Judy Ann (Gearhart) Frankhouser passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving husband and sons on July 9, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Catherine Guthridge Gearhart and the late Jay O. Gearhart, both formerly of Lewistown. Judy was also preceded in death by an infant son, Brian K. Frankhouser in 1967. Judy is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Albert R. Frankhouser. Her fun-loving spirit and sense of humor made those 57 years fly by in the blink of an eye. As well as her husband Albert, she is survived by three sons, Marlin J. Frankhouser and wife Kelly of Lewistown, A. Russell Frankhouser and wife Michele of Reedsville, and Scott A. Frankhouser and wife Denise of Lewistown. Each of Judy's sons have beautiful families, which brought her so much joy. She was the matriarch of those three sons, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was also a loving sister to two brothers, Jay Gearhart of McVeytown and Florida, and George Gearhart of Lewistown, and numerous step-brothers and sisters. Judy worked at the Giant in Burnham for more than 35 years. Many customers enjoyed talking with Judy regularly as they shopped for their groceries. She was also a life-long animal lover, who enjoyed animals in nature, as well as her pets. She loved watching the hummingbirds on her patio with Albert, and she loved her most recent pets Dixie and Cindy, who will miss her greatly. A Celebration of Life will be held in Judy's honor on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023 at 11:00 a. m. at the Barrville Mennonite Church. All are welcome to gather and share their memories of Judy. Gloria Jo Wagner, 83, of 185 Wilson Street, Reedsville, PA, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at William Penn Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Lewistown. She was born on June 15, 1940 in Yeagertown, PA, to the late Arvard and Lorena (Norris) Moore. Also preceding her in death are brothers and sisters: Sherman Moore, Dick Moore, Lenny Moore, and Janet Warner. On July 1, 1960, she married Ralph E. Wagner, who survives at home. Also surviving are children Terri Jo Nichols and husband Kenton of Alaska and Greg E. Wagner and wife Michelle of Reedsville; grandchildren Chelsey Jo and husband Ken and daughter Jordyn Jo of Alaska, Breanna Wagner of Lewistown, a brother Donny Moore of Lewistown and a sister Betty Niman of Mifflintown. Gloria was employed at Nittany Oil/Shipley Energy for 15 years, retiring in 2005. She enjoyed reading, doing word puzzles and word searches, and watching her Dallas Cowboys. Roy S Kauffman, Jr. , 75, 8755 Back Mountain Road, Milroy, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023, at home. He was born on May 19, 1948 in Lewistown, PA to the late Roy S. Kauffman, Sr. and Katie B. (Yoder) Kauffman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Kauffman and a step-mother LaRue (Bossinger) Fisher Kauffman. Surviving are children: Shirley Snyder and husband Ron of Mifflintown and their family, Roy S. Kauffman III of Milroy, Charity Stuck and husband Shawn of Milroy and their family, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, sisters: Esther Fisher of DE, Barbara Hetrick of Burnham, Judy Ann Patterson and husband Larry of Reedsville, and a sister-in-law Mary Kauffman of Kansas. He is also survived by many special nieces and nephews. He graduated in 1966 from Kishacoquillas High School and worked at Fisher's Electronics for 30 plus years. He then went to work at Agway in Belleville and retired from Agway in Mifflintown. Most recently he taxied the Amish. He was a member of the American Legion in Milroy. Most recently he attended the Windy Hill Bible Church in Burnham. He enjoyed getting together and spending time with his family. He enjoyed traveling to DE to visit his sister and going to Honey Creek every morning with friends for breakfast. There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 @ 10:30 a. m. at Henderson-Bohn Funeral Home, 55 N. Main Street, Reedsville, PA with Pastor John Reed officiating. Phyllis M. Hassinger, 96, of 15 Locust Drive, Reedsville, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023. She was born on September 9, 1927 to the late Clyde Wilson and Ruth Margaret (Pecht) Civitts. On January 31, 1946 she married Charles Ray Hassinger, who preceded her in death on August 29, 2021. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David Ray Hassinger, one brother and two sisters. She was the last of her immediate family. Surviving are children: Nancy Jane Kauffman and husband Alan of Strodes Mills, Melinda S. Rosenthall of Reedsville, Thomas Charles Hassinger and wife Melody of Milroy, Timothy Alan Hassinger and wife Renee of Milroy; grandchildren Nate Kauffman and wife Kristin, Matt Kauffman and wife Maddie, Paige Rosenthall, Claire Rosenthall, Adam Rosenthall, Zach Hassinger and wife Jasie, Katie Hassinger and fiance Rhett Stetchock, Derek Yoder and wife Richelle, Ashton Hassinger and wife Tiff, Amanda Hassinger and fiance Luke Vanderhoff, and four great-grandchildren. She graduated in 1945 from Milroy High School, where she was in the marching band and played basketball. She was employed at the Arrow Shirt Factory and Weis Markets, but was primarily a homemaker. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Siglerville and the Happy Hour Sunday School Class. Things she enjoyed include cooking, helping with the church soup sales, going for walks, and playing cards with friends. She loved to crochet and made all the grandchildren afghans. Violet E. "Vi" Maben, 102, formerly of Reedsville, was granted her final wish to fall asleep and wake up in the arms of Jesus on Monday, October 30, 2023. She was born on July 9, 1921 to the late William P. and Mary (Reynolds) Mackey. She married her husband, R. Frank Maben, Sr. on January 13, 1945. He preceded her in death on February 14, 2010. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant brother and a sister, Mary Sterrett. She was the last of her immediate family. Surviving are children Patricia "Trish" Zarkavich and husband Gary of Strodes Mills, Geraldine "Gerre" Wagner and husband Richard L. Wagner, Sr. of Siglerville, Robert Franklin "Frank" Maben, Jr. and wife Kelly of Belleville, 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, as well as many great-great grands and 3 great, great, great-grandchildren. Violet attended Reedsville High School. Earlier in life, she worked at Rice's Grocery in Reedsville, then later on as an Operating Room Technician at Lewistown Hospital for 17 years. She attended Reedsville CMA Church and Grace Covenant Church in Lewistown. She enjoyed traveling to Ireland with her family and was always on the go. Paul C. "Gud" Hardy, 51, of 28 Timber Ridge Drive, Milroy, passed away at 8 p. m. on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital. He was born on Aug. 16, 1972, in Lewistown to Paula Carson of Reedsville. On July 30, 2001, he married his wife, Barbara J. (Watt) Hardy, who survives at home. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons: Gage C. Hardy and Lucas A. Hardy, both at home, brother Sean Hardy of Altoona, a niece Madyson Agnone and husband, Anthony of State College, and an uncle, William "Tobe" Hardy and wife, Jio of Harrisburg. He graduated in 1991 from Indian Valley High School, where he was very involved in athletics, he then attended Penn College of Technology and became certified in diesel mechanics and fleet management, graduating in 1993. He currently served as Vice-President of Ameron Construction in State College, where he started working in 2005 and worked to the present. He belonged to the AMA-American Motorcycle Association. His hobbies were riding dirt bike, mountain biking, side-by-side riding, shooting guns, camping, fishing boating, playing Xbox with his boys and spending time with family and friends. His boys were his world. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but he would always say, "I'm a legend". Legends never die but live on in our hearts. Per his wishes, there will be no services. Robert I Shaw, 89, of 72 Tollgate Hill, Reedsville, passed away on October 26, 2023 at home. He was born on July 9, 1934 to the late Robert Shaw and Sarah L. (Emerick) Shaw. On May 26, 1955, he married his wife Patricia Shaw, who preceded him in death on July 23, 2023. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Peggy Hefkin, Sally Stull and Judy Treaster. He was the last of his immediate family. Surviving are his daughters, Robin E. Cain of Reedsville and Tracey A. Boyer of Reedsville; four grandchildren, Brandon Kline and fiance' Anna of Bloomsburg, Amanda Crosson and husband Aaron of Lewistown, Caitlyn Kucera & husband Steve of Middletown, Rebecca Bunch and husband Bryan of Lewistown; five great-grandchildren, Madison Boyer, Reily Kucera, Grayson Hileman, Jasper Berrier, and Jackson Bunch. He graduated from Armagh-Brown in 1952. He served in the U. S. Navy as a machinist mate 2nd class on the U. S. S. Frank E. Evans, serving from March 9, 1955 - March 5, 1959. He was employed and retired from the Standard Steel in the tool crib of the Machine Shop. A former member of Reedsville Lutheran Church, he served on the church council and served as President four times. He was a Sunday school teacher and choir member. He is a current member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewistown, where he served as a choir member. He enjoyed doing woodworking projects, gardening and later in life he enjoyed putting models together. He loved to read and do crossword puzzles, and also enjoyed singing, and doing folk art painting on his woodworking projects. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and loved having holiday meals with his whole family. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p. m. on Friday, November 3, 2023 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 120 North Main Street, Lewistown with Rev. Allen Hulslander officiating. Family will receive friends from 1 - 2 p. m. prior to the service. Burial will take place at the Church Hill Cemetery. Bernard C. "Butch" Kohler, 80, of 64 Lewland Circle, Lewistown, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at his home. He was born September 24, 1942 in Lewistown, a son of the late Raymond & Mae (Bedlyon) Kohler. On August 17, 1996 he married his wife Leslie "Sue" (Brandt) Kohler. She survives at their home. Along with his wife, he is also survived by: his children, Carl Kohler & partner Annie Kephart; Carla Moyer & partner Steve North; Todd Kohler & partner Deb; step-children, Deborah Sweeney and Shane Moore; nine grandchildren, Crystal Kohler, Rebecca Kohler, Ashley Campbell, Todd Kohler, Jr. , Lee Kohler, Kyle Kohler, Ryan Sweeney, Jody Moore, and Madison Sweeney, as well as 15 great-grandchildren, a sister, Bertha Snyder and a brother, Arthur Kohler & spouse Carol "Sue" Kohler. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Kohler, a stepson, Bobby Moore, and his siblings, Pauline Walters, Delores June Vaughn, Francis Kohler, Phyllis Kohler, Carmen Beers, George Kohler, Kenneth Kohler, and Raymond "Toot" Kohler. Butch retired from Guardian Glass. He was a member of the Yeagertown Fire Company, and he enjoyed doing wood working projects, spending time with his family, doing landscaping work in the yard, and playing darts with his son and stepsons. Jay E. Kline, 76, of 164 King Street, Reedsville, passed away on July 24, 2023. He was born on January 18, 1947 in Lewistown to the late Roman and Mary (Trego) Kline. On April 23, 1967 he married Nancy E. (Davis) Kline, who survives at home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Don and Martha Davis, siblings Donald Kline, Fred Kline, Phyllis Shirk, Jack Kline, and a grandbaby, Tony Kline. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Danny E. Kline and wife Nicole of Lewistown and J. Eric Kline and wife Mary Ann of Yeagertown; grandchildren, Hunter, Tristen, Trinity, Tyler, Taylor, Taya, and Talia Kline; siblings Ruth Rown of Gettysburg and Clayton "Jake" Kline of Mifflinburg. Jay graduated from Kishacoquillas High School in 1965, he then attended Penn State University and was enrolled in the Turf Grass program which he completed in 1967. He became the golf course superintendent at Lewistown Country Club for forty years, retiring in 2012. He was a founding member and Executive Director of the Keystone Association of Golf Course Superintendents. He was a member of the Kish Valley Grace Brethren Church in Reedsville. He loved the Lord and was very supportive of his church. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing and spending time at camp with his family and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the convenience of the family.
