Joshua Wayne Whisman, 42, of New Providence, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, September 7, 2023. Born in Hershey, he was the son of the late David Wayne Whisman and Deborah Irene (Woods) Boyd. He was the step-son of the late James Boyd. Josh was the loving husband of Brandi (Zook) Whisman for over 18 years. Josh had worked as a landscaper for several years. He loved riding his Harley Sportster and cooking for his large family. He was known for his amazing Mac N' Cheese. He also enjoyed camping and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. Josh loved always being right and making others laugh. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 6 children: Austin Polizzi (Peyton), Jeremy Absher (Lexi), Savannah Shertzer (Hunter), Nick Whisman (Wren), Alex Whisman, Joshua "J. D. " Whisman"; 2 grandchildren, Jace and Maisyn and 4 siblings: Ray Whisman, Tony Whisman (Pam), Jimmy Boyd, and Sameigh Scharon (Johnny). He was preceded in death by two miscarried children and a granddaughter, Ava. Services will be at the discretion of the family. Glen L. "Mick" Weicksel, 96, of Quarryville, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. He was the loving husband of the late Marian E. (Cochran) Weicksel, with whom he shared 70 years of marriage at the time of her passing in 2021. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Donald E. and Gertrude (Leaman) Weicksel. Glen was a graduate of the Southern Lancaster County Joint High School, class of 1945. Soon after graduation, Glen enlisted in the U. S. Navy, proudly serving his country from 1945 - 1948. He truly loved his 35 years of employment performing trim and finish carpentry for William Murry & Son. In addition to being a master craftsman, Glen was also a master gardener, growing beautiful roses and having an impeccable garden at his home. He was also known to make the best chicken barbeque. Glen enjoyed traveling with his wife, Marian, especially his visits to Bermuda, Costa Rica, the Panama Canal, and Hawaii. Active in his community, he was a 40-year member of the Quarryville Lions club where he served as President and Secretary and was honored as a Melvin Jones Fellow. Glen was baptized at Union Presbyterian Church in 1928 and was a member there his entire life, serving several terms on session and serving as a liaison to the Donegal Presbytery. Glen is survived by his daughters, Diane Weicksel, of Reynoldsburg, OH, and Susan Mull, wife of Earl, of Quarryville; grandchildren, Andrew Smeltz, husband of Elisabeth Turchi, of Shippensburg, and Jasmine Burrell, of Columbus, OH; great-grandchildren, Alexander Smeltz, Theresa Smeltz, and Miles Holtsberry; sisters, Mary Alice Sheller, of Corpus Christi, TX, and Ruth Ann Rohrer, of Quarryville; and a sister-in-law, Brenda Wallace, wife of Jim, of Port Deposit, MD. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred, Robert, Donald, John, and James Weicksel; sisters, Emma Smith and Lucille Armstrong; and a son-in-law, James Smeltz, Jr. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Union Presbyterian Church, 5637 Street Road, Kirkwood, PA 17536, with a viewing at the church from 11:00 a. m. - noon. Larry Mylin, known to many as Tim, 78, of Quarryville, passed away unexpectedly at his home, October 25, 2023. Born and raised in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Herbert J. and Hazel (Handel) Mylin. Being born on a farm in Lancaster County, Tim quickly learned he had a passion for riding, raising, and breeding Arabian horses. This remained a hobby of his into adulthood. He was a natural historian of Western and Native American culture and could quickly provide countless dates and facts on the subjects. In October of 1965, Tim joined the United States Army to honorably serve his country, until 1967. He recounted many stories of his service time but was most proud of serving with the 101st Airborne. He was a selfless man with a giving heart and always rooted for the underdog. He was a member of the American Legion, Amvets, VFW, and the Slumbering Groundhog Lodge, where he was a member for over 30 years. In 1971, Tim partnered with Mr. Snyder and together they started Snyder Mylin Excavating. They ran the business together successfully for over 28 years. In 1999, Mr. Snyder sold his half of the business to Tim's sons, which allowed them to work side by side with their dad until his retirement in 2021. The business would not be where it is today had it not been for Tim's work ethic and dedication to customer service. In his free time, he was frequently found on his motorcycle. Spending countless hours on the open road is where Tim found peace. He rode through all 50 states and loved to share stories of his travels. His most prized memories were created with his family. He cherished all the times he was able to share with them. Tim will be missed by many, especially his sons, Matthew Mylin, husband of Christina of Quarryville, and Ethan Mylin, husband of Andrea of New Providence; 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 3 sisters and 4 brothers; as well as his loving companion, Alice Peterson of Lancaster. He was preceded in passing by 3 brothers and his wife, Linda Jo Mylin. The family will receive guests at the Charles F. David E. Reed, 66, of Quarryville, passed away on October 24, 2023, surrounded by his loving family, to join his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born on September 3, 1957, in Steubenville, OH, to the late Katherine Porter Reed and Wilbur Reed. David leaves behind a rich legacy of love and warmth. He is survived by his devoted wife of 20 years, Rita Rhoads Martinez Reed, and his cherished stepchildren Juan Martinez (Ashlee Griggs), Carlos Martinez (Elizabeth Yohey), Jerome Martinez (Melissa Adams), Rosa Martinez, and Manuel Martinez (Kaitlin Marquis), who brought immense joy to his life. His heart also belonged to his ten grandchildren, whose laughter and mischief filled his days with happiness. A graduate of Wintersville High School, Ohio, David served in the U. S. Army before pursuing his studies at Ohio State University. His commitment to faith was evident through his active involvement in the New Holland Spanish Mennonite Church, where his contributions to the preaching rotation were deeply valued. When he wasn't sharing his passion for spirituality and discipleship, David could be found cheering for his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, his enthusiasm for sports an integral part of his vibrant personality. Prior to his dedicated work as the IT Director for Integrative Health Consults and his invaluable assistance with IT for Birth Care Midwifery Birth Center, David spent his earlier years exploring the open roads as a long-distance trucker. His dedication and skills made a significant impact in every role he undertook. He leaves behind a treasured bond with his siblings, Larry Reed (Kim) of Mason, OH, and Cathy Reed Jenkins (Brad) of Steubenville, OH, as well as his step-siblings George Porter of St. Clairsville, OH, John Porter (Mary) of Punta Verde, FL, David Porter (Audra) of Hopedale, OH, and Ruth George (Don, deceased) of Wintersville, OH. Though he was preceded in death by Hester Porter Blabac (Mike, deceased) and Janice Porter, his memory lives on in the hearts of his nieces, nephews, and all those who were fortunate enough to know him. David's life was a testament to love, dedication, and unwavering faith. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the warmth he brought into the lives of those around him. Vera Z. Sensenig, 93, of Quarryville, passed away peacefully at home on October 17, 2023. Born in New Holland, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Ada (Zimmerman) Nolt. She was the wife of the late Jeremiah O. Sensenig, with whom she shared sixty-eight years of marriage until the time of his passing on April 11, 2021. She was a member of Fairmount Mennonite Church (Weaverland Conference) and supported her late husband in his leadership in the church for many years. She was a patient, loving mother and faithfully took care of her special son, Marlin. She enjoyed sewing and loved when her family came to visit her. Vera is survived by six sons; Elmer husband of Annetta Sensenig, Leon husband of Lucy Sensenig, Jere Jr. husband of Barb Sensenig all of Quarryville, Jason husband of Susan Sensenig of Mt. Joy, James husband of Sandy Sensenig of Quarryville, and Marlin at home; two daughters, Ada Mae wife of Larry Newswanger of Parkesburg, and Vera Jane wife of Vernon Fox of Quarryville; a daughter-in-law, Sadie Sensenig of Kirkwood; 34 grandchildren, 91 great grandchildren, a sister, Pauline (Landis) Weaver and sister in laws, Loretta (Aaron) Nolt and Minerva (Elmer) Nolt. In addition to her husband and her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Earl Sensenig, two grandsons, Kent and Eric Newswanger and siblings, Martin, Mabel, Amos Jr. , Elmer, Aaron Nolt and sister in laws, Eva (Martin) and Elizabeth (Amos Jr. ). Beverly Anne (Smith) ConklinAugust 19, 1947 - October 13, 2023, born in Windsor, NY and Strasburg, PA resident. With a somber heart full of gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we honor Beverly Anne (Smith) Conklin, as she finds her peace in heaven. Born in Windsor, NY on August 19, 1947, Bev's legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering faith has touched and inspired all who knew her. Known for her boundless compassion, Bev judged no one and forgave everyone, setting an example of grace for all to follow. Together with her loving husband, Dave, Bev cherished a marriage spanning an incredible 57 years. Their journey together bore the family she loved so deeply: their daughter, Deborah Anne (Conklin) Ryan and her husband, Timothy; their son, David Alan Conklin and his wife, Jodi; and their cherished grandchildren Angie, Cheyanna, Cayden, Aaron, Emily, Haley, Matthew, Marcus, and several great grandchildren. Bev was also a beloved sister to Wanda Chisarick, Shirley Best, Marie Benedict, and the late Fred Smith. In her professional life, Bev's dedication as a group leader at Maxima in Lancaster, PA was evident, with a service that spanned over three decades and included numerous awards. Her passion extended beyond work; her love for travel saw her and her husband, Dave, embark on a memorable two-month journey across the country, exploring its many wonders. Bev's character shone brightly in her everyday actions. A devout follower of Jesus, she embodied His teachings in every aspect of her life. With a heart that sought to serve before being served, Bev poured love into every meal, cherished her neighborhood friendships, and hosted lively family get-togethers marked by games and her favorite - ranch dressing. In her final days, Bev spoke with heartfelt anticipation about reuniting with her mother, whom she lost in her youth and commonly talked about throughout her life. A special mention must be made of Mary Tart, Bev's caregiver. Often referred to by Bev as "her angel," Mary's care, love, and support have been an anchor for the family. The many that have been involved in spending time with Bev deserve a massive thanks as well. A Celebration of Bev's life will take place at Freedom Life Church, 447 Noble Rd. , Christiana, PA on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 11 a. m. The family will greet friends at the church from 10-11 a. m. There will be a luncheon following the service. Blaine Malven Haines, 87, died October 5, 2023, at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, where he had been a resident for the past five years. Born on a rainy March 15, 1936, to the late Malven Day and Vercel Margaret (McNaughton) Haines in Clarion County, Pa. , he spent much of his early adult life in the Clarks Mills, Pa. , area in Mercer County where he graduated from Hadley High School in 1954 and shortly thereafter joined the U. S. Army during the Korean War era. While in the Army he married his high school sweetheart Rose Mary Jones in 1955. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he was appointed postmaster at Clarks Mills, where he and Rose Mary also owned and operated Haines Superette for many years. Later he was appointed postmaster in Fredonia, Pa. , and in 1983 he was named Quarryville postmaster in Lancaster County, Pa. He retired from that office in 1991. He enjoyed his retirement years perfecting his woodworking skills, creating beautiful oak and cherry furniture for friends, family, and clients. He was a master repairer of antique furniture and a general whiz at fixing anything broken. He also enjoyed hunting and gardening--and was into organic gardening before it was fashionable. He was a lifelong Methodist, most recently a member of Quarryville Memorial United Methodist Church. Among the things he was most proud of was his role as chairman of the building committee of Clarks Mills United Methodist Church when it made the decision to build a modern building in the early 1970s. Completed in the mid-1970s, the building houses a vibrant church community to this day. He was a Freemason and served as Master of the Sandy Lake, Pa. , Lodge in the 1970s. While in Quarryville he was active with the Lions Club and was presented with the Melvin Jones Fellow award by the Lions Club International Foundation for "dedicated humanitarian services. "He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and three siblings, Blair Haines, Evelyn Fagley, and Lois Slater. He is survived by his sister Phyllis Hoobler, of Sheakleyville, Pa. ; a daughter Cindy Colleen Graham and husband Nate Graham, MD, of Bradford, Pa. ; a son Thomas Blaine and wife Brenda Kay Riley Haines of Walkersville, Md. ; grandchildren, Erin Graham Burd (Chris), Brandon Lars Graham (Maggie), Lauren Haines, and Jenna Haines; and great-grandchildren, Zachary and Alexandra Burd, and Theodore and Charlotte Graham. A Funeral Service will be held at Clarks Mills Community Church, 3813 Hadley Road, Clarks Mills, PA on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 12:00 noon. There will be a viewing at the church from 10:30 a. m. - noon. Interment will be in Hadley Cemetery, Mercer County, under the supervision of Robert L.
