Katheryn "Kay" Jane Abrams, 92Katheryn Jane Abrams, 92 of Ashland passed away on Sunday morning, June 19, 2022 at the Inn at Ashland Woods. She was born on February 14, 1930 in Ashland, the daughter of the late Walter O. and Frances A. (nee Ogden) Krause. Kay was a 1948 graduate of Ashland High School. She married Gaylord Earl Abrams on May 17, 1964. Kay retired in 1991 after more than 32 years as a secretary in the Juvenile & Probate Court. Throughout her life, she was a member of the Richland Lithic & Lapidary Society, now known as the Mid-Ohio Mineral & Fossil Club, Genealogy Society, Ashland First Family, Johnny Appleseed Organization, and the Ashland County Historical Society. She also was a founding member of the Mansfield Dulcimers Club and the Anoni Mrs. Club. Kay loved history, she volunteered hours on end at the Ashland County Historical Society cataloging archives. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Gaylord E. Abrams of Ashland; five daughters, Becky Lynn Thomas of Ashland, Rebecca Jane (Sam) Radel of Finley, Elizabeth "Susie" Boyer of Ashland, Patricia Jean (Paul) Becker of Ashland, and Teresa Ann (John) Huntley; a son-in-law, Jamie Thompson of Ashland; eleven grandchildren, Wendy (Travis) Gates, Chrystal Thomas, Megan (Branden) Wilson, Aaron Mayer, Alison Mayer, Heather (Tony) Whitted, Seth Mayer, Lyle (Alexandra) Becker, Betsy Becker, Tyler (Ashley) Thompson, and Pete (Deb) Boyer; 20 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Patsy Randleman; and one brother, Phillip (Claudia) Krause. In addition to her parents, Kay is preceded in death by one daughter, Gayle Christine Thompson; two grandchildren, Andrew Boyer and Emily Becker; a son-in-law, Jeff Thomas; and two brothers, Richard (Bonnie) Krause and Joseph (Harriett) Krause. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 11:00 a. m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Reverend Glenn Sprunger officiating. Interment will follow in the Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a. m. to 11:00 a. m. in the funeral home. For those unable to attend, the ceremony will be available via Facebook live on the funeral home's page.
