Mrs. Kathleen Marion Garrelts, affectionately known by all as Mom or Grandma, breathed her last on October 4, 2023, in McHenry, IL, after a well-lived life of 87 years. Born on March 20, 1936, in Detroit, MI, Kathleen's journey was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and unyielding optimism. Kathleen's life was defined by her passion for family, love for old-time music, and an indomitable spirit that made her the president and CEO of all things family. She was a beacon of joy, whose light touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her laughter was infectious, her love was unwavering, and her spirit was unbreakable. As Maya Angelou once said, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. "Kathleen embodied this sentiment, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she loved. She graduated from Janesville High School, after which she took on many roles in various fields. But her most cherished role was that of a matriarch, a role she relished with a passion that was unparalleled. Kathleen was the glue that held her family together, and her presence was a constant source of comfort, guidance, and inspiration. Kathleen's love for dance was legendary, and she would often reminisce about the days when she would twirl and sway to the rhythm of the old-time music she loved so dearly. Her love for music was so profound that she dedicated every Saturday night to "Lawrence Welk" night, a tradition that brought her immense joy and happiness. But, what truly brought Kathleen the most joy were her grandkids and great grandkids. She cherished every visit, every game, every show, every dance move, and every moment spent with the little ones. After these visits, she would often need a good rest, but the joy she derived from these moments was priceless. Kathleen was the true embodiment of the quote by George Bernard Shaw, "Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself. " She created a life filled with love, laughter, and close-knit family bonds. Kathleen is survived by her loving family, children Karen Martin, Peter Meehan, Lawrence (Lynn) Meehan, Robert (Judy) Meehan, Susan Meehan, David (Deborah) Meehan, and Nancy (Kevin) Cantwell. She was also the proud grandmother to Renee, Sarah, Peter (Amanda), Amanda (Mike), Tony, Kelly (Marsin), DJ, Chip, Allison, Kyle, Michael (Molly), Nathan (Shelby), Sean, Dakota, Matthew, and Clifford. Her legacy continues in her great-grandchildren Keynan, Keyshaun, Jermel, Lilah, Madelyne, Alivia, Caiden, Layla, Lacey, Liam, Landon, Christian, Jaxson, Alexandra, Carter, Molly, Jeremy, Andrew, Donovan, Zack, Makena, Lilly, and Ruth. Kathleen is preceded in death by her husband Walter Garrelts and two beloved grandsons Joshua and Bobby Jo. Mrs. Kathleen Marion Garrelts' life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the strength of family bonds. Her spirit, energy, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She has left us with a legacy of love, a blueprint for living a life filled with joy, and a reminder that in the end, it's not about the years in your life, but the life in your years that truly matter. Her children and grandchildren recall countless cherished moments in her company, from stories shared over home-cooked meals to the wisdom imparted during quiet afternoons in the garden. On Thursday, November 23, 2023, Shirley A. McNulty (72) passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. She resided in Osseo, WI. Formerly from Marengo, IL, Glendale Hts, IL, Amherst, WI, Bemidji, MN, Des Plaines, IL and Chicago, IL. Shirley was born on October 13, 1951 to Leroy and Anna Cummings in Pittsville, WI, at the Marshfield Medical Center. She grew up in Chicago with her sister Nancy and her two brothers, Bob and Lee. Shirley met the love of her life, Terrence McNulty, and after a few years in Chicago and Des Plaines, IL, they decided to try their hand at farming and moved to MN. There they raised chicken, pigs and wheat. After a couple of years they decided that farming was not for them and moved to WI. In 1986, they then moved back to IL, where Shirley spent most of her career working as an optician and manager at For Eyes Optical, with her sister in law and friend Chris McNulty. She made many life long friends working there. She enjoyed a few hobbies, including reading, crocheting, and word finds. She also was always a fighter for the under dog and the 'lost', taking in many of her children and grandson's friends, to give them a hand up in life. While she enjoyed to do those things, spending time with her family and friends was most important to her. She made a point of having a yearly family vacation with her husband, children and grandkids, traveling to MO, Vegas, the Jersey Shore and Wisconsin Dells. To her, nothing was more important than making lifelong memories with them. Shirley is proceeded in death by her parents, Leroy and Anna Cummings, her husband Terrence P. McNulty, and her grandson, Terrence Lee McNulty. She is survived by her two children, Tammy (Trevor) Cox, and Christina (Jim) Boudreau and her three grandchildren, Bradley Boudreau, Janessa (Sam) Liljenquist, and Trinity Cox; her sister Nancy (Joel) Unowsky, and her brothers, Robert (Diane) Cummings and LeRoy (Mary O'Connor) Cummings; and many nieces and nephews. Her presence at family gatherings, holidays, and everyday moments will be greatly missed, but the memories created will forever bring smiles to the faces of loved ones. Described as nurturing, kind, loving, and gentle, Christine had a heart that knew no bounds. Her creative spirit was seen in everything she did, from the way she decorated her home to the unique and thoughtful gifts she gave. With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Patricia Ann Simpson, known to friends and family as Trish. She lost her unbelievably courageous eight-year battle with cancer in her home on Sunday, November 19 at the age of 70, having lived a life that was as vibrant as the holiday decorations she loved to put up. Above all, Trish was a devoted wife to Will and loving mother to Ethan (wife, Amber) Axelson and Tarryne (husband, Gerald) Marchione. She was a doting grandmother to Jakob, Kilynn, Logan, Hailey, Evan, and Fiona. She was the beloved sister to Jim Gerlick, Anne Simpson, and the late Sharon Mueller. Trish and Will, married 38 years, built a beautiful life together. Rarely apart, they spent most of their free time with family or perusing craft shows and flea markets. She loved the thrill of finding hidden gems and turning them into something extraordinary. Trish treasured her children and grandchildren and truly embraced her moments with them. She always had candy dishes waiting for them that were filled to the brim with M&Ms and Sprees. Trish fought cancer with the utmost strength and grace. No matter what obstacles cancer threw her way, she remained the rock for her family, never shedding a tear and facing the challenge head-on. She was the living embodiment of courage and resilience, a true inspiration to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed, but her spirit will live on in the laughter and love she left behind. He was born December 8, 1949, in Woodstock, to Bruce W. and Matilda "Mitzi" (Zatlow) Klontz. He made McHenry his home for more than 70 years, interrupted only by college. Mr. Klontz is a 1968 graduate of McHenry Community High School, attended Southern Illinois University, where he obtained an Associate of Business in Accounting degree, and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Illinois State University in 1977. Randy learned the electric motor repair trade while working at his father's business, McHenry Electric & Supply Co. , McHenry, beginning as a part-time helper while in middle school. He became a very skilled and knowledgeable craftsman as an electric motor rewind technician and contributed at McHenry Electric as a Subject Matter Expert for all types of electrical machine rebuilding projects for well over 30 years, and later at Flolo Electric, then based in Bensenville, IL. , until his retirement in 2011. Randy also had a passion for building his own computers, for computer programming, and playing chess, as well as several different collection hobbies. His favorite of all activities was square dancing. At national conventions, he was one of the most sought partners, among hundreds and thousands. Randy was known for his quiet, unassuming demeanor, his high expectations of his work, and maintained his gentle and sweet spirit despite the many obstacle's life handed him through no fault of his own. "Wilma "Sue" Carlson (Bell) a beloved wife, mother, grandmother \u0026amp; sister of McHenry Illinois passed away peacefully on October 9, 2023, in Barrington, IL. She was born June 10, 1943, in Deepwater, New Jersey to John \u0026amp; Regina F. (Durham) Bell Sr. She was a graduate of Pennsville Memorial High, class of 1961. After graduation, Sue married her husband Donald on September 9, 1961, where she then lived her life as a military wife over the next 20 years. As her travels took her to many states and even overseas, she was dedicated to her husband and the family of three, Donnie, Jeff, and Patti that they started over the years. Her family were the love of her life. No matter where Sue's travels took her though, her heart was always home in New Jersey. Sue embarked on the professional journey at the Chisholm Bank in Valley Center Kanas where she worked for 12 years, Home State Bank for 18 years in McHenry, followed by 10 years at J. C. Penny in Johnsburg, Chicago. Her colleagues admired her for her dedication, integrity, and the camaraderie she brought to the workplace. Those who knew Sue will remember her as a loving, generous and strong individual. Her unwavering kindness and generosity left an indelible impression on everyone she met. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to resonate in the lives of her loved ones. Wilma is survived by her husband Donald L. Carlson Sr of 62 years, her children, Donald L. Carlson Jr (Diana), Jeffrey Todd (Erin) and Patricia Sue. Grandsons, Donald L. Carlson III, Drew, Derrick, Ethan \u0026amp; Jonathan (Kristen) Granddaughters, Madison, Gabriella, and Regina. A great-grandson Ryan. Sisters, Carol L. Wright, and Kathleen L Giordano (John) Sister-in-law Karen Prickett (James) and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John E and Regina (Durham)Bell Sr. , her brother, John (Jack) Bell Jr. , brother-in-law, Lester Wright, brother-in-law Robert A. Carlson and her in-laws Harold and Lillian Carlson. A visitation will be held at Ashcraft Funeral Home, 740 S. Broadway, Pennsville, N. J 08070 on October 21, 2023, from 9-11 am with a service at 11am. The interment will be held at Lawnside Cemetery, 1017 Route 40, Woodstown, N. J. Woodstown NJ. 08098. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Tunnel of Towers - 2361 Hylan Blvd - Staten Island, N. Y. 10306"Show more
