Don Pribyl

Don Pribyl

Age - 88

December 8, 2023

Donald Joseph Pribyl, a resident of DeWitt, Michigan, former resident of Indianapolis, Indiana and native of Tisch Mills, Wisconsin, died at home on December 6, 2023 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 88 years old. Don was born on April 13, 1935 in Tisch Mills, Wisconsin, the youngest of three children born to George and Tillie (Stangel) Pribyl. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering. Don attended boot camp with the United States Army, Air Force and Navy and was in various reserve units over the years, and was honorably discharged from the U. S. Army. Don married Rita Blazei on August 17, 1957, were married for over forty years before their divorce in 2000 and were blessed with three children, living in Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and Indiana, and settling in Indianapolis. For ten years, he enjoyed the companionship of Charlene Jacobs until she passed in 2010. Don moved back to Michigan to be closer to his daughter, Gale Capling and for the last ten years, he enjoyed his condo in DeWitt and his membership with the Wildflower Condo Association. Don was meticulous in every aspect of his life, a characteristic that served him well in his professional career as a mechanical and electrical engineer, retiring from General Motors in 1988. His penchant for precision extended to his personal life as well, where he was known for his organization, labels, filing systems and attention to detail. His love for order and precision could only be rivaled by his love for motorcycles, flying planes, World War II history, guns, traveling, or going on dates (though he was known for his preference to go "dutch"). A self-admitted hoarder of sorts, Don never missed an opportunity to add to his collection, be it free floss from the dentist, Snickers bars or special vacation treats, always saving them for the "perfect time" to enjoy (but waiting too long to actually enjoy them). Through all of life's ups and downs, Don showed us all how to face disappointment with grace and determination, and always willing to try something new. He is survived by his daughters, Gale (Troy) Capling and Renita Pribyl; his son, Daren Pribyl; grandchildren, Justin Pribyl, Kelly (Dave Brozowski) King, Devin Pribyl, Madison Pribyl, Connor Pribyl and Logan Pribyl; three step-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; his sister, Genevieve Hostak, as well as extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Tillie Pribyl and brother, Marvin Pribyl. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church, 18424 Tisch Mills Rd, Denmark, Wisconsin on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 11 AM, with gathering beginning at the church at 10 AM. Interment of ashes to follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. For further information, phone McGeehan Funeral Home at 989-224-4422.Show more

Raymond Montague

Raymond Montague

Age - 92

November 29, 2023

Raymond Warren Montague, or "Ray" as he was affectionately known to many, buzzed off to the great apiary in the sky on November 25, 2023. Born in the heart of Victor Township, MI on July 7, 1931, Ray was as sweet as the honey he so passionately produced for 56 honey-soaked years of his life. His journey from 2105 N. Ovid Rd. Ovid MI, to 741 W. Front St. Ovid MI, and finally to Saint Johns, Michigan, was much like the journey of the bees he cared for - busy, purposeful, and full of sweet rewards. In the hive of life, Ray was the queen bee. He was a resilient worker, a courageous provider, and a witty companion to many. His loyalty to his family, his bees, and his commitment to an honest day's labor were the honeycombs of his existence. Ray's infectious humor and terrible quick wit never failed to bring a smile to those around him, even on the gloomiest of days. As the legendary Mark Twain once said, "The secret to getting ahead is getting started," and Ray lived by these words, always rising with the sun to tend to his bees and his loved ones. Ray was a proud member of the Michigan Beekeepers Association, Great Lakes Honey Marketing, and the American Beekeepers Association. His dedication to his sweet profession was recognized when he was crowned Beekeeper of the Year in 1975. Preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Almira Montague, and his beloved wives Marjorie and Marion Montague, Ray is survived by his children Randy (Jamie) Montague, Linda Boring, Gene (Donna) Montague, and Peter (Laurie) Montague. His legacy will continue to buzz through his grandchildren Peter, Danielle, Elizabeth, Michelle, Trevor, Caitlin, Haley, and his great-grandchildren Jonathan, Nicolas, Kendall, Olivia, Quinn. As we remember Ray, let's remember the words of Albert Einstein, "If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would only have four years of life left. " Ray's life revolved around these vital creatures, and his legacy will continue to do so as well. We invite you to share your memories of Ray, and to upload photos to his memorial page. Just as bees share nectar to create honey, let's share our memories to create a sweet tribute to Raymond Montague.Show more
