Kathleen May Voss (nee: Belmont) of Sullivan, Missouri left this life on Friday, October 6, 2023, at the age of 87. A complete obituary will be forthcoming. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 12-2 p. m. at Belmont Vineyards 5870 Old Hwy. 66, Leasburg, Missouri. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, 2:00 p. m. at Belmont Vineyards with Pastor Todd Holman, officiating. Graveside Service with full military honors will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, 11:15 a. m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery 2900 Sheridan Rd. St. Louis, Missouri. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Charles William Hovis, a beloved resident of Cuba, Missouri. Charles was born on February 9, 1940, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to his loving parents Curtis and Henrietta (Griggs) Hovis. Surrounded by his family, Charles peacefully departed this life on Friday, December 1, 2023, at the age of 83. On September 20, 1963, Charles was united in marriage to the love of his life, Gloria M. Duncan in St. Louis, Missouri. Together they were blessed with two children named Dianna and James. Charles served his country with honor and dedication as a Navy Electrician on the U. S. S. Forrestal during the Vietnam War. After completing his military service with distinction, he returned home and joined the City of St. Louis Police Department as a dedicated police officer. Later in his career, he found his calling at Union Electric, where he served as the Superintendent of Power Operations at the Labadie Power Plant until his retirement. Not one to rest, Charles continued to pursue his passion and established Odd Jobber Construction after relocating to Cuba. In addition to his professional achievements, Charles was an active member of Amazing Grace Community Church, the American Legion, Cuba Lodge #312 A. F. & A. M. , and the Moolah Shrine. He dedicated his time and efforts to serving his community and found joy in fishing, tinkering, woodworking, and cherished moments spent with his loved ones. Charles is preceded in death by his parents Curtis and Henrietta (Griggs) Hovis and his beloved wife Gloria M. Hovis whom he shared fifty-nine wonderful years with. Those who were fortunate enough to have known Charles will forever treasure his memory and the indelible impact he made on their lives. He is survived by his two children, Dianna (Richard) DeWitt of Wildwood and James (Donna) Hovis of Beaufort; his adoring grandchildren Morgan (Patrick) Griffey of Creve Coeur and Emily Allen of Beaufort; his brothers Dennis (Mary) Hovis of Piedmont and Randy (Carol) Hovis of Champaign, Illinois; his sister-in-law Carole (Joe) Marino of St. Ann; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends. In accordance with Charles' wishes, he will be cremated. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023, 10:00 a. m. – 11:00 a. m. at Quest Church located at 17126 Manchester Rd. , Wildwood, Missouri 63040. A memorial service to honor and celebrate Charles' life will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023, 11:00 a. m. at Quest Church with Deacon Dennis Hovis, officiating. Following the memorial service, Charles will be placed in the columbarium wall with military honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Backstoppers or Shriners Hospital for Children in honor of Charles. Wanda M. Burnett, a cherished and loving figure in her community, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2023, at the age of 77, in Cuba, Missouri. Born on December 4, 1945, in the quaint town of Brazil Creek, Missouri, Wanda grew up and attended school in the nearby town of Bourbon, where she was a proud graduate of the class of 1964. After completing her education, Wanda chose to remain close to her roots. She briefly worked for Paramount Apparel before embarking on a fulfilling career with the Bank of Bourbon. As a meticulous bookkeeper, she dedicated nearly 25 years of service until her well-deserved retirement in 1994. Wanda's personal life was equally rich and rewarding. She was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Marvin Burnett, on July 23, 1966. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children, James and Paula, who brought immense joy to her life. Wanda was a devoted mother, always putting the needs of her family before her own and instilling in her children the values of love, compassion, and integrity. A true homebody at heart, Wanda found pleasure in the simple things. Her hands were rarely still, as she was often immersed in her favorite hobbies of sewing, quilting, crocheting, and embroidery. Her creative talents were evident in the beautiful pieces she crafted, many of which became treasured gifts for family and friends. Wanda and Marvin shared a love for auctions, where they spent many happy hours together in search of unique and collectible antiques. Wanda and Marvin were long-time attendees of the First Assembly of God of Sullivan. Among Wanda's greatest joys was her granddaughter, Olivia, whom she adored with all her heart. Wanda's legacy is one of love, dedication, and the quiet strength that she demonstrated throughout her life. She will be remembered as a loving wife, a devoted mother and grandmother, a kind sister and a loyal friend. Her gentle, compassionate spirit and kind heart touched the lives of all who knew her. Wanda is survived by her loving husband, Marvin Burnett of Cuba, Missouri; two children, Paula May and husband Chuck of Ballwin, Missouri and James Burnett of Sullivan, Missouri; a granddaughter, Olivia May of Ballwin, Missouri; two brothers, Virgil Bouse and wife Joan of Saint James, Missouri, and Sam Bouse of Cuba, Missouri; two sisters, Lois Woodcock and husband Kenny of Sullivan, Missouri and Beverly Bouse of Cuba, Missouri; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Woodrow and Bonnie; paternal grandparents, Ferd and Myra Bouse; maternal grandparents, Walter and Florence Pennock; and a sister-in-law, Eunice Bouse. Noma Fay Kamler (nee: Graham) of Cuba, Missouri was born on January 6, 1938, to the union of William and Lu Ellen Graham (nee: Goodwin) and went home to her heavenly father on Friday, November 24, 2023, at the age of 85 years. Noma along with her family lived in Hoxie, Arkansas until the age of 3. Her family then moved to St. Louis. Noma graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1955. Some of her jobs included working as a clerk in a dime store then later working in an office. Noma married Jerry Conway and to this union two children were born. Diana and Jerry "Jay". Unfortunately, they divorced and she married Melvin Kamler later in life. Noma's flooring career started at Lawson Brother's Floor Company in St. Louis. She retired from Black's Floor & Wall Center in St. Charles. She worked there for many years. After retiring she moved to Cuba to be near her sister, Nova Lawson, Traveling was something she really enjoyed. She loved to meet new people and go on adventures. Some of her travels included Europe, Jamaica, Alaska, cruises, several road trips and enjoying Texas in the winters. Noma was a member of the Cuba First Baptist Church, this is where she met Melvin Kamler. They enjoyed traveling, eating out, going for drives, entertaining along with working on their land and cattle. Noma is survived by her son, Jerry "Jay" Conway of Cuba, Missouri and daughter Diana Eskra (Mike) of Dauphin Island, Alabama. Step-son, Steve Kamler of Springfield, Missouri, Step-daughter, Cristy Kruse (Ed) of Cuba, Missouri, and Step-son, Matt Kamler of Rolla, Missouri. Grandchildren, Brooke Drakesmith (John) Danni Conway, and Dustin Conway. Step-grandchildren, Amanda Hamaan, Preston Kamler, Andrew Kamler, Cody Kamler, Jaidon Kamler, Nick Kruse, Paige Fairbairn, Isabella Kamler, Lincoln Kamler, Kenzie Pfieffer, and Steven Keogh. Great-grandchildren, Ayla, Iza, Preston, Parker, Pierce and Paige. Step great-grandchildren, Mason Pfeiffer, Watson, Wilder, and Everly Kamler, Ben and Marilyn Kruse, Lennie and Abe Fairbairn, Dylan, Paxton, Maxwell and Addison Keogh. She is also survived by one sister, Nova Lawson of Cuba, Missouri. She was preceded in death by father, Bill Graham, mother Lu Ellen Graham, husband, Melvin Kamler, Step-daughter, Debbie Watt, Brothers and sisters-in-law, Brooks (Delores) Graham, Bill (Glenda) Graham and brother-in-law, Ken Lawson. Sandra Sue Simpson, nee Eisenhauer, of Cuba, MO was born on Saturday, November 28, 1942 in St. Louis, MO to Oliver Joseph Eisenhauer and Sophronia "Fronie" Myrtle Eisenhauer, nee McKee. She passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, MO at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 28 days. Sandra went to Cleveland High School in St. Louis, MO. She had worked for Paramount Apparel in Bourbon, MO and later was an Administrative Assistant for Indeeco in Cuba, MO. She attended First Baptist Church in Cuba, MO and enjoyed going to the Cuba Senior Center to play pinochle. Sandra liked crocheting, singing, playing guitar and keeping up with friends and family on Facebook. She was preceded in death by her parents Oliver and Sophronia "Fronie" Eisenhauer; brother Daryel Eisenhauer; daughter Cindy (Ronald) Dickens and son Michael McGauly. Bobby Dean Link of Cuba, MO, was born on Friday, November 20, 1959 in Steelville, MO. He passed away at Cuba Manor on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at the age of 63 years, 11 months and 16 days. Through the years he worked as an auto mechanic. Bobby loved music and especially playing the guitar. Many evenings were spent playing music beside his brother and friends. He loved being outdoors hunting, fishing, camping and floating. Bobby liked to decorate for every holiday and Halloween was a favorite. He looked forward to passing candy to trick or treaters and enjoying the costumes. Bobby had 2 dogs named Bear and Sadie that were his steadfast companions. Later in life, Bobby enjoyed feeding birds and kept stocked feeders by his windows. In December of 1980, Bobby married Darlene (nee Volner) Retkowski. Bobby and Darlene raised 4 children during their union of 10 years. Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Clarence "Gene" Dicus Sr. and mother, Geraldine (nee Chandler) Dicus; sister Norma Jean Dicus; daughter Rebecca Sue Emily, and grandson Leland J. N. Coombs.
