Sherida Miller

Sherida Miller

Age - 89

November 14, 2023

After a long, satisfying life of sacrifice and dutiful service to others, Sherry Miller passed away peacefully in the night on November 9, 2023. She enjoyed good health and with no suffering right up to the end when a known but treated heart condition took her away suddenly. She was 89 years old. She is survived by her brother Richard T. Daniel, her daughter Beth Miller, and her sons Don Phillips and Mark Miller. Her son Richard Miller preceded her in Death. Her dear husband of 60 years, Ornon Henson Miller (Henson), preceded her in death and was buried with full military honors in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. During her life, Sherry was a great mother, dutiful wife, and friend to all. Outgoing, strong independent woman full of life to the end. After putting aside her own ambitions to be a nurse in order to raise a family she was proud of going back to school and getting her Registered Nurses degree. She enjoyed a full professional career of caring service to humanity as a registered nurse in major St. Louis area hospitals' obstetrics (OB) departments assisting the births of thousands of new lives coming into this world. Though she dearly missed this noble occupation, after she retired from nursing she enjoyed a long period of recreation and travel with her husband, and a full social life with many close friends and relatives. She will be particularly well remembered for taking excellent care of her special needs daughter Beth, whom she kept with her her whole life and saw to it Beth enjoyed, and will continue to enjoy, a rich and fulfilling life too. It was Sherry's life long dream as a young girl in rural Illinois to live in St. Louis which was accomplished at an early age, and where she met her husband Henson. But a couple of years after her husband's passing, she made the ultimate sacrifice of leaving her beloved city to move to Austin Texas into a senior living facility. Her goal was to be near her sons who had migrated to Texas, and make sure her daughter Beth was surrounded by a close and strong support system after she was gone. Six years on, her last goal was realized and the plan worked perfectly. After a ceremony in Texas Sherry will be returned to the city she loved, St. Louis, for a farewell ceremony there as well. Then she will have her final rest next to her beloved husband in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Sherry Miller, a good life well lived, strong to the end, and now freed to return to her home of choice after accomplishing closure to all her concerns. She ran the good race all the way to the finish line. May you rest in peace, Sherida (Sherry) Ann Miller.Show more
