ADRIAN - Joseph "Joe" Edward Terlesky, age 97, of Adrian, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Lynwood Manor Healthcare Center. He was born on August 8, 1925, in Detroit, Michigan to Joseph and Helen Marie (Hendry) Terlesky. Joe married Margaret Bednar on February 6, 1948, and she preceded him in death on October 5, 1997. Joe then married Marie Germaine "Gerrie" Bednar on May 23, 2000, in Adrian; Gerrie preceded him in death on August 20, 2021. As a World War II combat vet with the US Marines, Joe was a radio man on fighter jets. Before and after his service in the Marines, Joe was employed with Allied Foods in Detroit, Michigan. He was the manager of Wrigley's grocery store in Adrian, then became a supervisor for Allied's mid-Michigan stores. Joe retired from Allied Foods in 1979. In retirement he worked for E&B Electronics, having retired completely in 1997. Joe loved a good game of golf, bowling, socializing with neighbors, and meeting up with friends at the Adrian Eagles and the American Legion. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus of Adrian, Adrian Eagles #2371 and American Legion Post 97 Adrian Michigan. Joe is survived by his children: Bob (Barbara) Terlesky of Rogers, AK; Jack (Jill) Terlesky of Adrian, Tom (Linda) Terlesky of Adrian; Joe (Barbara) Terlesky of Walker, MI; Mike (Laura) Bednar of Aurora, IL; and Rob (Lynn) Bednar of Plainfield, IL; Sue (Tom Wolf) Dennison of Greensboro, NC; Barbara (Allen) Croasdale of Maggie Valley, NC; Pat (Mike) Anderson of Sand Creek; Cathy Doan of Kalamazoo; Sue (Al Williams) of Evanston, IL; his three sisters: Marge; Bernadine and Rita; 31 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers - Ed and Jim, his sisters Genevieve and Helen, his wives Margaret and Gerrie, and his son, Jim (JT). Visitation for Joe will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023, from 4-7 p. m. with a Rosary being prayed at 7:00 p. m. at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian. The funeral liturgy will be offered on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 10:30 a. m. with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service at Holy Family Parish, St. Mary Campus with Fr. Michael Newman, OSFS, as celebrant. For individuals who are unable to attend the service in person, it can be watched live on the Catholic Community of Adrian Facebook page.
