Spencer Lee Morris, 87, of Belvidere, IL, died peacefully, February 16, 2024, in Belvidere. He was born October 19, 1936, in Seward, IL, son to George Lee and Mary (Baal) Morris. He lived most of his life in Boone County. Spencer proudly served our country in the Army from 1960 through 1962. He would always greet fellow veterans when he spotted them wearing uniforms or military hats or jackets. He married Jeanette (Carlson) Morris on August 14, 1998. He was employed by Rockford Airport, Blackhawk Redimix, and worked as a handyman for Oak Lawn Trailer Park in his later years. Spencer was a member of the IDA Public Library, Prairie Grange and the Boone County Historical Society. He enjoyed flea markets, garage sales, casinos, volunteering, and loved to watch the Bulls. He would listen to his favorite song, “Tennessee Waltz” about five times a day. Spencer had a passion for tinkering and was very handy and mechanical when it came to fixing anything. He loved to read and enjoyed the newspaper. His fondest memories were of his time spent at the cabin and of “Buddy” his beloved Springer Spaniel. Spencer is loved and will be missed by his wife Jeanette (Carlson) Morris, his children, Stacey (Kevin) Holder, Stephen (Barb) Morris, and step-son, Daniel (Michele) Carlson; grandchildren, Ryan (Mia) Longnecker, Jessica Brooks (James Koch), Justin (Rachel) Holder, Heather Holder, Andy (Alysha) Vardell, Tyler Holder, Trey Morris, Tyler (Anna) Morris, Seth Morris, Dusten (Rebekah) Carlson, C. David (Ryann) Carlson and Donovan (Kimberly) Carlson; 17 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary; brothers, Richard Morris, Edwin Morris, Calvin Morris; and sister, Alice Potter. Spencer’s visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services. A visitation will also be at 10 a.m. Friday, February 23 before the funeral at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Pastor Ian McClellan from River Valley Community Church will officiate. Mary Rose Zimmer was born November 20, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Johnie and Susie Riddle. Mary departed this earthly life on February 18, 2024, in Belvidere, Illinois. Mary enjoyed family and friends, shopping, game nights, puzzles, and paintings. She loved all kinds of animals as she lived on a farm early in life. She was a favorite with all her nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was employed at Walmart for over 20 years and a multitude of other jobs through the years. She loved Elvis Presley and his music; she enjoyed going to Elvis’s tribute concerts and everything Elvis. Mary was predeceased by her husband, William Zimmer; parents, Johnie and Susie Riddle; brothers, Charles, Carl, Stephen, Johnie and Lewis and sisters, Mabel, Flossie and Sarah. Those left to cherish her memory include sisters, Mildred Totten, and Linda (Lyle) Zanker; nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Mary was a bit of a packrat like her brothers Stephen and Lewis which made her a favorite at family functions, and other events. She will be dearly missed and loved by all. Mary struggled the last few years with her health, she is no longer suffering and is with her Lord and Savior. Memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM, Friday, February 23, 2024, in Honquest Family Funeral Homes with Crematory, Mulford Chapel – 4311 N. Lee enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and playing card games with her admired friends. Lee was prceded in death by her mother and father, Barbara and Walter Cwan; her son, Kyle Kanable; and her mother-in-law, Rosemary Maney; and is survived by her husband, Patrick Maney; her sisters Dina (Ed) Schulewitz; Kathy Immekus; her children, Ashley (Matt) Bock; Courtney (Tom) Cichon; Devin (Taylor) Maney and Brent Maney; her grandchildren Charlotte and Annabelle Bock and Teddy and Maddie Cichon; and her father-in-law Bud Maney; her niece and beloved Goddaughter Amanda (Mark) Morrissey; nephew Mitch Schulewitz; and great-nieces Olivia and Lacey Morrissey.
