Joyce Miller Swensen, 96, of Boise, Idaho, passed away December 28, 2022. Joyce was born, raised, and educated in eastern Idaho. After graduation from Ricks College, she came to Boise with her sister Beth to teach school, taught 23 years, graduated from Boise State University, and has been here ever since. Joyce married Rulon Swensen, former state auditor, state treasurer, and county commissioner, in 1946, and together they raised three children: Robert, Richard, and Sheri. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Joyce served in many capacities and was a regular temple attendee. Survivors include: Daughter-in-law, Elma Swensen, and her three children, Rachel (David) Schalck and their daughter Nyaa of Portland, OR, and Archie and Robert Swensen of Boise; Son Richard (Joan) Swensen and their children: Heather (Bryan) Wheeler and their children Max, Kyle, Thomas, and Claire of Eagle; Stephanie (Caleb) Steele and their children, Tippy, Gage, Ava, and Eli of Lemorre, CA; Christy (Tucker) Wilkins and their children, Lucy and Bruce of Nampa; Amber (Joey) Checchio and their daughters Isabel and Matilda of Midway, UT; Andrew (Rebecca) Swensen and their daughter Adelynn of Caldwell, ID; and David (London) Swensen of Logan, UT; Daughter Sheri Swensen and her son Justin and his children Lexie, Travis, and Lauren Swensen of Boise; As well as numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Rulon, son Robert Scott, parents Marvin and Bertha Miller, brother Emerson "Buzz" Miller, and sisters Beth Miller Lowry and Shirley Miller DuFosse. As per Joyce's request, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to your favorite charity or take your family out to dinner. The family will greet friends on Tues. , January 3, from 10:00-10:45am, at the chapel at 2290 E. Warm Springs Ave. , in Boise, with the service to begin at 11:00am. Joyce will be laid to rest at Pioneer Cemetery in Boise.
