Joseph "Joe" Francis Schauer, 85, of Rockton, IL died at 6:20 a.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2019 in Highview in the Woodlands after a brief illness. Born on February 15, 1934 in Chicago, IL, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Catherine (Vanco) Schauer, graduated from Morton High School before attending the University of Illinois. He married the former Geraldine M. McDonald in Chicago, IL on February 20, 1960. Joseph was employed as a crew scheduler by United Airlines for many years before retiring in 1992 and was a veteran of peace time serving in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church where he was a former member of the choir and served as Eucharist Minster of Highview in the Woodlands. He is survived by wife Gerry; daughter Kathy (Jay) Pinney; son David J. (Darlene) Schauer; son Tom (Tashia) Schauer; son Joe Schauer; Twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister Geraldine (Jim) Fronek and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 3, 2019 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 620 Blackhawk Blvd, South Beloit, IL with Fr. Steven M. Sabo and Fr. Randy Fronek co-officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Durand, IL. A visitation will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home- Rockton Chapel, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, IL from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019. A memorial is to be established.
