Karen Murdock Obituary

"Karen B. Murdock, 81, of Columbus, Indiana passed away Saturday evening May 6, 2023 at Otterbein Senior Life Community. She was born February 5, 1942 in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of George and Arlene (Goff) Roberts. She married Charles "Chuck" Murdock on August 24, 1963 and he survives. Karen was a long-time member of the First Christian Church of Columbus, Indiana. She graduated from Upper Arlington High School and attended Ohio State University. She was previously employed at Sears. Karen was an active volunteer with several organizations including Clarity Pregnancy Center, BCSC Book Buddies and was a Guardian Ad Litem in Brown County. Funeral services will be held at the First Christian Church 531 Fifth Street Columbus, Indiana on Friday May 19, 2023 at 10:30 a. m. with Rick Herman officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in the Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday May 18 from 4:00 p. m. until 8:00 p. m. at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association through the funeral home. Karen is survived by her husband, Chuck; daughters, Kristine J. (Abdel) Bouaichi, Kimberly L. (Richard) Allen and Diane Broome; son, Andrew C. (Kathy) Murdock; brother, J. Thomas Roberts; sister, Kathy Fellows; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Karen was preceded in death by her parents; brother Rob Roberts and sister, Konny Marlowe.
