Gary K. Chandler, devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle passed away peacefully on Monday, November 20th, 2023. He was born and raised in Port Dickinson to parents Donald and Wilma Chandler. His youth was spent with his beloved dog Tippy, and laughing through countless adventures with his sister Carol Chandler, whom he loved dearly. He graduated from Milligan College with a bachelor's degree is Psychology. After college, Gary was stationed in the United States Army in Frankfurt, Germany during the Vietnam War, where he selflessly cared for the mental health of fellow soldiers. After his enlistment, Gary spent much of his time doing what he loved most, fishing and camping in the Adirondack Mountains with his best friends Jim and Doug. He was an environmentalist at heart, and oftentimes picked up and brought home more garbage on fishing trips than actual fish. His love of music was undeniable, and he was never far from a Dan Fogelberg, Foo Fighters, or Beatles album. Always quick with a joke and the life of the party, Gary made everyone around him laugh and his lovable personality made him a friend to all. He had a nickname for everyone he loved, and was famous for his ability to make up silly rhyming songs at the expense of his family, friends, and pets. In 1986, Gary married his bride Sherry, and it wasn't long before they were joined by his children Kate and John. He also loved his animals, which brought him great comfort and joy all throughout his life. Gary was a selfless man who found great joy in serving others. This was evident in his volunteer work, sitting with hospice patients so they wouldn't be alone, and delivering Meals on Wheels to seniors in need. Gary is predeceased by his parents, Donald H. Chandler Sr. and Wilma Chandler. Step-grandchildren Jessica, Stephanie, Kristin, Anthony, Michaela, Jill and Dylan. Many nieces, nephews, dear friends, Trudy and Alice, and her grand pup Winston. Mom was so proud of her family. She adored her grandchildren and cherished every moment with them. Her door was always open for a visit, for a shower or to simply take a nap in between college classes. She had a listening ear and a nurturing touch; she welcomed everyone for a visit. Her family came first, always putting others before herself. Mom loved to play games and cards, especially Pitch, Shanghai Rummy, and Yahtzee. She loved the sun and spending time with family in her pool. She was a "do it yourself" kind of lady with a creative mind, using anything from a needle and thread to power tools. If you needed something fixed, you took it to moms. Mom was meticulous about everything she did, she took pride in her yard and edged her flowerbeds with knives and scissors. She found great joy in feeding and watching her birds along with cuddling and spoiling her grand pup Winston. Mom loved to watch Hallmark movies, go to the movie theater and out to eat, long car rides, ice cream stops, slumber parties and bonfires. Holidays will never be the same without our mother for several reasons, one being her well known homemade Mac and Cheese. She cherished her notes back and forth with her long distance sister Sally, and weekly phone calls for several hours to her sister Kathy, "my sister-my friend-my therapist. " Mom had various jobs over the years, her favorite being The Photo-Booth, on Upper Front Street, as well as many years at Amphenol in Endwell. To the world you are one person but to all of us you are our world. You will be deeply missed, we love you. "But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand, and said my place was ready in heaven far above, and that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love. " -David M. Romano Thank you to Hospice for all you did to help our mother and us in her final days. In honor of Mom's wishes, there will be no services. A Celebration of Life will be held at McGirks Irish Pub, in Binghamton, NY, on December 2nd, 2023 from 1 - 4 PM for anyone who would like to celebrate Cooky's / Bertie's life. Jack Collins

Jack Collins

Age - 85

October 6, 2023

Jack F. Collins, whose favorite expression was "one day at a time," bravely faced his last day of life on October 4, 2023. Sadly the world lost a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend who brought immense joy to others and who impacted countless lives. Jack F. Collins was born on May 27, 1938 to Mae and Clifford Collins in Warsaw, New York. He attended Morrisville College where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering, and then Oswego College where he graduated with a degree in Industrial Arts. He then began his 47-year career at Windsor High School where he taught Industrial Arts, Computer Aided Design, Mechanical Drawing, and was chair of the Industrial Arts Department. He also taught Driver Education, and enjoyed singing "slow down, you're moving too fast" to his unsuspecting students. At Windsor High School, he started both the Golf Team (which he coached for 14 years) and the Chess Club, and for many years was head coach of both the Lady Knights and the Black Knights (boys) basketball teams. In his second season leading the Black Knights, his team went 21-0, capped by a four-overtime sectional final. Over his five decades of coaching, his basketball teams won more than 400 games, including at least 10 League and Section IV championships. In 2003, he was inducted into the Section IV Hall of Fame for "Outstanding Achievement in Athletics". He loved spending time with his precious family and friends, golfing, beer (especially cheap beer), playing sudoku, wearing his Windsor and Syracuse vintage sweatshirts, eating out with his wife and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years Joan Collins, brother Terry, children Kathie (Mark) Schroll, Trisha (Michele Strelec) Collins, Jill (Eddie) Karana, Caroline (John) Moose, John (Celyn) Collins, and fondly known as adopted daughter Jean Martino, grandchildren John Michael (Megan), Kristie, Alyssa (Corbin), Grace, Nicholas, Peyton (Sully), Camden (Mack), Teagan, Joshua, Joseph (Jessica), Jacob and Johnna, and great grandchildren Shane, Maizy and Baby Sullivan. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Judi, Linda, Wayne, Brenda, David, Bridget, Kurt, Glenn, Anna, and Daniel, and brothers-in-law Bruce (Elizabeth) and David (Charla). He is predeceased by parents Mae and Clifford, sister Betty, sister-in-law MaryLouise, and brother-in-law Donald. We will all miss his tremendous presence in our lives more than words can ever express. Funeral plans and a celebration of Jack's life will be announced at a later date.
