Kateri E. Bitzel was welcomed into heaven's gates on June 14, 2022, at 1:43 p. m. following a lengthy battle after a heart attack. Kateri was born June 20, 1961, to Maryanne and Donald Jordan in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She married her long-time friend and old flame John Bitzel on December 24, 2018. Kateri and John were able to spend almost 4 years of happiness together. Kateri graduated from Salpointe High School in 1979. She eventually pursued a legal career after being a cab driver in Las Vegas, Nevada, and also working for Pre-Trial Services. NALS, a legal support organization, became a part of Kateri's life as she studied and became certified as a paralegal. She graduated from Pima Community College in 2010 with a paralegal degree while working in the legal field. Kateri worked primarily for sole practitioners. Kateri was an academic who loved learning and usually had her head in a book. She was a brilliant woman with many passions, and was overflowing with wisdom. She was often the go-to person with any questions or curiosities. Kateri was kind, had a big heart, and a beautiful soul. She always put others' needs ahead of her own. Kateri is survived by her husband John, 3 children, multiple grandchildren, a brother, and a sister. She will be missed dearly by those who were lucky enough to have known her. Services will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022, from 4-6 p. m. at the Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 W. Third St. , Peru, IN. Burial services will be on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 11 a. m.
