Julia Gutierrez Lozada May 23, 1932- September 08, 2023 Funeral services for Julia Lozada, 91, of Lamesa, will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 10:00 a. m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Chacko Thadathil officiating. A burial will follow at Dawson County Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Rosary will be held September 12, 2023, at 7:00 p. m. at Branon Funeral Chapel. Julia Lozada was born on May 23, 1932 to Juan Gutierrez and Helen (Hilburn) Gutierrez in Poteet, TX. Julia had two brothers and five sisters Stella Gutierrez, Beatrice Gutierrez, Juan Gutierrez, Mina Gutierrez, Lupe Gutierrez, Lilly Gutierrez, and Oscar Gutierrez. Julia lived in Poteet until the age of 10 when the family moved to Lamesa Tx in 1942. In 1949 at the age of 17 Julia was Miss Diez y Seis de September in Lamesa, TX. Julia Married Simon Lozada in Lamesa, TX. Julia had five children Simon Lozada Jr, Henry Ray Lozada, Tony Lozada, Danny Lozada and Belinda Lozada Looney. During her younger years Julia was actively involved in her son's baseball leagues and often helped run the concession stands while they played. Julia was a accomplished seamstress working several years at Dotty Dan in Lamesa. Julia was also involved in American GI Forum in Julias later years she loved to play Bingo with her sisters and spend time with her children and grandchildren. Julia was preceded in death by her husband Simon Lozada and her two sons Tony Lozada and Danny Lozada. Julia is survived by her sons Simon Lozada Jr. and wife Estella, Henry Lozada and wife Alice, daughter Belinda Looney and daughter-in-law Nancy Lozada. fourteen Grandchildren, fifteen Great-Grandchildren and eight great great-great-grandchildren. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Pedro Castillo; her daughter Rebecca Rocha, her father, Frank Aguirre, Sr. , and her mother, Ester Aguirre; her brothers, Rafael Aguirre, and Frank Aguirre, Jr. ; her sister, Judy Perez; her great-grandson, Ethan Rocha. Gloria worked many years for the Lamesa ISD in the school cafeteria until her retirement. She loved working in her yard, keeping it nice and beautiful. She enjoyed holiday cooking with her family, but mostly enjoyed being around her beloved family and most of all her grandchildren. Gloria was a devoted Catholic to her church St. Margaret Mary, wife, and mother.
