Joseph Patrick O'Halloran of San Tan Valley, Arizona, passed away at home on April 10, 2023 at the age of 89 years old. Joe was born on March 30,1934 to John and Catherine (nee Marren) on the southside of Chicago. He had eight brothers and sisters, Michael O'Halloran, John (Irene) O'Halloran, Catherine (Albert) Morrell, Mary Margret (Robert) Woods, Elizabeth (Dale) Johnsen, Patricia (Carl) Graves, Emmett (Doris) O'Halloran and Bernie O'Halloran. He also had numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was married to Joanne (nee McQuaid) O'Halloran for 65 years. He was a loving father to Karen (Randy) O'Halloran and Daniel (Linda) O'Halloran. Cherished grandpa to Jim (Ashley) Hulka, Christopher (Stephanie) Hulka, Laura (Dee) Hulka, Thomas, Matthew (Kristen), Nathan and Tessa O'Halloran. "Papa Joe" to Kobe, Karter Johnson, Addison, Avalon and Lincoln Hulka and Emilia and Mason Hulka. Joe attended CVS High School before joining the United States Air Force. He was stationed in South Korea from February 1952 to March 1956 as a Fire Fighter. He was honorably discharges as an Airman 2nd Class. Joe worked as a carpenter and millwright but retired in June 1996 from Certified Grocers located in Hodgkins, Illinois as a Deli Conveyor Foreman. He was a member of Local 701 Automobile Mechanics Union. Joe and Joanne moved from the southside of Chicago to Mountain Home, Arkansas for over 27 years to start a new chapter in their retirement years. Joe loved to tinker around his yard, garden and do small projects around the house. But the most special thing he loved the most was to fish with his wife and brother-in-law Dale. They fished in Lake Norfolk, Bull Shoals Lake and the White River. Joanne always out fished Joe. Joe belonged to a group called "Friends of the Park". He and other gentlemen took down old log cabins, a school and a church to put them back together in a park for everyone to come and visit. Dad was so proud of that park. Joe was a very active member for over 25 years in the American Legion Post 52 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was in the Color Guard and held many different positions. He was also a member of the Korean War Veteran's Association. Joe was so proud of his country. He could hardly stand but when the American Flag was raised, I helped him up, stood tall and proud and saluted the Flag. He always wore his Korean War Veteran's hat. Joe and Joanne moved back to Chicago for a short time. Joanne passed in January 2021 and a decision was made to move to Arizona to be with some of the grandkids and great-grandkids. He enjoyed his family so much and being with them during the holidays. He would go to his great-grandkids sports. The great-grandkids called him "Papa Joe". They made him many veteran pictures and listened to his stories. Kobe loved playing guns with him or scaring each other. I was so lucky to be with my dad and get to know him, just not as my dad, but as a person. To our loving dad, grandpa and Papa Joe "HOOAH" as the Air Force would yell out. Rest in peace and we love and miss you.
