Michael Francis Sprecco 1953 - 2024 Mike Sprecco of Ventura, California, passed away on February 21st, 2024. He was 70 years old. Mike was born in Lakeside Ca. on March 10, 1953, to Ralph and Gretchen Sprecco (deceased). He attended high school at El Capitan High School in Lakeside California and graduated in 1971. After High School Mike joined the Navy and trained with the Naval Construction Battalions, better known as the “Seabees”. He later entered the International Union of Operating Engineers, most recently operating truck and off-shore cranes. Michael is survived by his wife Beverly Booth of Ventura; Daughter Jasmine Hokulani Turley and grandchildren Maile (great-grand daughter Rhea Ann Hokulani Peters), LeiLei, and Hiva; Grandson Mathew Taylor (Erika) and great-grandchildren Chaylee, Chayden and Mason. Michael is the second of 14 siblings. Living siblings include Francine Sprecco, Patrick Sprecco (Alma), Paul Sprecco (Angelica), Mari Sprecco, Joe Sprecco (Christy), Teri Sprecco (Bill), Cathy Sprecco, Susie Sprecco, Chris Sprecco (Angie), Gerry Sprecco (Jennifer), Dominic Sprecco (Roxanne) and Toni Cashman (Tim). He is beloved and remembered with fondness by his many nieces and nephews. Michael is predeceased by his sister Angelina Rose Sprecco, and his step-daughter Lisa Booth. Michael is remembered for his love of family and experiencing life to its fullest. He lived for his wife, children and grandchildren. Beverly recalls the first time she and Michael met. She was sitting in a lounge, there was one open seat at the bar and Michael asked if he could sit. Although she laughingly recalled not being immediately impressed, she agreed to a later date. They went to a very nice steakhouse and he cautioned her then and there, to not get used to this. True to his word, their second date was at Taco Bell. She loved his sense of humor, honesty and his caring attitude. The rest, is their story together. Beverly said there are no words to describe their closeness, and that he had to be the “best husband ever.” His daughter, Jasmine, remembers him letting her be wild and free and teaching her to fish, shoot a gun, drive a stick shift, catch snakes, play rough, and get dirty. He was a mentor to many with his larger-than-life example of a hard, gentle, strong, and loving man. While he often cautioned (with a wink) against much of what he was doing, his adventures inspired many others to travel and celebrate each day. He was an entertaining storyteller and musician with a generous heart and mischievous spirit. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed his frequent hunting and fishing trips with his father and brothers. He retired after decades with the International Union of Operating Engineers, most recently operating truck and off-shore cranes. The Family wishes to thank all those who have reached out in support during this difficult time. Your love, prayers and concern continue to be a blessing. Family and friends are invited to a viewing and gathering which will take place on Saturday evening March 23, 2024 from 4 to 7 pm at the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura. Directions to Funeral Home

For about 33 years, Barbara and Sue judged rose shows and spoke at the club meetings - especially in Southern California. It was a wonderful life. Barbara and Sue grew about 350 roses of all kinds. They needed to see how they grow here in Ventura. Barbara's husband Jack, died about 30 years ago. She is survived by her family; Sue Diller, Dog Mindy, and Cat Boo. The family moved several times and settled in Syracuse, New York. Ann met her husband, Jon, at a high school sorority dance in 1955, when Jon was home on Christmas leave from the US Naval Academy, where he was in his first year. With Ann at Syracuse University and Jon at the Naval Academy, they had limited opportunities to be together and continued their relationship by mail, eventually writing daily letters to one another. When Ann graduated, they were married in Syracuse, New York, on June 11, 1960. The Navy sent Jon to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, to study civil engineering and Ann taught second grade. Their first child, a daughter, Kimberly, was born in June 1961. As a Navy wife, Ann went through frequent moves as Jon was transferred. Ann was active in the Navy Wives Clubs in many locations and served as president of the Navy Wives in Port Hueneme. When Jon retired from the Navy after 31 years, he and Ann moved to DeSoto, Texas, then San Francisco, CA, followed by Menlo Park, CA. In San Francisco, Ann served as co-chair of the Social Justice Committee at Old St. Mary’s Catholic Church and volunteered with the St. Anthony Foundation, serving meals for the homeless and needy. In 2001, they moved to Ventura, CA, their 27th home together, for retirement. Ann was active in Young Ladies Institute #160, a Catholic Women’s organization, serving as President for two years and a Trustee for many years. In retirement, she and Jon were avid travelers, visiting the remaining wild places in the world: the Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia Island, the Galapagos Islands, the Upper Amazon River, Machu Pichu, Norway, Svalbard, Iceland, the countries on the Baltic Sea, Australia, the islands in the Coral Sea, New Zealand, Vietnam, Cambodia, India, and China. Terrance (Terry) Wonders

Oct 16, 1935 - Feb 13, 2024

location-icon

Ventura County, CA

Terrance (Terry) Wonders was born in Cleveland Ohio on October 16,1935. He lived in Cleveland until his family moved to Eagle Rock California when Terry was seven years old and he grew up there. In 1954, he joined the California Air National Guard and served as a load master. He served on active duty and as a reserve for over 10 years. A self described ski bum in those days, he would often sign up for missions and deployments strategically to fund his future ski trips. He met his wife Sheila on a ski trip in Sun Valley Idaho in 1960 and they were married in 1963. That same year he was hired by the Los Angeles Police Department. He worked for several elite units within the department over the course of his career and promoted to the rank of sergeant before retiring after nearly 30 years of service. He was a skilled amateur gunsmith and years ago he could often be found in his garage building, repairing or refinishing precision hunting rifles for himself or his friends and coworkers. He became an avid cyclist after his retirement and could be seen riding his bicycle all over Ventura County. When he wasn’t riding, he was usually working on his bike. The craftsmanship he had once used as an amateur gunsmith, he then applied to becoming a top notch bicycle mechanic, happily working on anyone’s bike who needed it. He is survived by his wife of over sixty years, Sheila. His sons Todd (Michelle), Tim (Christina) and Sean (Linda). His grandchildren Ryan, Kevin, Sean, Lauren, Kyle, Justin and Keira, and his brother Dennis. He was preceded in death by his parents Newton and Margaret, and his sister Kathleen.
