Joseph Pipala, 58, entered eternal rest on Saturday, September 30, 2023. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Memorial Gathering on Friday, November 24 from 2 - 5 pm at Walter Johnson Funeral Home. He lived in Scotch Plains, prior to moving to Clark 14 years ago. Joseph was the Owner of Colonia Dairy Maid in Colonia for over 20 years. Joseph is survived by his beloved wife Jennifer (Rawlins) Pipala; his devoted children, Joseph Pipala, Nicholas Pipala, Alexa Pipala and Zachary Pipala and his dear brothers and sisters, Andy Pipala, Johnny Pipala and his wife Maryann and their children, Hunter and Brianna, Anna Falzarano and her husband Lou and their children, Philip and Ashley and Diane Pipala. Mary Louise Hall McLeod was born on March 13, 1933 to Fanny Hargrave Hall and James Wesley Hall at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, New Jersey. Unfortunately, Mary's mother Fannie passed away when she was about 3 months old. She was raised by her paternal grandparents, Steven and Mary Lou Woods. While growing up, Mary was an active member of Heard AME Church. Mary grew up in Roselle, New Jersey where she attended elementary school and attended and graduated from Abraham Clark High School in 1951. This is where and when she started dating her future husband, Walter McLeod. After high school Mary worked for New Jersey Bell Telephone Company as an operator. On September 6, 1953 Walter and Mary married and they moved to Rahway, NJ in 1959. Her union with Walter produced 5 children, Michael, Gregory, Helene, Walter and Adrienne. Mary is predeceased by sisters, Moochie and Joanette Hall, brother, William (aka Sonny) Hall, her husband, Walter McLeod, her sons, Michael and Gregory McLeod and son-in-law, James Simmons. Mary retired from Bell Atlantic Corporation as an Assistant Manager. Mary loved to travel with trips to Alaska, Venezuela, Mexico, Canada, Bermuda, Africa (2x's), and Caribbean Islands and extensively thought the United States. She also sponsored bus rides to the theater and casinos. Mary was an active member of her community. As a member of Ebenezer AME she served as a Trustee, she is a Life Member of the National Council of Negro Women (2 term president), and Life member of the NAACP, always involved with her children's school PTA, AARP, Red Hatters, Golden Girls, Minority Task Force, Den mother. She leaves to cherish fond memories, children, Helene McLeod Shearer, Walter Steve McLeod (Patricia Boykins), Adrienne Louise Simmons and daughter in law, Lora R. McLeodGrandchildren, Omar Simmons, Jermaine Boykins (Jasmine), Walter McLeod Jr, Jamel Simmons, Enel Joseph Webley and bonus grands, Nicole Bradley (Siyan), Gary Little; great grand, Michael Benjamin Sanchez and bonus great grands, Madison, MacKenzie and Micah Bradley. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Shaun Lambert Nelson of Clark, NJ entered eternal rest on Wednesday, October 18th at the age of 52. He was born on October 1st, 1971, at Elizabeth General Hospital, Elizabeth, NJ to the Late Delores Nelson and Louis Nelson. He graduated from Jonathan Dayton High School in Springeld, NJ and he also graduated with a Welding and Carpentry certificate from Union County Vocational and Technical School in Scotch Plains, NJ. He was baptized at New Zion Baptist Church, Elizabeth, NJ in his early years. He also occasionally attended Bethlehem Baptist Church in Roselle, NJ. He really enjoyed Gospel music. His favorite Gospel Artist was Byron Cage. Shaun worked for the National Tree Company in Cranford, NJ prior to joining Amazon Fulfillment Center in Avenel, NJ. He also had his own business, S&N Home Improvement Company. Several of his customers became personal friends because of his warm and welcoming personality. Shaun was an avid fisherman and loved being on the water as much as time would allow. Shaun also enjoyed weekend getaways and entertaining. One of his favorite pass times was cooking on the grill. He loved to share what he cooked with his neighbors and friends. Shaun was known for making the best barbecue ribs and chicken in the area. Shaun is preceded by his sisters Monica F. Nelson and Dawn D. Nelson. He is survived by his daughters Angelica Nelson and Kiara Henderson, father Louis Nelson, godparents Reginald and Carol Hopson, sisters Torsha A. Fish and Felicia Nelson, brother Daryl L. In Loving Memory of Esther Altobelli BerardiEsther Altobelli Berardi, age 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 14th, surrounded by the love of her family. She was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, beloved aunt, and a culinary artist who brought joy to the hearts and taste buds of everyone fortunate enough to know her. Esther grew up in Peterstown, Elizabeth and was a graduate of Battin High School class of 1952. For several years she worked for Singer sewing and General Motors Corp. She later moved to Clark and resided there for the past 60 years with her loving family. Esther delighted in the kitchen, where she crafted dishes that became the heart of family gatherings. Her pasta fagioli was a comfort that warmed the soul, her Italian cookies were a sweet testament to her love, and the aroma of her Easter bread filled homes with warmth and anticipation. Esther's rice pudding was a cherished treat that generations will forever associate with her love and care. Beyond her cooking and baking talents, Esther was an unwavering #1 Yankees fan. Her passion for the game brought excitement to family gatherings and created lasting memories during countless baseball seasons. Her dedication to the Yankees was a tribute to her vibrant spirit and zest for life. She was also a long time Republican, most recently a proud supporter of former President Donald Trump. Esther was not only a master in the kitchen and a sports enthusiast, she was also a committed Christian whose faith served as a guiding light throughout her life. Her love for God was evident in the kindness she showed to others and the compassion that flowed through her actions. She was a long term parishioner of Oasis Christian Centre for almost 50 years. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Eliseo, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and laughter. Reunited in eternal peace, they are now together once more. Esther is also preceded in death by her dear sisters (Helen, Dolly, Lizzy and Jinny) and parents (Stella and Julius) leaving behind a tapestry of memories woven with family bonds and shared traditions. She will be dearly missed by her loving children, Michael Berardi, Lori and Ron Grossmith; grandchildren, Nicole and Brittany Glen, Ryan Grossmith and Jessica Rozewski, Melissa Berardi and Blake Stephens and Lauren Grossmith and Kevin Trotter; who were the joy of her later years, and countless nieces and nephews who felt her affectionate embrace. Esther's spirit lives on in the cherished moments and recipes that will be passed down through the generations. Her legacy is one of love, family, faith, and delicious traditions. May Esther's soul rest in eternal peace. Her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who had the privilege of calling her mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
