Joseph Michael O'Connor, 85 of Oxnard, CA, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019 at home surrounded by his family. Born in West Chester, PA, on December 2, 1933, he was the son of the late Dennis Gerard and Agnes (Finegan) O'Connor. He was the husband of Betty (Allison) O'Connor. Joseph served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. He graduated from St. Agnes High School in 1951, then began working at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in January 1952, retiring in 1995. He was a Member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1333, West Chester, PA; a Grand Knight at the Council #3792, Milford, DE and most recently Council #2498, Ventura, CA. He was also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernia - Easter Rising Division, Ventura, CA and a lifetime member of the VFW West Chester Post #106. Joseph enjoyed gardening, hunting, playing cards and watching FOX News. Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Betty (Allison) O'Connor, his three children: Joseph Michael O'Connor Jr. (Sandy) and Granddaughter Sherri Noel (Chad); Colleen O'Connor (Scott Chism) and Grandsons Richard Muncy (Cheyenne), Joseph Muncy; Meegon Covey (Michael) and Grandson Joshua Covey and seven great grandchildren. Joseph is survived by a sister Regina (O'Connor) Van Veen, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass at 10:00am on Friday, April 26, 2019 at St. Agnes Church 233 W. Gay St. West Chester, PA 19380. Interment will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester.
