Mary Price

Mary Price

Age - 87

November 25, 2023

Riley, Indiana mourns the passing of another life-long pillar of the town. Mary Elizabeth Price, daughter of Horace (Lefty) Kruzan and Ruth, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday, November 14, 2023. A dedicated piano player and instructor, Mary filled her community with love, laughter, and music. She played in her early years at Riley Methodist Church before serving as Choir Director and organist at Farmersburg Presbyterian Church. Mary took great joy and pride in contributing to her church communities and teaching children to play--as the many who learned their first music notes at her bench can attest. Her own children and grandchildren share fond memories of holidays past gathered around her piano and singing Christmas carols. We know she will be with us this year as much as ever. Growing up in Prairieton Indiana, Mary developed a lifelong love for gardening and flowers. Visitors to her home as the decades passed could always savor beautiful blooms--especially her favorite roses. Mary delighted in hosting and showed her love for friends and family by showering them with delicious food, pies, cakes, and old Western movies. Euchre tournaments in her kitchen and late-night parties in her garage were the stuff of legend. Mary could always be counted on to make an appearance, laughing as her grandchildren showed off their dance moves and blasted the stereo far too loud. In 1952, Mary married the love of her life: Darrell Ray Price. They weathered life's many challenges together for 68 years, an enduring testament to their commitment and love for each other. Darrell and Mary raised five children: Thomas Darrell, Theresa Dawn, Tonia Denise, Tod Drew, and Timothy David. Above and beyond her many other achievements, Mary was a devoted mother whose love, wit, and support will be dearly missed. Mary is survived by an enormous, loving family: her children, 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. In passing, she joins her beloved husband, Darrell, and their daughter, Toni (Price) Myers--where all three surely laugh at the trouble of parting this world and wait for us all to be together again. Services will be held at the DeBaun Funeral Home on December 30, 2023, from 11am to 2 pm. To to the family or in memory of Mary Elizabeth (Kruzan) Price, pleaseShow more
