Born Donald LaRue Willford on September 3, 1939 to Pauline Ardelle Wray Willford married to William Dan Willford on Feb 3, 1939. Don passed away January 27th, 2024 at the age of 84 in Pomona, Kansas where he spent most of his life after moving there in 1967. Before then Don was raised in Centropolis, Ks, where he grew up, attended Appanoose Grade school and went on to Graduate Appanoose High School in 1957. Don became a member of the United States Army in 1960 to 1962 he was a Specialist 4th class. He was a Medic in the Army while he was stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado. Don was in the National Guard Armory before and after the Army. After leaving the Army he went back to his carpenter skills where he then met his wife of 56 years, 1 month, and 11 days, he married Letha Ellen Harmon Willford on June 16, 1967, in Miami, Ok. They had two children oldest daughter Carmen Lynn Willford Thornton, born April 28, 1969, and a son Dan Cole Willford, born October 24, 1971, both children still living. Don having three grandchildren Trevor (Willford) Morrison of Pomona the oldest of the three, Tye Cole Willford, and Marlie Jade Willford both of Ottawa, Ks. Don leaves a living younger brother Ronald Kay Willford and wife JoAnne Willford both of Belle Plaine, KS, his Uncle Jack Wray & Aunt Avis Wray of Ottawa and many living cousins. Proceeded in death by his Father William Dan Willford & Wife Pauline Ardelle Wray Willford, younger brother William Wayne Willford, Grandfather, Harvey Wray & Grandmother Goldie Smith Wray. Great Grandfather Andrew Jackson Wray & Great Grandmother Barbara Beckner Wray, & Great Grandfather Wilson B Smith (Big B) & Great Grandmother Clara Fager Smith. Don owned Willford Construction Company most all of his life. He built homes, apartments, worked on churches all over the surrounding areas and other states. He went to work for Jack Cooper Transportation Company in the later 70’s where he drove the East Coast run for 7 years before leaving. Later he bought Overbrook Lumber Company Don and his family ran the company for 8 years before selling. Don and Letha worked their daughter Carmen in Georgia for Ace Hardware for years where they traveled and many exciting adventures. After coming off the road Don went back to some construction, odd jobs, and working on their rental properties. In the 1970’s Don loved going to race with go-carts, his wife, daughter, brother, Ron, and wife JoAnne, where the two brothers won lots of trophies. They traveled to many tracks in Kansas and other states. Don was very active in his community all his life. Early on his children were in 4-H, Don enjoyed speaking about his wife’s dogs that she raised and trained at local 4-H clubs. He once drove a bus full of 4-H club members to Tennessee. He then drove his kids’ horse club down to Oklahoma City to tour the Cowboy Hall of Fame, see Mr. Impressive and enjoy other horse experiences. Don joined the McKinley Lodge #41 in Pomona on October 8, 1994; he was very active in the Masonic organization. He was also a member of the Ridgeway Lodge #62 in Overbrook, Ks, and Euclid Masonic Lodge #101, Lyndon, Ks, he attended many meetings in the Garnett Lodge, the Louisburg Lodge and many surrounding area lodges. Don was Deputy Director of the Grand Lodge, a Master Mason of his Lodge many times. Along with other members they raised money to send kids to band camp, scholarships, and for many years did the kids identification program in the surrounding schools. Don later started with the other Brother Mason’s selling food to raise money where they first started with exotic meat burgers and fries’ people would stand in line for ever to get those. Then they graduated to the funnel cake, and numerous items truck they have today where you will find them at all the local functions in the area. Don and Letha loved to watch their daughter barrel race in the rodeo and show horses no matter what association it was. They would be in any state she was in. Don enjoyed going to Oklahoma and working with his son on housing projects and helping him with anything he needed. Don really enjoyed hanging out with Lyle Hunt and visiting the Pomona Volunteer Fire Department to talk with friends. Don loved his Wife, and children and he really enjoyed spending time with grandchildren Tye and Marlie. He enjoyed tinkering with projects with Tye, teaching him to read a ruler, do math, working outside on the food truck and mowing with him. Marlie loved to hang out with her Pa Pa playing on his computer and him telling her stories. Don will be missed dearly by Family and Friends. Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, KS. Melinda Marie LeBoeuf, age 43, of Pomona, KS, passed away December 6, 2023, at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS. Melinda was born September 26, 1980, in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Carroll Renfro and Lillian Woods. Melinda grew up most of her life in the Johnson County area attending schools in Gardner, KS. Melinda was a lifelong housewife and homemaker. She loved caring for family and spending time with them. She especially loved her children and her husband. On April 15, 2017, Melinda was united in marriage to Patrick LeBoeuf. They share six years of loving marriage. Melinda is survived by her husband Patrick LeBoeuf, Pomona, KS; two children, Kayla Woods, Pomona, KS, Justin Crabtree, Pomona, KS; two sisters, Rhonda Renfro, Pomona, KS, Brenda Gatlin, Olathe, KS and step-mother, Charlene Renfro, Pomona, KS. "William Michael Kane, 57, of Pomona, Kansas, passed away peacefully at home on September 9, 2023. William was born on December 12, 1965, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Dennis and Linda (Randolph) Kane. William enjoyed playing football and baseball for Spring Hill High School where he graduated from in 1984. His after education plans consisted of hitting the rodeo road where he competed in the Professional Cowboys Rodeo Association in the bareback riding and bull riding. He worked for McCray Lumber in Olathe, KS for more than ten years, and during his time there in April of 1996, he welcomed a baby girl that he later passed down the love of horses and rodeo to. William was an active rodeo dad during PJ's youth rodeo days, and enjoyed getting to watch her passion for the sport grow. In 2016, he gained a new title of "Papa" when Hartley wrapped him around her little finger. William leaves behind a legacy of horsemanship and love in his daughter and granddaughter, who were the lights of his life. William is preceded in death by his mother Linda Kane and sister Kerry Winzer. He is survived by father Dennis Kane; brother-in-law Darrell Winzer; daughter Pamela (Cooper) Belt; and granddaughter Hartley Dolbow. A memorial service will be held at Maple Hill Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 P. M. Friday, September 15, 2023. Edward James Lee, 71, of Pomona, Kansas, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023, at his home. A Celebration of life is planned at 5:00 pm, Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Pomona Lake Federal Side Shelter #4. Ed was born Wednesday, July 30, 1952 in Watertown, South Dakota. He was the son of John and Josephine (Oswskey) Lee. Ed attended Waubay, South Dakota High School graduating with the class of 1970. He lived in Apache Junction, Arizona from 1986 to 2010 before moving to Pomona, Kansas. Ed has worked as a truck driver, crop sprayer, diesel mechanic, and farmer. He was most recently employed with Judd Ranch, Pomona, Kansas working as an equipment and diesel mechanic. Ed enjoyed farming, traveling, and working on junk. He especially loved his family and friends. His generosity, kindness, and sense of humor will be remembered always. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Dana Lee; and sister June Hoffman. Survivors include son Jeremy Lee (Hannah) of Mesa, Arizona; daughters Shannon Huskett (Timothy) of Flagstaff, Arizona and Audrey Cross (Nicholas) of Mesa, Arizona; brother Thomas Lee of Webster, South Dakota; and six grandchildren Jennah Lee, Zyannah Lee, Malachi Lee, Kristyanna Cross, Hailee Huskett, and Quinn Huskett.

He was the son of Michael and Barbara (Mowat) Dyer. Justin grew up in Pomona, and graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 2001. He married Lisa Davis on May 26, 2023, at Pomona Lake. Justin loved farming, he could operate any piece of equipment. He enjoyed being outside, hunting, mudding and tending to his animals. Justin could light up any room that he walked into and his laugh was infectious. He loved spending time with his friends and family more than anything. Justin left this earth too soon. He is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Dyer, and brother, Joseph Dyer, maternal grandparents, Jim and Mary Mowat, and paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Verda Dyer. Survivors include his wife, Lisa Dyer, of the home, father, Michael Dyer, of the home, three children, Ashlynn Davis, Sean Davis and Ryan Connelly, as well as many extend family members and friends. Debbie J. Griffin, age 71, of Pomona, Kansas, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023, at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, surrounded by her loving family. Celebration of life will be held at 2 p. m. , Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Grace Community Fellowship, 501 S Poplar, Ottawa, Kansas 66067. Visitation will be held from 2:30 p. m. to 4 p. m. Debbie was born on Thursday, April 24, 1952, the daughter of Richard and Lois (Spring) Griffin. She was the second of four daughters. Debbie graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1971. She spent her career working for King Radio, EFTC, Appanoose Schools, Casey's in Pomona and Ottawa, and finally Rock Creek of Ottawa. She enjoyed fishing and spending time outside. Debbie loved to cook, especially for her family and friends. Her famous dishes included pork chop burritos (making 70 at a time), homemade chicken and noodles and lemon pie! Above all she loved spending time with her family and friends. Debbie is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Lois Griffin and brother-in-law, K. R. Bowman. Survivors include her three sisters; Cindy (Fred) Stevenson, of Rantoul, Kansas, Carolyn (Ron) Snethen, of Ottawa, Kansas, and Penny (Ed) Thompson, of Pomona, Kansas, 14 nieces and nephews, 12 great nieces and nephews, as well as many wonderful friends and extended family. Carroll Dean Renfro, 75 of Pomona, KS, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023, at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS. Carroll was born March 6, 1948 in Springfield, MO, the son of Bobby Renfrow and Dorothy (Lansdown) Renfrow. Carroll always went by the name Dean. Dean lived most of his adult life in Olathe, KS before moving to Pomona in 2019. He was a supervisor in laundry for Aramark in Olathe, KS during his professional years. On September 19, 1987, Dean was united in marriage to Charlene Ree in Olathe, KS. They shared thirty-five years of loving marriage. In his free time Dean spent his moments outdoors. If the weather was good you would not find him in the house. You probably would catch him doing his favorite pastime fishing either at Hillsdale Lake or Pomona Lake. Dean loved just being out in nature relaxing and enjoying the moment. Dean is survived by his wife Charlene Renfro, Pomona, KS; three daughters, Rhonda Renfro, and husband David Miller, Pomona, KS, Brenda Gatlin, Olathe, KS, Melinda LeBoeuf, and husband Patrick, Pomona, KS, three brothers, Darrell Stephenson, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Donald Renfro, Edgerton, KS, Richard Renfro, Ottawa, KS; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchild.
