Jonathan Devlin Sizemore of Maysel passed away on September 9, 2023 due to injuries sustained in a car accident. He was 45. Jonathan was born in Charleston, WV on January 23, 1978. A 1996 graduate of Clay County High School, Jonathan was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time in the woods. He was a natural athlete, a handyman, a gifted operator of a chainsaw, and possessed an incredible work ethic and sense of humor. Jonathan loved being a father. Jonathan is preceded in death by his grandparents, RT and Laura Jane Sizemore of Clay and Darrell Arda Samples, Sr. of Procious. Jonathan is survived by his two greatest loves, his sons: Dalton (Abby) and Keagen, his parents Dan (Robin) and Melinda Samples, grandmother, Phyllis Samples, brother Chad (Jessica), sister Tiffany Litton (Ike), and his partner Angela Brooke Cobb along with her children Andrew and Allie Cobb. Jonathan was loved by all for his kind and generous spirit. In a final act of selflessness, he chose to be an organ donor, offering the gift of life to others in their time of need. Even in his passing, he continues to make a difference and provide hope to those awaiting life-saving transplants. The family will be holding a private service at a later date. Steve Jarrett of Charleston, West Virginia passed away November 18, 2023 at the age of 74. Steve is survived by wife, Brenda Jarrett and son, Stephen Kent Jarrett, Jr. Steve is the son of Wilbur and Gay Jarrett of Pinch, WV. Steve grew up in Pinch, WV and graduated from Herbert High School. Steve worked for the State of WV in Charleston as a courier until his retirement. Steve was well known for attending Charleston area hospitals on many Saturday mornings for years as "Happy The Clown", entertaining sick children with jokes and making balloon animals for them. Steve and Brenda attended Maranatha Fellowship Church in St. Albans, WV. Steve had the most positive outlook on life considering his entire life consisted of many hospital stays, including two years at the Shriners Hospital in Philadelphia as a child. Any time he was asked "How are you doing" his response was always "I'm doing great". Steve never had anything negative to say about anyone. There will not be any funeral services, as Steve had requested that his body be donated to Marshall University for science. Steve had neurofibromatosis, a semi-rare disease that affects nerve endings and causes many health issues. Steve is also survived by his Grandchildren, Madison, Matthew and Micheala Jarrett; brothers, Raymond Jarrett and Grover (GC) Jarrett. Steve was predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Eddie Jarrett and his sisters, Pauline Bays and Gail Alderman. The family is thankful to know that Steve is at peace now and free of all that has plagued him his entire life. Larry A. Oliver, 70, of Boomer, West Virginia died November 16, 2023, at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston, West Virginia surrounded by his wife and children. He retired from Elkem Metals after thirty years in the Electrode Assembly Department. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Louise Oliver, Brothers James Oliver and Louie Oliver, and sister Mary Jane Pendry. He is survived by his wife Debbie Nutter, Son William Oliver (Jessica), Daughter Stephanie Bess (Randall), Four grandchildren, Andrea Bess, Aubriana Bess, Alaya Bess, and Henry Oliver. He is also survived by his seven sisters, Sara Morris, Connie Kearns, Janice Bowen, Louise (Roger) Stiltner, Virginia (Jack) Nuckols, Gina (Doug) Hauser, and Libby (Tom) Bass. He is also survived by Brother-in-law Bob Pendry, sisters-in-law's Linda (Jim) Rose, and Susie (John) Bratt, and several nieces and nephews. Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing, WVU sports, and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and the Boomer Community. Service will be held at 1 PM at O'Dell Funeral Home in Montgomery on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, with Pastor Peggy Vaught officiating. Burial will follow at Montgomery Memorial Park in London, WV. 74, of South Charleston, West Virginia, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023. She was born to the late Edward and Irene Anderson in Huntington, WV. Hazel was raised in the country but migrated to the city when she began to expand her family. She split her time between Ohio and West Virginia. Hazel made sure she spread love and encouragement to all her children. She was a proud mother and a devoted grandmother that loved getting together for family gatherings. In Hazel's spare time she enjoyed looking her best, bird watching and watching her favorite crime shows, while eating a bowl of her favorite ice cream. Hazel also loved gardening, cooking, and reading the bible. Besides being a mother, she had a big heart for fur babies. There wasn't a room she walked into that did not light up and her smile was infectious. To know Hazel was to love her. Hazel was preceded in death by her sisters, Corretta Anderson, and Elizabeth Lewis. Kathleen "Katie" Elizabeth Chatman, age 32, of South Charleston, West Virginia, passed away November 4, 2023. She was born October 6, 1991, at Catawba Memorial Hospital, in Hickory, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Jerry Matthew "Matt" Chatman, Jr. , and Barbara Ann Caldwell Reinhardt Chatman Mullins, of Charleston, W. V. , along with her step father James "Dave" David Mullins, of Charleston, W. V. , who helped raise Katie and was loved so dearly by Kathleen, who thought of him as her real father, and he thinks of her as his real daughter. Kathleen was loved by many. She had such a bubbly and happy personality. She loved dearly, and would do anything she could, to help and be there for her family and friends. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather Jerry Matthew Chatman, Sr. , her maternal grandfather Harvey Leroy Caldwell, her maternal grandmother Gertrude Elizabeth Lookadoo Caldwell Canipe, her maternal step grandfather Grady Lee Canipe, and her step grandmother Alice Lucille Mullins Robinette, as well as some extended family. In addition to her mother and step father, she is survived by her paternal grandmother Virginia Kathleen "Kitty" McGillen Chatman of Granite Falls, N. C. , 9 siblings, Jerry Matthew "Matt" Chatman, III of Morganton, N. C. , Jediadiah Mitchell (Amanda) Chatman of Newton, N. C. , Charity Hope Mullins (Arnold) Hancock of Charleston, W. V. , Chasity Nichole Reinhardt (Rick) Bumgarner of Claremont, N. C. , Jennifer Michelle Reinhardt Lowery (Race) Gee of Boiling Springs, S. C. , Jamie Melissa Chatman Abernathy of South Charleston, W. V. , Jonathan Michael Chatman of South Charleston, W. V. , Laura Ann Mullins (Cody) Rowlands, and James David Mullins, Jr. of Charleston, W. V. She is also survived by the following nieces and nephews, Megan Chatman, Cristian Martinez, Andrew "Drew" Richard Bumgarner, Thomas "TJ" Jermaine Abernathy, Brooke Ilene Lowery, and Destiny Faith Abernathy, and many more extended family. A private gathering for a celebration of life was performed by her childhood youth pastor, Curtis Harris, on November 9, 2023 at Ridenour Lake in Nitro, West Virginia, where Katie loved to go fish off the dock. Some of her ashes were spread over a bed of roses, in a little boat and sent off into the lake, to the song, "If I Die Young" by The Band Perry, which was her wish.
