Karla S. Hilliard, 63, of Fairmount City passed away on Sunday evening, September 10, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. Born on September 26, 1959, in Clarion, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Virginia (Ennis) Shreckengost. She married Roger Hilliard on June 19, 1982, and he survives. Karla worked as a custodian for the Redbank Valley High School District for twenty years. She married Roger Hilliard on June 19, 1982, and he survives. She is also survived by two daughters, Stephanie Hilliard (Richard Campbell, Jr. ) of Fairmount City, and Jessica Hilliard (Wayne Wasser) of Knox; five grandchildren, Makenzie Craig, Kayden Craig, Colton Wasser, Kylie Wasser, and Payton Wasser; three siblings, David Shreckengost of Lancaster, Bobby Shreckengost of Ringgold, Becky Shreckengost of New Bethlehem; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p. m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. Funeral services will be held on Thursday September 14, 2023, at 11 a. m. at the funeral home with Pastor Rob Cummins, Jr. officiating. Interment will take place in the Mt. Adeline Irene (Burch) Crissman, 94, of Mayport (Shannondale), passed away Friday, September 15, 2023, at McKinley Health Center I n Brookville. Born on July 27, 1929, in Wesleyville, she was the daughter of the late Dewitt E. and Elsie L. (Wells) Burch. She was married on February 20, 1948, to Ronald Sherwood Crissman and he preceded her in death on January 12, 2014. They loved camping, traveling out west, and backpacking into the mountains. They rode motorcycles in their earlier days. Adeline loved mowing on her John Deere tractor. She attended the Zion Lutheran Church in Shannondale. She liked to paint pictures and shirts and loved to sew and make outfits for her children and herself, and she loved to crochet blankets for new babies in the family. Her grandkids were afraid of the leather strap. She is survived by five children, Kim Crissman and his wife, Gwen of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Linda Hoff and her husband, Dave of Spring Branch, Texas, Diana Edwards and her husband, Brian of Pittsburgh, Bob Crissman and his wife, Terri of Shannondale, and David Crissman and his wife, Kathy of Hawthorn, sixteen grandchildren, thirty-one great- grandchildren, and two great-great- grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Stanley Crissman. Visitation will be on Monday, September 18, 2023, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p. m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. Luke David Wadding passed away in the arms of his parents on August 17th, 2023. Luke was born August 7th, 2023 to Logan and Olivia Wadding. Despite his short time on earth, Luke loved being held by his mom and listening to stories from his dad. Luke's favorite story was "David and Goliath". Luke was so strong and left a major impact on everyone that met him. Luke will be forever remembered and loved by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Besides his parents, Luke is survived by his paternal grandparents: Shawn Wadding of New Bethlehem and Erin (Dee) Bell of New Bethlehem; maternal grandparents: David and Bambi Murphy of Kittanning. Luke is also survived by his paternal great-grandparents: Melvin and Jodi Lufsey, Patricia (Gene) Johns; maternal great-grandmother: Anne Toy; paternal great-great grandmother: Willovene Shumaker; his uncles: Ethan and Hoyt Wadding and Jake Murphy; his aunts: Gwyneth and Eva Wadding and Evelyn (Sean) Kelly. Luke is preceded in death by his great-grandfather Bernard James Wadding; great-great grandfather Cromer "Buck" Shumaker; great-great grandmother Virginia Evans; his great-grandfather Glenn Toy and his great-grandparents Winfield and Lois Murphy. Allen Russell Shirey, affectionately known as Big Al, passed away on July 9, 2023. He entered the kingdom of heaven the same way he spent his 85 years on this earth - surrounded by his beloved family. Allen's genuine personality naturally drew people to him. He had a smile that invited you to talk to him for hours and a hug that made you feel safe and loved. Allen was born 1938, to the late Russell and Dorothy (Kunselman) Shirey. He was the oldest of their six sons. In 1958 he married Marjorie Dougherty - a union that would plant the seeds of their sprawling family tree. They were married for 64 years. He is survived by his six children: Pamela Shirey, Diana Shirey (Mark Lunz), Kimberly Magagnotti (Guy), Richard Shirey (Jean Wolf), Marcie Shirey (Shawn Yarger) and Angela Shirey (Michael Fricko); his 19 grandchildren: Ryan McAninch, Dylan McAninch, Elise Truax, Adrienne Ruby-Diaz, Mallory Kupchella, Hunter Ruby, Shay Magagnotti, Samantha Martin, Antonio Magagnotti, Evan Shirey, Cole Shirey, McKenna Shirey, Bailey Brothers, Olivia Anthony, Declan Fricko, Owen Fricko, Quinn Fricko, Kieran Fricko and Tate Fricko; and 34 great grandchildren. . . so far. He is additionally survived by brothers Darrell Shirey (Lila), Galen Shirey (Sue), John Shirey, and Mark Shirey (Becky), his brother in-law, Vince Dougherty (Elizabeth), Robert Dougherty (Janet), Roxie Randolph (Ord). In addition to his parents and Marjorie's parents, Vince and Irene Dougherty, he was preceded in death by his brother Larry Shirey and his wife Sally, and his brother-in-law Richard Dougherty. Allen left home at 16 to work on a dairy farm in Smicksburg, PA. It was at this time that he learned the value of hard work and grew to love farming. After graduating from Dayton High School, he worked at various construction jobs including being part of the crews that built Redbank Valley High School and the Crawford Furniture Plant. Always keen at recognizing opportunities, he started Shirey Overhead Doors from the basement of his home in 1972. Around that same time, he bought a local farm to start Shirey Farms. Both endeavors are now third generation family-owned businesses. Deeply devoted to the community, Allen was a member of the Hawthorn Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, PA Farm Bureau, New Bethlehem Lodge # 522 F & AM, the St. Charles Church Council and the Redbank Valley Public Library. He was the recipient of the Redbank Valley Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021. Allen loved music and singing and was a member of the NBC Barbershop Chorus for over 50 years, participated in the Community Choir and was a member of the Shirey Brothers Barbershop Quintet. Allen will be greatly missed by all that loved him. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 12, from 1:00 - 9:00 PM at the St. Charles Catholic Church in New Bethlehem and from 10:00 -11:00 AM on Thursday preceding the funeral mass. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 13 at the St. Charles Catholic Church.
