On August 8, 2023, the world said goodbye to a devoted husband, son, uncle, father, and Papa, just months after the sudden loss of his beloved wife, Ann. Their love was timeless, a bond that stood the test of time, and it was a profound and deep love story. Timothy P. Nelson was born on February 10, 1954, the son of a distinguished surgeon and a loving nurse. He spent his early years in Modesto before making Sonoma County his home in his 30s. Raised with his brothers Tom Nelson and Jim Nelson, as well as his sister Cindy Nelson, Tim's formative years were marked by the bonds of family and a deep sense of togetherness. In his younger days, Tim had a unique companion, a horse named Chick, which he used for transportation. The stories of his adventures with Chick added to the richness of his life's tapestry. Tim was a dedicated family man who embraced the role of a father, offering unwavering support and guidance to his wife's two daughters. He played a pivotal role in shaping the lives of his cherished granddaughters, leaving an indelible impact on their futures. His love for his grandchildren was matched only by his passion for storytelling, which he generously shared with them. Throughout his life, Tim was a hardworking body repairman, known for his unmatched dedication and work ethic. He took great pride in his ability to restore cars with skill and precision, serving as an inspiration to all who knew him. One of his greatest joys was his love for cars and the thrill of the racetrack. Music, particularly the iconic sounds of Pink Floyd, resonated deeply with his soul. He also had a penchant for literature and immersed himself in the novels of Stephen King. Tim cherished moments of music, often enjoyed under the canopy of the Redwoods at his home along the Russian River, where he resided for over two decades. Tim's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. He is survived by his children: Christina and Richard, Andrea and Jason, and his beloved grandchildren: Amanda, Justin, Ashley, Damen, Samuel, Gabriel, Brandon, Koa, Elijah, and Mia. He is also fondly remembered by his nieces: Patty Holroyd and Jennifer Holroyd. As we commemorate and celebrate Tim's life, we are reminded that true love endures, even in the face of loss. Marian Morgan

Age - 85

October 26, 2023

It is with great sadness that the children of Marian Morgan share that she died on October 11, 2023, at the age of 85. Marian Neely Morgan was born in Los Angeles, California, but called Santa Rosa home for 52 years. Anyone who knew Mom--whether friends and family, or casual acquaintances and even strangers--had the joy of witnessing herpassion for serving others. As a longtime leader of the Piner 4-H Club, she shared with countless children her leathercraft skills and inspired them to become leaders in the community. Her moniker, "Marian the Librarian," was well-earned through years volunteering as a parttime librarian in the Santa Rosa City School District, and later as a Special Education Teacher's Assistant at Hidden Valley Elementary. She loved teachingstudents how to craft and left her mark on each classroom with her latest creations. After losing her hearing 19 years ago, Mom turned her pain into purpose by becoming active with Canine Companions for Independence. As a beneficiary of her own CCI hearing dog, she understood the lifechanging impact each companion had on her fellow CCI graduates. For many years, Marian was a devoted dog-walker and also organized luncheons with delicious food and her signature crafted decor to support new clients on the CCI campus for their two-weeks of Team Training. She loved taking her first companion, Pekoe, and later her beloved Faia to schools and events to demonstrate the amazing abilities of hearing dogs. 'Grammy' loved being silly and making fun of herself. Wearing funny accessories, making silly faces, singing songs, bestowing nicknames, and telling stories were her secret weapons to make her grandchildren laugh and smile. Most importantly, her unwavering love for and belief in her three children impacted their lives and will be felt generations to come. Marian is survived by her children, Ron, Bryan, and LoriMorgan; grandchildren Kyle Morgan, Kelly Maynard, and Caroline Anderegg; great grandchildren Mack and Barrett Maynard; daughters-in-law Edy Morgan and Laurie Morgan; son-in-law Carl Scherfner; brother, Scott Neely and his wife Nancy; nephew Mike Detrick and his wife Tara; several loving cousins, and, of course, her beloved Canine Companion, Faiawho still lives with family in Ron and Edy's care. She was preceded in death by her sister Janet Detrick, parents Alice and Robert Neely, and her first CCI dog Pekoe. A private Celebration of Life will be held for Marian in the future. If you would like to honor the memory of our mother, please consider donating to Canine Companions. They will be installing a bench on their Santa Rosa campus that will have an "In Memory Of" plaque, honoring Mom. Donations may be made online at Canine Companions.
