Age - 80
December 7, 2023
Ella H. Baldwin (1943-2023)It is with profound sadness that we, the Baldwin Family, announce the passing of Ella Helene Baldwin on December 5, 2023. We rejoice in knowing that she is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and that her suffering is over, her health is restored, and she is reunited with those who passed before her. Our Mom loved our Dad beyond measure with a love that lasted a lifetime. They cared for one another in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health and with a devotion that was enviable. We promised our Mom that we would continue to care for our Dad, and while we know that we will never be able to take care of him the way she did, there will be love in everything we do. Our Mom was a blessing to us. She was of a generation that chose to stay at home and raise your children and run your household like the full-time job it was. As her children, we benefitted greatly from her guidance and immeasurable support. Her love for us was limitless and her pride was biased and unwavering. She showered that love on her grandchildren and great grandchildren as our families grew. Our Mom was fearless and passionate in her faith and she taught us all to know God. Our Mom was an amazing and loyal friend. From her childhood friends and cousins, to the "card club" ladies, to her fellow Gideons and church family. She was a friend to all, demonstrating kindness, compassion, humanity, and faith. Our Mom was pre-deceased by her parents Nora (nee Little) and Clifford Keats, and her stepfather, Robert Crocker. Parents-in-law, John and Kathleen (nee Frampton) Baldwin, fathers-in-law, Stephen Gregory, and Ralph Mercer. Her siblings, infant sister Gail and brother Roy Keats. Sisters-in-law, Mary Moore, and Carol Ann Gulliford-Keats. Brothers-in-law, Clarence Baldwin, Joseph Baldwin, Tom Rogerson, and Dawson Harris. Celebrating her life and love for 60 years is her devoted husband, Tony Baldwin. Loving her always, her children, Trevor (Peggy), Mark (Corina) and Jill Follett (Randy). Her pride and joy, her grandchildren, Tyler, Lisa (George Karounis), Madison, Makayla (Ethan), Katie (Alex McDonah) and Sam (Kate). Her newest treasures, her great grandchildren, Alexis, Axel, Owen, and Ronan. Mourning her loss, her sisters, Daisy Rogerson, Anita Sullivan (Paul) and her brothers, Lorne (Emily), Bill (Marie), Warren, Ivan, Bond, and Glen (Shannon). Her sisters in law, Venita Harris, Clarice Baldwin, and Trixie Grout (Bill). Her brother-in-law, John Baldwin Jr. (Shirley) and step-sister Daisy Downer (Ron). Special family, Juanita Keats, Linda Keats, Irene Murray, Janice Bedore and Sue Shields. A multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins. So many friends, far too numerous to mention. All those who visited, brought food, and prayed with and for Mom during her illness. Our parents also had many business friends, Salvation Army Church friends and family, friends from the Gideons and friends from the Saint John's Lodge #1. We will not let this cancer journey define our Mom's life as she was so much more than that. She took charge of her treatments, embraced the outcomes and was an absolute inspiration throughout. We couldn't be more proud of her resilience, determination and finally, her acceptance of her passing into God's loving embrace. Many thanks to Dr. Brentnall, Dr. Neveu, Dr. Saldhana, Dr. Harvey, pharmacist Nadine Glynn and all the nurses and care team at the Dr. H Bliss Murphy Cancer Center. Her care was exceptional. Thanks to Dr. O'Dea, Dr. Rogers, Carmel Collins and all the nurses and care team at the Palliative Care Unit. The care and compassion you showed to our Mom did not go unnoticed, and we will be forever grateful. As per our Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will be having a visitation on Friday, December 8th 2023 from 11-2pm and 6-9pm at Barrett's Funeral Home, Hamilton Avenue, St. John's. The funeral and celebration of life will take place on December 9th 2023 at 11am from The Salvation Army CBS Corps with burial to follow at 2pm at The Salvation Army Cemetery Blackmarsh Road.
