Juanita Hebert Mazzola was born on April 9, 1937, to Lyman Hebert and Sarah Melancon Richard in Louisiana and she passed away peacefully with her family by her side in her home of 58 years in Hamshire, TX on October 5, 2023. Juanita was a proud alumnus of the Hamshire Bulldogs class of 1955 where she was a band member and twirler. While working at Carnation Ice Cream shop, she met Sam Mazzola. Their love blossomed and they were married on July 20, 1957. They remained committed to each other and to their five children for 49 beautiful years. Sam passed on their 49th wedding anniversary, in which Juanita saw his passing as the full circle of their life together marking the day they married as well as the glorious day that Sam entered his eternal home. She was a seamstress with her Aunt Mabel making custom curtains for JC Penney. After raising her five beautiful children, she began working at Hamshire-Fannett High School in maintenance. This created the opportunity to have many cherished memories with her grandchildren in high school, including frequent lunches and quick visits between classes. Juanita was a Catholic woman of deep spiritual faith. Even through life's challenges, she never wavered on her dedication to Jesus, as well as the Holy Family. Through her faith and Catholic upbringing, Juanita nurtured her love and devotion to the Blessed Mother, Mary, using Mary's maternal love for Jesus as her guide to raising her own family. Over the last ten years, she began researching Saint Faustina who was given the gift of the Divine Mercy Chaplet from the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. This became a constant in Juanita's life through times of personal trial and struggle, as well as praying for her family, friends, and the world through difficult times. As Juanita was preparing to transition to her Heavenly home, her family recognized that she would pass on Saint Faustina's feast day. Juanita is preceded in death by her husband, Sam Anthony Mazzola, and sons, Rickey Lynn Mazzola, and Tony Mazzola. Juanita is survived by her daughters, Joni Ray and her husband, Carey, Lori Blanda and her husband, Louis; her son Johnny "Bu" Mazzola and his wife, Kim; her grandchildren Nicole Renner and her husband, Wes; Anthony Mazzola and his wife, Kalie; Ryan Ray and his wife, Brandi; Luke Ray and his wife, Ryan; Tanner and Ross Mazzola; Sam and Jake Blanda; Emily Varnado, and her husband, Dalton; and great grandchildren Amy Beth Mazzola; Sarah Renner; Jonah, Carter and Jackson Ray; Heidi and Molly Varnado; Teal and Tatum Mazzola, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ms. Mazzola's Rosary will be recited Sunday, October 8, 2023, at 4:00 p. m. with her gathering of family and friends to follow until 7:00 p. m. , at Broussard's, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Diane Covington McKee, 64, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Diane had many passions, but family was always first and foremost in her heart and mind. At the young age of 22, she met Donald McKee, in Port Arthur and, after a mere two months of dating, the two were married. Over their 41 years of marriage, Diane and Don enjoyed many adventures together, including favorite trips to Yosemite National Park, Alaska, and countless cruises. But their biggest shared adventure was raising their three children, Summer, Patricia, and Brandon. Their home was never short of love and laughter, and Diane was the matriarch that always brought the family together. Diane was known by all for her hospitality and warmth, her delicious pies and cookies, her love of Christmas, and her passion for quilting. She was the type of Mom who made matching dresses for the girls when they were young, and even sewed Summer's prom gown. Her baskets of Christmas cookies were legendary, and open any closet in her house and you were certain to find a stash of Christmas decorations just waiting to be unleashed. She loved to host Thanksgiving dinners for her brothers and sister and their families and would often make the 5 1/2 hour trek from Corpus Christi, where she and Don lived for 35 years, to the Port Arthur area for family gatherings. Any baby born into her tribe was certain to receive a handmade quilt along with endless kisses. She truly believed that a quilt would not just warm the body, but comfort the soul, and you could feel the love she put into each and every stich. Beyond this, Diane was a woman of endless faith, and it was this steadfast conviction which gave her solace when she was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, formerly known as Lou Gehrig's disease). Diane's fortitude and courage in the face of this horrendous disease cannot be overstated. She was a champion to the very end, quick to laugh even when she could hardly breathe, and endlessly saying "I love you" with her eyes when she was no longer able to speak. While her time with us was much, much too short, Diane leaves behind a legacy of love. She is already tremendously missed, but we are eternally grateful that we had her for the time that we did, and for the countless memories of times together etched in our hearts. Those left to cherish Diane include her loving husband, Don McKee; her daughters, Summer McKee and wife, Steph Batten, and Patricia Benton and husband, Jeremy Benton; son, Brandon McKee; granddaughter, Kerry Carpenter; and grandson, Jonah Batten McKee, as well as her brothers, Aaron Covington, Marc Covington and wife, Denise Covington, Roger Covington and wife, Dana Covington; and her "baby" sister, Lauri Grantham and husband, Gary Grantham. Diane loved spending time with her countless nieces, nephews, cousins and grandnieces and grandnephews, all of whom were always welcome in her home and at her table. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Samuel Louis Covington and Marga Hoelscher Covington. A gathering of Diane's family and friends will take place at 10:00 a. m. , Friday, December 1, 2023, at First Church of God, 3800 Jimmy Johnson Blvd in Port Arthur, Texas. Her mortal remains will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in support of Houston Methodist Hospital's ALS Research Program. Checks can be mailed c/o Houston Methodist Hospital Foundation, P. O. Box 4384, Houston, Texas 77210-4384. (c)Broussard's Mortuary 2017-2023 Built ByShow more

Jack Stubblefield

Age - 67

November 30, 2023

Jack Leroy Stubblefield, 67, of Silsbee, Texas, departed this life at 9:30 p. m. , Saturday, November 25, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, in Beaumont, Texas. He was born on January 3, 1956, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Ethel Ellis Stubblefield and Keith Robert Stubblefield. Jack was a resident at Paradigm at the Pines Nursing Facility, Silsbee, before entering the hospital. His high school years placed him the in Prescott band as a trumpet player then later he played football as a Right Guard and as the team's kicker. He graduated from Prescott High School in Arizona, received electronics training thru ITT while in Houston, Texas and attended ITT College in Chester, Virginia where he received a Batchelor's degree in project management. He attended church at Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church in Chester, Virginia before coming to Silsbee, Texas. Jack enjoyed support to his local Arizona sheriff's department in search and rescue. He was initially in a Radio Emergency Associated Communication Team (REACT) which later became the Prescott Search and Rescue. Jack was appointed the commander of his local search and rescue team and received training on locating downed aircraft signals from the "black box" also known as an Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT). He was certified as an aircraft direction finding team lead and in turn trained members of the local sheriff's department, volunteers known as the "Jeep Posse", and team mates on the technology and its use. He also received training from the sheriff's department on preserving the crime scene and its associated forensic evidence. He had a special love for working with his hands and for many years worked as an electronics engineer in Colorado, Texas and later in Virginia. Jack's initial career netted him work in the seismic testing field where he traveled across the south through Louisiana to Texas and north up to Michigan and Colorado. Jack also loved science and space. One of his favorite TV series was Star Trek. He also engaged in support to the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) by volunteering to participating in analytical research on his personal computer during off hours. SETI is a project of the Berkeley SETI Research Center to analyze radio signals, searching for signs of extraterrestrial intelligence. This program was implemented to do processing off campus for the Berkeley California University. They segmented out routines and installed them on remote PC's when they did not have sufficient on campus computing power. During Jack's career with American Machine and Foundry or commonly known as AMF Bowling he taught himself how to operate Computer-aided design (CAD) programs. This led to his ability with his mechanical and existing electronics knowledge to redesign the dual alley cleaning equipment combining a 'cleaner' and an 'oiler' into a single unit. Thereby reducing equipment and making bowling alley maintenance more simplified. His CAD skills permitted him to design engineer components and parts on a computer. The new components and modified parts CAD drawings supported mass production operations at AMF bowling for this newly improved equipment. Survivors include his sister, Jane Bulman and her husband, Scott; brothers, Richard and his wife, Mary, and Dale Stubblefield and his wife, Karen; and several nieces and nephews. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Keith Stubblefield and wife of forty-one years, Wilma Stubblefield. Jack's memorial service will be held at a later date. His committal will be held at Broussard's Crematorium, under the direction of Broussard's, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. (c)Broussard's Mortuary 2017-2023 Built ByShow more
