Josephine Rachel Fankhouser, 92, of New Martinsville, WV left this world on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at her daughter's home with her family by her side. Josephine was born August 3, 1931, in Hannibal, OH daughter of the late Earl Brady and Bessie (Wilt) Henthorn, Sr. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading her Bible, sewing, caring for her family and her ministries with folks. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Paden City. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Grant Fankhouser; brother, Earl Brady Henthorn, II and sister, Jessie Marie Henthorn. Surviving are her three children, Stephanie Fankhouser of New Martinsville, WV, Samuel (Pam) Fankhouser of Cameron, WV and Rose (Denny) Wichterman of New Martinsville, WV and several nieces, nephews and cousins. At Josephine's request there will be no services. She will be laid to rest near the love of her life in Greenlawn Memorial Park in New Martinsville, WV. Rosellen "Fritzi" Hill, 98, of New Martinsville, WV left this world on Thursday, November 16, 2023 while at her home. Fritzi was born September 6, 1925, in New Martinsville, WV daughter of the late Carl W. and Caroline "Carrie" (Miller) Kappel. She was a retired secretary for Wetzel County Schools, a volunteer for Wetzel County Hospital with twenty years of service and a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kendall Hill; nine siblings, Charles Kappel, Henry Kappel, Margaret Morris, Lorella Schamp, Carl Kappel, Jack Kappel, Herb Kappel, Dorothy Moore and Dee Meyer. Surviving are her four children, Scott (Linda) Hill of New Martinsville, WV, Jay (Mary Beth) Hill of McMurray, PA, Timothy (Suzanne) Hill of New Martinsville, WV and Shaney (John) Faini of Wheeling; nine grandchildren, Rebecca (Brandon) Heslep, Maria Faini, Anthony (Jenelle) Faini, Patrick (Victoria) Hill, Melissa (Carter) France, Joe (Lindsey) Faini, Christine (Mike) Gardner, Kendall Hill and Elizabeth (Matt) Crall; twelve great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Elizabeth Robina (Peddie) Bayle, 77, of New Martinsville, WV left this life on Thursday, November 16, 2023 while at Wheeling Hospital. Graduated from Altoona High School in 1965 and attended Altoona Area Vocational- Technical School, Practical Nursing Program, graduated 1966. Worked as an LPN in hospitals in the areas where she lived until the birth of her children. Then worked as a loving, caring mother raising her three children. As the youngest child moved on to middle school she returned working as a LPN. Continued working as a LPN and later attended West Virginia Northern College Nursing Program, graduated in 1995. Worked as a RN in a Nursing Home and Doctor's office until retirement in 2011. Liz cherished time with her family, grandchildren, and great grandson, and also cherished the time with the women of the LIFT Prayer Team. Over her life span she taught Sunday School classes, worked with her husband with the youth, worked in the women groups, and played the piano in the churches she attended. She will be missed by many family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Virginia (Walker) Peddie; in-laws, James and Betty Bayle and brother, John. Surviving is her husband, Larry; children, Lawrence E. "Mick" Bayle, Jr. and wife Lynn of Princeton, WV, Amy Lynn (Bayle) Mapel and husband Mel of Columbus, GA, Mark Allen Bayle and wife Jill of Princeton, WV; grandchildren, Jacob Immanuel Mapel and wife Kelcie, Sara Elizabeth (Bayle) VanBlaricom, Madison Charlene (Mapel) Paxton and husband Will, Ryan Gregory Bayle, Brandon John Mapel, Ashton Kelly Mapel, Bethany Elia Bayle, and great grandson Carson Gray VanBlaricom. John Matthew Staley, 60, of New Martinsville, WV passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 3, 1963 to the late Bernard and Nancy (Moellendick) Staley in New Martinsville, WV. After graduating from Valley High School (1981), John served his country with honor as a member of the United States Navy. Following his military service, he was employed at Dalzell-Viking Glass, J. C. Mensore Distributing, The UPS Store, Consol Marshall County Coal Mine and Westlake. Family was at the center of John's world. He was a loving father, son, brother, husband, uncle and dear friend. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mark Staley. John is survived by his partner and best friend, Judy (Wade) Staley; sons, Sean (Ashley) Staley of Portland, OR and Derek (Ryanne) Staley of Dover, DE; his sister Joyce (Sergio) Salazar of San Diego, CA, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a proud West Virginian who loved his state, his family, his dog, Dexter, and his two cats, Pudgie and Pig Pen. Erica Lou Hall, 88, formerly of New Martinsville, WV passed away Sunday, October 15, 2023 surrounded by family in Murfreesboro, TN. Erica was born in Sistersville, WV to the late John A. "Jake" Jennings and Nellie Steepleton Jennings. Erica was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Her family was the most important thing to her, and spending time with them brought her immense joy. She enjoyed camping, playing the piano and singing. Before moving to Murfreesboro TN in 2018 to be near family, Erica was an active member of her church, New Martinsville Church of God, now the Refuge Church. Being in service to others was an important part of her faith, and she was a blessing to many people throughout her life. She served with the soup kitchen ministry of her church, which cooked and served meals to the community. She was the treasure of the women's ministry, which helped in raising funds to support the work of the church. She also played keyboard with the praise team at church. Erica was a long-time employee of Peoples Banks, formerly First National Bank New Martinsville. She retired in 2000 after 42 years of service. Erica was preceded in death by her parents, John A. "Jake" Jennings and Nellie Steepleton Jennings, Sister and Brother-In-Law, Patrick and Lois Herrick, and Step-Son Michael R. Hall. Erica is survived by her husband, Michael K. Hall of Murfreesboro, Tn. Daughters Sheila (Jeff) Simmons of Murfreesboro, Tn and Sharla (Gary) Rollins of Farmington, NH. Donald "Don" E. Shenefiel, 88, of Warren, OH formerly of New Martinsville, WV left this world on Saturday, September 30, 2023 while at the St. Joseph Hospital in Warren, OH. Don was born September 22, 1935, in Randolph, New York son of the late Edwin and Edith (Hoxie) Shenefiel. He was a retired manager for PPG, instrumental in the establishing of the Francis Batton Memorial Scholarship, served on the board for Wetzel County Hospital and WVNCC Foundation, enjoyed hunting and fishing and member of the New Martinsville United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Jane O. (Smith) Shenefiel and brother, Kern Shenefiel. Surviving is his son, Stephen (Elizabeth) Shenefiel of Butler, PA; three daughters, Jennifer Jimenez of Warren, OH, Kellie (Rick) Amlin of Endicott, NY and Kathryne (Brian) Small of Niles, OH; three siblings, Dorothy (James) Bair of Fairbourne, OH, Robert (Carolyn) Shenefiel of Spanaway, WA and Janice (Wayne) Simms of Mannford, OK; sister-in-law, Phyllis White of Lee, NH; four grandchildren, Stephanie Jimenez, Alexander (Taylor) Jimenez, Craig Amlin and Emily Amlin; great grandson, Luken Jimenez and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
