Obituary Joseph B. Fox, a lifelong resident of South Bend, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2023. Born on December 23, 1956, to the late Robert H. and Rosetta M. (Crist) Fox, Joseph was a beloved member of the South Bend community and will be remembered for his gentle nature and playful spirit. Joseph grew up in a bustling household with his six siblings, Robert (Debra) Fox, Elizabeth (Ray) Vanett, George (Diane) Fox, Albert (Robin) Fox, Roy (Rose) Fox, all of South Bend, and Walter Fox of Mishawaka. The bonds of love and camaraderie they shared were evident in their close-knit relationships, and Joseph's passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt. In his younger years, Joseph found joy in serving his community as an usher. This role allowed him to interact with a diverse range of people, a task he undertook with his characteristic gentleness and warmth. His dedication to service was a testament to his kind-hearted nature and left a lasting impression on those he encountered. Joseph was known for his mischievous side, often delighting in playing pranks on his friends and family. His sense of humor brought laughter and lightness to those around him, making every gathering a memorable one. He had a deep appreciation for music, often losing himself in the melodies that filled his home. He also enjoyed watching his favorite TV shows. In his youth, Joseph loved to ride his bicycle around South Bend. The freedom and joy he found in these rides were a testament to his adventurous spirit. He carried this love for exploration throughout his life, always eager to discover new places and experiences. Joseph B. Fox was a man of gentle spirit, a beacon of light in the lives of those who knew him. His playful pranks, love for music, and passion for exploration made him a joy to be around. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p. m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Saint Anne's New Catholic Cemetery in Monterey, Indiana. Laurie Kochmar Obituary Laurie E. Kochmar, 57 years old, passed away at 10:12 p. m. on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving husband. Laurie was born on May 9, 1966 in South Bend, IN. She was a school bus driver for First Student, primarily for Wilson Elementary School children. Laurie formerly worked as a bartender at Bob's Pub for 15 years, and was a manager at Speedway at Brick Road. Laurie and Mark L. Kochmar, Sr. were married on May 10, 2007 in South Bend. Along with her husband, Mark, she is survived by her four sons, Casey, Michael, Greg, and Christopher Bowser; step-children, Kayleigh Kochmar and Mark (Angee Richards) Kochmar, Jr. ; grandchildren, Maddy Kochmar, Sloane Kochmar, Seamus Lowe and Hunter Lowe; two brothers, Rod (Luann) Purucker and Jim Purucker; and brother-in-law, Paul Billings. Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Betty; sister, Roxanne Billings; and two brothers, John Purucker and Douglas Purucker. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 p. m. at the Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend. A private prayer will follow. Shelby Wright Norris Obituary Shelby J. Wright Norris, 86, residing in Niles, MI passed away on the morning of Wednesday, November 29, 2023, following a brief illness. She was born May 2, 1937, in Tishomingo County, MS, and has lived in this area most of her life. On June 11, 1955, in Plymouth, IN; as Shelby Smith, she was united in marriage to Dewey M. Wright who passed away on December 9, 1985. Then on Sept. 23, 1989, in Mishawaka, she married Charles H. Norris who preceded her in death on June 4, 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Vicky Blake of South Bend; and three sons, Donny Wright of Mishawaka, Kerry (Tammy) Wright of Niles, and Tracy (Amanda) Wright of Lafayette, IN. Also surviving are six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Louise Russell of Florence, AL, Norma Wright, and Sue Overholser, both of South Bend. Along with her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Regina Lutz, three sisters, Maunedith Heffington, Lavolyn Smith, and Peggy Gentry, and three brothers, Bimel Smith, Samuel Smith, and Noah "Sonny" Smith. Shelby retired as a Quality Control Manager with Automatic Molded Plastics in South Bend. Throughout the years, she enjoyed bowling, crocheting, and going to the casino. Family and friends may visit from 4:00 - 7:00 p. m. Monday, December 4, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan St. , South Bend. Services celebrating her life will be at 11:00 A. M. Tuesday, Dec. 5, at the funeral home with Rev. Garey Beck officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery.
