstock, Maecee Monahan, Malina (Justin) Yeager, Gina (Jeremie) Henry, Charles Fanara and Luisa Fanara; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to the family, Chuck is survived by a caretaker and with deep appreciation, Sandy Batog of Attica. Chuck is the husband of the late Sylvia Ann Young Yueckstock and brother of the late Florence Carney. Calling hours are Monday (September 25) from 4:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. at the H. E. Turner & Co. Our dear mother Ila Elizabeth Comeau passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on September 7, 2020 at the NYS Veterans's Home in Batavia, New York where she received loving care for the past five years. Ila was a long-time resident of Elm Street in Rouses Point NY. She was noted for her delicious pies and cookies, and her gardens, sewing and wonderful massages. Ila was everyone's best friend and neighbor and an adopted mother and grandmother to many- always there to lend a helping hand. She was transplanted from Garland, North Carolina to Rouses Point by her husband Roland who she met while working in the Army Commissary at Fort Bragg. Ila was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years Roland, her brothers George, Harvey, Joseph, Paul, Luke and John Petty and sister Mary Ross. She is also survived by one sister-in-law Yvonne Petty and several nieces and nephews. Ila is survived by six children and 13 grandchildren, Joseph (Molly) Comeau and their children Rachael Comeau, Vaughn Comeau, Andrew Comeau; Paul (Victoria) Comeau and their children John Comeau, Kristina Comeau Weismore, and Steven Comeau; Margaret (Gary) Boyea and children Mike Boyea and Pam Cocozza, Mary (Zepher) Raymond and their children Eric and Jason Raymond, Marian (Bryan) Tetreault and their children Holly Sega and Jill Mayorga and Theresa (Richard) Simpson and their son Michael. Also surviving are twenty-three great-grandchildren who brought great joy to her in the later years of her life. Ila's life was full. After her children grew up, she worked for many years and retired from Ayerst Laboratories where coworkers often enjoyed her fresh baked goods. She also worked previously at Cedar Hedge Nursing Home providing compassionate care to the residents. She was devoted to her faith and involved in numerous activities at St. Patrick's Church (many of which involved pies which Roland gladly delivered). Lois M. Sliker, age 91, of Leicester , NY passed away on Saturday September 5, 2020 at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home in Livonia. She was born in Perry, NY on November 9, 1928 a daughter to the late Leslie H. and Doris E. (Watrous) Wright. She was a 1946 graduate of Perry High School. Lois married Shelby G. Sliker in 1947, they worked side by side on the family farm for 70 years and she also worked for the former Montesano and Lanckton Stores in Perry. She retired in 2007 at the age of 78 from the Livingston County Sheriff's Office in Geneseo. She was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church in Perry Center where she was a former deaconess, a member of the Women's Group and Knit Two Together Group which made items that were donated to Roswell Cancer Center and area nursing homes, Order of Eastern Star Chapter #497 in Perry, and the former Red Hatters Society. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, hand quilting, baking wedding and all occasion cakes, driving tractor on the family farm and "loved doing the dishes". She is survived by her daughter: Lisa (Walter) Wolinski of Leicester, 3 grandchildren: Melissa (Robb) Yoder, Caryn (Michael) Van Hook and Michael (Tina) Wolinski, 6 great grandchildren: Kyrann and Tegann Yoder, Colin and Dylan Van Hook, Jaxson and Jonathan Wolinski, brother Lawrence (Linda) Wright of New Mexico, along with many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Shelby G. Sliker who passed away in 2017, siblings: Betty Farley, Mary Kohring and James Wright. Richard Charles (Dick) Holbrook went to be with the Lord on August 25, 2020. He was born on February 13, 1928 to Esther Rose Stumm and Louis Henry Holbrook in Buffalo, N.Y. Dick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, dairy farmer, genealogist, and WWII veteran. After graduating early from Attica High School, Dick enlisted in the US Navy in March 1946. He served in the Navy Air Corps Group VA 9V as 3rd Class Petty Officer on the USS Philippine Sea as rear gunman on SB2C Helldiver aircraft. Following his return, he met Shirley Thelma West, who was working as a bank teller in Attica. They married June 9, 1951 and celebrated 67 years of marriage at the time of her passing on June 21, 2018. Dick was a dairy farmer in Orangeville for many years then worked as a supervisor at the Attica prison farm. Dick is preceded in death by his beloved wife Shirley Thelma Holbrook, mother Esther Rose Underwood, and father Louis Holbrook. Dick is survived by his son John (Terry) Holbrook of Sykesville, MD; daughter Janet (Robert) Monaco of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren Lindsey (Andrew) Delis, Phillip (Amanda) Holbrook, Christine, Jialing, and Ryan Monaco; great-grandchildren Benjamin and Eleni Delis; brother Roger (Trish) Underwood; and cousins Judy (David) Breckenridge and Elaine (Joseph) Amedick. A private viewing will be held for immediate family Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Marley Funeral Home, followed by a 2 p.m. graveside service at Pleasant View Cemetery for anyone wishing to attend.
