Josephine Carlier, 95, of Chester passed, Monday, June 20, 2022, at Valley Hospice Care Center North at Trinity West Hospital. A lifelong resident of Chester, she was born December 16, 1926, in Georgetown, PA. , A daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Feola DeCapio. Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Charles Carlier, son, Gary Alfred Carlier; stepdaughter, Shirley Carlier. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Frank DeCapio, Tony DeCapio, Marie Rockhold, Sunday DeCapio, Lucy Enders, Julia Volino, Rose Volino and Mary Gordon. Josephine is survived by her stepdaughter, Dorris Carlier Whittaker; daughter in-law, Marilyn Lewis Carlier; grandchildren, George Whittaker III (Jeanean), Bruce Whittaker, Kristi Whittaker Saunig, Gary "Fred" Carlier (Amy), Andy Carlier (Erin) and Brandy Carlier; great-grandchildren, Erin, Elizabeth, Kylie, Morgan, Krysten, Brandon, Courtney and Brittany; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, Josephine retired from The Homer Laughlin China Company where she dedicated 33 years of service in the dipping house. She worked from September 6, 1956, to August 4, 1989. Josephine was a Roman Catholic by faith and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in East Liverpool. Josephine enjoyed going to Waterford track, cooking, walking, and listening to baseball on the radio. She joked about not having a middle name because she was the 9th child born in her family. Father Stephen Wassie will preside Catholic Funeral Rites at the Arner Funeral Chapel, Thursday, June 23, 2022, at 1:00PM.
