"Marion Elinore (Dugan) Joscelyne, of Matawan, NJ, passed away peacefully at Spring Hills of Matawan with family by her side on October 20, 2023 at the age of 93. Born on July 1, 1930 in Windsor, Canada to Edwin and Helen (Harrison) Dugan, Marion moved with her parents and four siblings to Peterborough, Ontario, where she attended King Edward Public School and Peterborough Collegiate Vocational School. She pitched for the softball team and was an excellent figure skater. During her high school years, summers were spent waitressing at her aunt's lodge in Haliburton, Ontario, where she enjoyed canoeing and going to dances at Lake Kashagawigamog. Marion studied at Peterborough Civic Hospital, receiving her BSN in 1952 to start her career as a registered nurse. She immigrated to the United States and met her husband, Charles, while working at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. They were married in 1954 and a few years later settled in Bucks County, PA to raise their three children. Marion loved her home with family Christmases, vacations in Stone Harbor, NJ, Sullivan County, PA, and visiting her family in Michigan and Canada. She enjoyed teaching her children to ice skate, gardening, sewing and baking her specialties - delicious apple betties and butter tarts. Marion continued to practice nursing in hospitals, at Vicks/Richardson-Merrell Inc. , with private duty cases in Bryn Athyn, PA, and found her profession very rewarding. She stayed connected with her Class of 1952, meeting for reunions in Peterborough. After her children were grown and her being widowed in 1991, she moved to Matawan in 1995. She completed courses to keep her nursing license current. Prior to retiring, she enjoyed working at De La Salle Hall in Lincroft, NJ, caring for the Christian Brothers. In 2004, Marion remarried Herbert Wolke and spent some good years visiting both their families, taking trips to Ocean Grove, NJ, Lancaster PA, and Gettysburg PA. She was a parishioner of St. Clement Roman Catholic Church in Matawan, and supported many charities including Veterans of Foreign Wars and Guiding Eyes for the Blind. In retirement, she enjoyed seeing friends, reading novels and poetry, and birdwatching, her favorite being the cardinal. She loved collecting porcelain dolls, watching old-time movies with White Christmas, The Waltons, and regional sports, such as the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Mets, and girls' college basketball. The most joy brought in Marion's life, however, was her dearly loved children and grandchildren. She would organize fun games, attend school concerts and sporting events, and was always very proud of them. She touched the lives of those she knew with her graciousness and care, will always be remembered for her cheerfulness and smile, and her fond memories will remain forever. Marion is predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles Joscelyne, second husband, Herbert Wolke, brothers Jack Dugan, Arnold Dugan, and sister, Dale (Dugan) Haverstock. She is survived by her brother Paul (Gail), son Charles (Janet), daughter Mary Helen (Gene), daughter Roseanne (Larry), granddaughter Clare (Conor), grandsons Andrew (Stephanie), Cameron, Kyle, and granddaughter Sarah. Also survived by dearly loved sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and treasured cousins and friends. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, November 24, 2023, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Bedle Funeral Home, 212 Main Street, Matawan, where a service will be held at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marion's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. "Show more
