Judith "Judy" Ann Hinton, age 79 of Sheffield, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023. Her family will receive friends for visitation at Colbert Memorial Chapel on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 12-1pm. Pastor Buddy Dover will officiate the funeral beginning at 1pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Judy was a lover of Animals and she loved her grandchildren dearly. She was an angel to all and will be missed dearly by everyone she knew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth John Hinton; and brothers, Tommy Willis and Johnny Willis. She is survived by her sons, John Dale Hinton, and John Paul Sanderson (Amanda); daughter, Lynn Ann Daniels; grandchildren, Mikay Ann Hinton, Jessica Lynn Sanderson, Johnny Paul Sanderson, Jr. , and David Anthony Sanderson; sister, Brenda Gail Willis; and many nieces and nephews. Joey Montrell Hampton, born on September 22, 1979 to Calvin Hampton Sr. and Brenda Faye Hampton, Freeman. He departed his earthly life on October 22, 2023. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 5-7 p. m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at 1 p. m. in the chapel. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens. He accepted Jesus into his heart at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. Then, later moved his membership to Christ Chapel where he later married the love of his life in April of 2002. He was a graduate of Colbert Heights High School where he actively played sports. He was a very proud husband and father, dedicating his life to provide for his family. He enjoyed traveling as he was able to see most of the world. Joey joined the Air Force in November of 2003 and served until October of 2015. During his service he was stationed at Hulbert Field AFB, FL, Spangdahlem, Germany and Cannon AFB, NM. He was currently working for PKL Contracting in Saudi Arabia where he instructed and managed employees to carry out aircraft maintenance. He was proceeded in death by his parents and a devoted step-father George McGathey. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife: Lisa Hampton, Muscle Shoals, AL, Three children: Alysia Hampton, Sheffield Al, Breanna Hampton, Boliver TN, Cayla Hampton, Muscle Shoals AL. Peggy Gail Thrasher, 74, of Tuscumbia, AL passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023. She was born on April 13, 1949 along with her twin, Paul Fisher. Visitation will be Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 10 a. m. - 12 p. m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel with a service to follow in the chapel. Pastor Jeff Newton will be officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens. She was married to Danny Thrasher for fifty years. They married on his birthday and he passed away on their 50th wedding anniversary. She was a member of Little Bear Creek Baptist Church. She loved God and her family. She also loved her church family and she would be disappointed if she missed a service. She had two children, Melissa and Wayne that she loved with all her heart. She enjoyed just being home and spending time with her sisters and Paul and Karen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Thrasher; parents, Jesse and Eliza Fisher; son, Wayne Thrasher; brothers, Ray Fisher and Leon Rusty Fisher; sister, Elaine Fisher. Irene Chaney Austin, 97, of Brick/Hatton Leighton, Al, passed from this life October 14th, 2023. Irene was a retired textile worker and a member of Ford City Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, who loved to cook and work in her flower gardens. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, Oct. 17th at Colbert Memorial Chapel at 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm with burial to follow at Colbert Memorial Gardens. Brother Barry Nichols will be officiating. She was preceded in death by her parents Monroe Chaney and Lola Mae Matlock Chaney, her husband James Homer Austin, sisters, Lena Isbell, Louise Chaney Terry, and Christine Berryhill Minor, brothers Grady Chaney and Robert "Bob" Chaney and special son-in-law David Bruce Gargis. She is survived by son Ricky Lenn Austin and wife Donna, of Leighton and daughter Wanda Kay Gargis of Sheffield, sister Loretta Dickerson.
