Virginia Mae Hamrick, a beloved soul cherished by many, peacefully passed away at Wendover Hospice House Saturday, March 2, 2024. Born in Cleveland County, North Carolina, on March 31, 1931, Virginia's life was a tapestry of love, kindness, and grace. In the wake of her departure, Virginia leaves behind a legacy that will forever echo through the lives of those who knew her. Her family mourns her loss while celebrating the profound impact she had on their lives. Virginia's late first husband, AG Whisnant, and her late husband James Hamrick were pillars of strength in her life. She also shared deep bonds with her brother Ed Smith and sisters Mildred Blackwell, Lorene Self, and Margie Hayes who have also preceded her in death. Among those who will continue to honor Virginia's memory are her son Harvey Whisnant and wife Lynda of Boiling Springs, NC; her daughter Kathy Campfield of Shelby; her granddaughter Tiffany Odom and husband Terry of Simpsonville, SC; her granddaughter Kristi Sorrells and wife Christie of Greensboro, NC; her grandson Gabe Whisnant and wife Heather of Spartanburg, SC; her grandson Kyle Wright and wife Amy of Shelby as well as her seven great-grandchildren. Virginia's life will be commemorated at Sharon Church in Shelby officiated by Rev. Rusty Stroup. A visitation will take place on March 7th from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. The final act of laying Virginia to rest will occur during the burial ceremony in the church cemetery immediately following the service.To honor the memory of Virginia, pallbearers who will serve are as follows: Paul Mowery, Bobby Pyron, Steve Vess, Ronnie Blackwell, Terry Odom, and Doyle McSwain.The family has requested memorials be made to Sharon Church, 871 College Ave. Shelby, NC 28152 Her family has entrusted her care and final arrangements to Cleveland Funeral Service and Crematory, 2518 West Dixon Blvd. Shelby NC 28152, 704-487-5811. Darrin Michael O'Donoghue, age 52, of Casar, NC passed away on Thursday, February 29th, 2024 at Atrium Health - Cleveland , Shelby . Darrin was born in Gaston County, on August 29th, 1971. Darrin was the son of the late Lloyd and Jackolyn O'Donoghue. He was also preceded in death by his three aunts, Carol Morgan, Gayle Schronce and Rachel Devine as well as his uncle David Morgan. Darrin was an active member of Polkville Baptist Church. He was also a man who loved volunteering his time in Operation Christmas Child, Ruritan, and at Rodeo Polkville. Darrin was a former member of Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed watching his favorite teams, such as Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves, and the Washington Redskins. Darrin also loved watching dirt track and Nascar Racing. When Darrin wasn't busy watching on of his favorite teams compete or volunteering his time you could find him spending his time reading a good book. Left to cherish the life of this amazing man is his loving wife of 21 years, Melody; one brother, Mark O'Donoghue and his wife Courtenay; two nephews, Jackson O'Donoghue and Austin Milling; one niece, Alaina Milling; stepdad, Doyle Smith; mother & father in law, Cindy and Dale Milling; one brother in law, Kevin Milling; two dogs who he loved dearly, Spike & Petie, as well as many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and special friends whom lives he's touched along the way. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Darrin will be held Monday, March 4, 2024 at 3:00 PM in the Polkville Baptist Church with the Rev. Will Davis officiating. The family will receive friends 1hour prior to the service at the church. Internment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials me made to Rodeo Polkville, PO Box 245, Polkville, NC 28136 , or Polkville Baptist Church, PO Box 245, Polkville, NC 28136. Thomas "Tommy" Franklin Bowen, 79, of Casar, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, surrounded by family. Born in Mecklenburg County, on April 1, 1944, he was a son of the late James Marion Bowen and Junie Benfield Bowen. Tommy was retired from Carolina Freight and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Casar. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved fishing, hunting, woodworking, going to the beach, Hardee's biscuits, and spending time with his grandsons. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by an infant brother, Jimmy Bowen, two sisters, Dot Harris and Sue Strickland, an infant grandson, Dylan Dixon, and best friend, John Herman. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 58 years, Patricia M. Bowen, daughter, Rhonda Ledford (Dwayne) of Lawndale, three grandsons, Darin Dixon (Brooklyn) of Shelby, Dusty Dixon of Casar, Dawson Dixon of Lattimore, and two great-grandsons, Lane Dixon and Levi Dixon of Shelby. He is also survived by a sister, Jessie Beach (Butch) of Belmont. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Corinth Baptist Church . The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev Dustin Hamrick officiating. The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. Ted A. Riviere Jr., “Teddy”, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 29, 2024 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. Ted was 60 years old and was born in Charlotte, NC. Ted did not wish to have a funeral or memorial service but has asked his family to scatter his ashes in one of his favorite places, the golf course.Teddy loved golf, Carolina basketball, Cowboys football and spending time with his friends. He had many friends and family who have supported him and stood by him during his battle with Leukemia.Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Ted. A Riviere Sr. and Jenelle H. Barrick.
