Joyce Cecilia Shelton, 79, of Canyon, TX died Monday, June 20, 2022. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p. m. , Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Fritch Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Fritch, TX with Lavon Thompson officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Joyce was born March 17, 1943, in Okmulgee, OK to Cecil and Eunice Chapman. After earning her Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics from Texas Tech, Joyce began her teaching career. She later earned her Master's Degree in Education from West Texas State University. When not teaching, she enjoyed working with her flowers, especially her roses, eating her son's barbeque, and reading cookbooks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin "Smitty" Shelton; her parents, Cecil, and Eunice Shelton; and brother, Leland Chapman. Survivors include her son, Kevin Leslie Shelton, and grandson, Mark Evans. Family visitation will be from 5-6:00 p. m. , Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at the funeral home.
