Dr. Juanito Llosa "Dr. John" Villahermosa1930-2023Juanito (Dr. John) Villahermosa, 93, died September 4, in Middleton, WI. Dr. John came to Savannah with his wife, Alice (deceased), and their two daughters, Melicia (Mellie) and Bibiana (Bibi) in 1969 to practice with Drs. Gilbert Kelley and Warren Baker. Dr. John went on to serve patients in Northwest Missouri until his retirement in 2014. Dr. John was born on June 26, 1930, to Antonino Bibera and Felicidad Llosa Villahermosa on the island of Leyte in the Philippines, when it was a commonwealth of the United States. He was raised in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, but spent his early adolescent years hiding with family and friends amid the Japanese Occupation of the Philippines during World War II. Following the American liberation, he went on to excel in academics and student leadership roles. He completed his secondary education in Dumaguete and pre-medical studies and medical school at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. In 1957, he traveled to New York for a medical internship at the Arnot Ogden Memorial Hospital in Elmira, followed by a surgical internship at Highland Hospital in Rochester, and then completed a medical residency in general surgery at the University of Rochester. He met Alice (nee Bump), a surgical nurse and instructor, during his internship. They married on May 2, 1959, at St. Catherine Church in Addison, NY. Their two daughters were born during his residency. Upon completing residency, Dr. John returned to the Philippines with his young family to serve as the inaugural director of Holy Child, a Catholic hospital in Dumaguete. In 1965, they returned to the United States and moved to St. Joseph, where Dr. John and Alice worked at the former Sisters Hospital. Four years later, the family settled in Savannah. After practicing for nearly two decades in Savannah, he focused solely on general surgery when he joined the practice of Dr. Edward Beheler in St. Joseph for a brief period of time before retiring from general surgery due to health reasons. He then served patients at several MedClinic sites and continued to provide care at the Savannah clinic upon it becoming a Northwest Health Services site. A few years after arriving in Savannah, Dr. John was named a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and then the International College of Surgeons. He was a member of the Missouri Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, Missouri State Surgical Society, Kansas City Surgical Society, and the Buchanan County Medical Society. Throughout his career, he was recognized for his dedication to patient care by several community groups and was recognized by the American Medical Association for achieving 50 years in medical practice. Upon retirement, he received the Samuel U. Rodgers Achievement Award from the Missouri Primary Care Association in recognition of his commitment to expanding access to health services for Missouri's medically underserved. During their 50 plus years together, Dr. John and Alice remained devoted to their Catholic faith and were active members of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Savannah. Both were recipients of the Rose Award for their years of service to St. Rose. In addition, John was a fourth-degree member of the Henry Bruns Council #6244 Knights of Columbus. Both were avid football fans with wonderful memories of attending Savannah High School, William Jewell College, University of Missouri, University of Notre Dame, and Kansas City Chiefs games. Later in life, their greatest passion was spending time with their great-grandchildren. Following retirement, Dr. John traveled to and from the Philippines several times, allowing for sightseeing opportunities throughout the islands along with trips to Hong Kong and Singapore. He also enjoyed spending his most recent winters in Summerville, SC, where he quickly became a well-loved member of the Carillon at the Ponds community. Dr. John was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, an infant son, and his wife. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mellie and Joseph Pouwels of Middleton and Bibi and Randy Miller of St. Joseph, and by granddaughter Chana Pouwels Roschyk, her spouse Jeremy, and three great grandchildren, Anaya, Creed, and Kale Locke of Granger, IN. Dr. John's family would like to share their appreciation for the care he received prior to his passing. During his decline, he received care from several medical professionals affiliated with University of Wisconsin Health, Medical University of South Carolina, UnityPoint Health-Meriter Wellness Center, Caring Made Easy Home Care, and Agrace Hospice Care. Arrangements pending under the direction of Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, the Andrew County Food Pantry, or to a charity of the donor's choice. Margaret "Margie" Stafford-Franklin1943-2023On December 7th, 2023, our beloved "Margie", 80, rested her head on the pillow next to her loving husband and peacefully passed away. Margie was a beloved sister, wife, mother and grandmother and the true embodiment of what it means to have a heart of gold. A "people-person" in every aspect of her life, Margie touched the lives of so many with her warmth, generosity, kindness and unwavering love. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Margaret (Margie) Ellen Stafford-Franklin was born on September 24, 1943 in their farm home near King City, MO. ; second daughter to Herschel Glen & Edna Irene Guest. Margie attended the one room schoolhouse in Union Star for her primary education and graduated from King City High School in 1961. Immediately following, she began her career with Tootle-Enright National Bank (later merged with American National Bank) in St. Joseph, MO. Margie dedicated twenty years as Assistant Vice-President and Auditor until 1982 when she joined Provident Savings and Loan as Marketing Director. After nine years with Provident, she joined KFEQ/KSJQ in St. Joseph as Sales & Office Manager. She served on many boards and committees throughout the years including being President of the Northwest Missouri Bank Women's Association, Chairman of the Missouri Bank Women's Convention, President of the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce Diplomats, the St. Joseph Advertising Club, and was elected Governor of the four state area representing Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska & lowa. She served on the National American Advertising Federation Board of Directors in Washington, D. C. , and was elected Chairman of the Council of Governors of AAF and AAF Executive committee representing all 49 states. She also graduated from the University of Colorado School of Bank Marketing. After moving to the lake, Margie worked towards earning her Real Estate Broker-Salesperson license in 1995. She has received numerous awards for her success in real estate and is a member of the Bagnell Dam Board of REALTORS. Margie received the Realtor of the Year award in 2002 and previously received the Congeniality Award. She obtained the designations of Certified Residential Specialist, Graduate Residential Institute, Accredited Buyers Representative and Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist. She was with Gaslight Gundaker Properties, Four Seasons, and most recently Keller Williams. A newspaper article published on February 5, 1998 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the headline read: "Former bank executive succeeds in real estate". Here is an excerpt from the article: "Margie Stafford is remembered fondly by those in the St. Joseph area who knew this dynamic woman before her relocation to the Lake of the Ozarks in the fall of 1994. " She had worked in St. Joseph for over thirty years when she moved to the Lake. Margie's passion for real estate did not supersede her love for family and friends. Joining Bill Franklin in 1993, she immediately shared the love and responsibility of his two children, Rob and Chrisssy Franklin. Hosting their college friends from MU at the Lake and later their families and friends was Margie's pure enjoyment! Planning menus and having plenty of food were at the top of her list. When she put on her apron and rang the dinner bell, you knew good food was on the table. She always said one of her most precious moments was taking Melanie (Rob's wife) shopping for maternity clothes for the arrival of their first Grandchild, Keely. And the greatest honor was planning Chrissy's wedding held on the beach on Marco Island, Florida (expensive, but worth it). She will always be "Nanie Margie" to her Grandchildren; Keely Shaye Franklin & William Carter Franklin, Kaylin Madison McCan, William James McCan and Maxwell Glen (named after Margie's father) McCan. Anything (well almost anything) they wanted, Margie did her best to provide. Whether it was hosting 10 little girls for Keely's 10th birthday or Carter's baseball team, she always welcomed the event with open arms and heart. Everyone loved how she would post the weekend menus on the refrigerator and made sure there would be plenty of frozen chocolate bananas. She always referred to the family as "our family. . . our children. . . our grandchildren". Her love for her husband, Bill Franklin, was never ending, exciting and always surprising. Margie once stated that "His love for his children was what attracted me on our first meeting and never changed. He is Papa Bill to the grandchildren, a generous and loving father, a wonderful husband, best friend, confidant, and supporter in all the ups and downs of real estate". They traveled, went boating, lived on the waters edge at the Lake, spent 9 weeks in the winter on Marco Island, Fl, and she even slept on the top bunk at the Big Buck Club in Bigelow. She loved spending time at the cabin in Bigelow, helping with the decorating and giving advice on remodeling. If you ever received a Christmas letter from Margie, it was interesting, entertaining and described a fun-filled year. Margie was strong, loving, caring and had a great motto she used in real estate. "Who's Number One? You are!" She lived by those words in every aspect of her life. She found joy and fulfillment in doing for others. . . and she never met a stranger. Margie had a strong bond with her sister, Martha, who she talked to often and would get together with on holidays. Margie is preceded in death by Charles Stafford in 1988 and her parents. Surviving Sister-Martha Rainey Drake (Gene) of Maryville, MO, Rob & Melanie Franklin of Lenexa, KS. , Chrissy & Chris McCan of St. Joseph, MO, and grandchildren Keely Shaye Franklin & William Carter Franklin, Kaylin Madison, William James and Maxwell Glen McCan. Teresa Jean McCray1956-2023Teresa peacefully went to be with her parents and brothers while surrounded by family and friends on Monday, December 4th, 2023. She was born on October 12th, 1956, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Kensel and Frankie Miller. She was one of six children. Teresa began her journey as the world's greatest mother on December 29th, 1973, when Darrick Shane Inscho was born. Following Darrick were Jeremy Duane, born on April 20th, 1977, and Tabitha Michelle, born on August 9th, 1982. On June 1st, 1996, she married Rodney McCray of Agency, Missouri, and was married to him until death did they part. She became stepmom to Taylor and Ryan McCray whom she loved as her own. Through the years she gained 2 daughters-in-law, Carmen whom is married to Darrick, and Lacy whom is married to Jeremy, and 1 son-in-law, Brock whom is married to Tabitha. Teresa loved everybody she came into contact with, especially the friends of her children and grandchildren. Her house was always open and food was always being served. If you were hungry at Teresa's, that was your own fault. Christmas time was definitely her favorite time of year. She watched Hallmark Christmas movies everyday, starting in October, and she could be heard singing along to almost every Christmas song playing on the radio. Her house was always decorated the weekend following Thanksgiving and was always so warm and festive. One of her favorite traditions was getting together with the girls and baking Christmas cookies. Teresa had more friends than a person can count and she loved to travel. She always greeted you with a smile, a hug and a "How are you?". David Ramsey

David Ramsey

Age - 70

November 28, 2023

David L. Ramsey1953-2023On November 24, 2023, David Lee Ramsey, 70, laid down his working tools and went on to be with the Great Architect of the Universe. Dave was born April 15, 1953, in Savannah, MO, to William and Nannetta (Barker) Ramsey. On May 18, 1974, Dave married Christin (Friday) Ray and they shared 49 and a half years of (mostly) wedded bliss. They were a true "power couple" and always championed each others' endeavors. Dave was a proud graduate of the class of 1971 from Central High School and every 10 years spent a good portion of his time tracking them all down for their class reunions. As much as he lamented over the process, reuniting with his friends was always a joy. After high school, Dave did a quick stint at Missouri Western State College where he spent more time as a male cheerleader at football games than he did in class. He realized at this point, it was time to pivot his career interest and signed up for an electricians apprenticeship. He completed that process and was a member of IBEW Local 545. He spent 34 years in the electric power industry, transitioning his career in 1987 to a job as Director of Member Service at the Rural Electric Coop in Savannah, MO. During that time, he returned to Missouri Western to complete his degree. Less cheering, more studying this time around. The Missouri Rural Electric organization was the backbone of his career, serving in a variety of capacities, including General Manager of Tri County Electric and Energy Efficiency Program Manager at Associated Electric. He was inducted into the Missouri Institute of Cooperative's Hall of Fame in 2018. He loved what he did and never left a room with a light on. He was incredibly active in Freemasonry and was a member in the Savannah Lodge #71, Moila Shrine Temple, Royal Order of Jesters and the Scottish Rite. Dave was appointed to the advancing line of The Grand Lodge of Missouri and served as the Most Worshipful Grand Master in 2012-13. He was a multifaceted gentleman and reinvented himself many times. His younger years were spent calf roping and devoted to his horses. As Dave and the horses grew older, his hobbies seemed to shift. One day, he announced he was selling "anything that ate something other than gasoline" and thus, Dave the golfer was born. After retirement they split their year between St Joseph, MO, and Sun City, AZ. Wintertime Dave was happiest sitting in the sunshine reading a book or enjoying golf or a cocktail with his snow bird friends. Summertime Dave adored spending time with his kids, his favorite son-in-law and grandkids. He loved a good power walk, a strong bourbon and to solve a problem. Above all things, he was a true family man and lived a life of service to others. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Dennis Ramsey and Donnie Ramsey. Survivors include his wife, Friday; his children, Carra (Randy) Roth, and Timothy Ramsey; grandchildren, Jack, Vivian, Eleanor and August Roth; siblings Christie (Don) Elliott, Rhonda (Rick) Petrarca, Candace Hamm, and Cheri (Jeff) Shepard, Danny (Marylynn) Willis. Jesters' Rose Ceremony 5:00 P. M. Wednesday, November 29, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where the family will gather with friends for visitation from 5:30 to 8:30 P. M. A Celebration of Life and Masonic Service will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 1:00 p. m. at Wyatt Park Baptist Church. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
