Joseph Barda Obituary

Joseph Otto Barda, 81 died May 1st, 2023. He was born in Chicago March 12, 1942 to Otto and Mary Barda. He was preceded in death by brother James Barda and sister Diane Cribari (Mike). Joe is survived by his wife Chellie of 53 years, son Seth (Sandy Bass), and sister Marlene Weber. He earned a bachelor's degree in Sociology at Colorado State University, a master's degree in Corrections at Chicago State University, and a Bachelor of International Management at Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management in Arizona. In 1965 he became a Peace Corps volunteer in India and later served in the US Army. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a member of Mensa. After a successful career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Joe volunteered to help Carroll County Arkansas build a jail. Because of his expertise with prisons, he was made Project Manager. He loved to travel, read, solve problems, and help others. Joe was a devoted husband and father. He was described as a 'big man with a big heart'.
