STOW - Jon William Sues, 83, died October 1, 2023. Born in Akron, he was a graduate of Buchtel High School, served proudly in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, and had retired as owner of Insured Financial Plans. Jon was a member of Charles Faust American Legion Post 281, the NRA, and the Marine Corps Association. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Akron, where he had served as a past deacon and elder. As a longtime resident of Stow, Jon was very active in community and professional organizations. His clubs, committees, and recognitions include Stow-Munroe Falls Chamber of Commerce (past president), 1991 Stow Business Person of the Year, Rotary Club of Stow-Munroe Falls (past president), and Paul Harris Fellow recipient, Stow FOPA, Stow Community Improvement Council Board of Trustees, Stow Independence Day Committee, Stow Schools Foundation, Stow Charter Review Board, and was the founder and organizer of the Stow Rib Burn Off. Jon was also a member of Akron, Ohio, and National Life Underwriters Associations, receiving the National Quality Award. Jon excelled as a swimmer, receiving many local, regional, and national awards, and was a member of the Ohio Masters Swim Club and the Cleveland Swim Club. He is survived by his wife, Gretchen; daughters, Shannon Sues Welsh and Shere Sues; granddaughters, Katheryn Welsh and Sarah Squires; three great-grandchildren, and he will always be "Papa" to Emma Nicole Stegmeier, Raina Ports, Hannah Bell Ports, Hayden Alana Ports, Owen James Stegmeier, Xavier Cole Stegmeier, Hadley Grace McDivitt, Dax Raymond Stegmeier, Connor Stark, Liam Ansell, and Eva McDivitt. As per Jon's wishes, there will be no services.

MACEDONIA - Rose Ann Robertson, a retired journalist and academic, died November 23, 2023, from complications of kidney cancer. She was 72. Robertson was born May 22, 1951, in Fort Knox, Kentucky. An Air Force brat, she lived in Germany, Ohio, Texas, and Illinois. She was a 1969 graduate of Rantoul Township High School and received a BA in English from Eastern Illinois University in 1972. In 1975, she earned an MS in journalism from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She worked as a reporter at the Charleston Times-Courier and the Mattoon, IL Gazette. She was named state editor at the Champaign Urbana News-Gazette, where she worked to strengthen regional coverage. In 1979, she joined the Milwaukee Journal as a copy editor for the local and op-ed sections. Robertson joined the Associated Press in Chicago in 1983, later working as a national editor in New York, news editor in Nebraska, and national editor in Washington DC. She began teaching as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Illinois, and later, news writing at Marquette University, Creighton University, and the University of Maryland. In 1993, she joined American University, where she taught news writing, editing, and media studies courses. As an administrator, she helped develop an innovative online, interactive journalism program that allowed students to work on master's degrees in a weekend format. Robertson later served as Assistant Dean in charge of academic affairs and was promoted to Associate Dean. She retired at the end of the 2017 semester as Senior Associate Dean for academic affairs. In retirement, Robertson moved to Macedonia, Ohio, where she spent much of her free time helping transport and rescue abandoned dogs. One of her favorite activities was giving dogs a bath. She also worked as a copy editor for the investigative reporting workshop. She is survived by her sister, Geoff Robertson. She was also blessed in her life to be part of the amazing Gebler family and leaves behind myriad friends. There will be no services at this time, but a celebration of life will be held at a future date. More information to come. Edgar Earl Stone, Jr. , age 90, of Stow, OH, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023 at his home. Edgar was the first born of four children on November 26, 1933 in Terre Haute, IN to the late Edgar and Virginia (Wilson) Stone Sr. while they were traveling from their home in Stow, OH. While Ed attended Stow schools he played baseball, football, and hockey, and was a member of the National Honor Society. After high school graduation, he worked for the Erie Railroad (Kent Yards) to pay his tuition and received a degree in chemistry from Kent State University. After graduating from KSU, Ed was drafted in the US Army, where he worked as a Chemical Specialist, received awards as a Sharpshooter and Marksman and was promoted to SP4. He was stationed in Dugway, Utah where he met and married Carolyn Parmley and started their family. They returned to Ohio in 1965 where Edgar went on to work as a chemist in the rubber and paint industry in Akron, Mansfield, and Alliance, OH. Ed and Carolyn went their separate ways but remained amicable throughout the rest of their lives. Ed was a good Dad, a better Papa, and a great Great Papa! In his free time Ed enjoyed vegetable gardening, hunting, bon fires, playing chess, and listening to a diverse mix of music including the Kingston Trio, performance artist Laurie Anderson, and local favorites 15-60-75 Numbers Band. He is survived by his children, Jeff Stone, MaryJayne Stone; granddaughters, Aurelia Stone, Raegan (Joe Dunford) Williamson, and Caitlin Williamson; great-grandchildren, Ollie, Delilah, Niklas, Joshua, Jackson; sister, Lucille (Joe Caracciolo), brother Bill Stone (Sally). He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Annabelle Irene. STOW - Tamara S. Volpe (Barth), born September 29, 1965, to the late Lois Sholl and Thomas Barth, died November 21, 2023. Tammy lived alongside her loving husband of 33 years, Paul M. Volpe and two sons, Anthony and Matthew. She is also survived by her sister, Cathy (Jim) Althouse; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mark and Patricia Volpe and David and Paula Volpe; mother-in-law, Marilyn J. Volpe, and seven nieces and nephews. Tammy was also preceded in heaven by her father-in-law, John V. Volpe and sister-in-law, Karen Volpe. Tammy was a graduate of GlenOak High School in North Canton, and worked for Society/Key Bank. Shortly after getting married, she joined the family business, Auto Dealer Designs, Inc. She enjoyed scrapbooking, iPad games, and donated much of her time and efforts at Holy Family School and Walsh Jesuit High School, where she shared in lifelong friendships with those who aided in the comfort of her arrival to her Lord's Kingdom. MUNROE FALLS - Mary Grace Timms, age 86, passed away November 11, 2023. She was born in Akron, Ohio, on July 17, 1937. Grace worked at the Summit County Department of Human Services for many years until retirement. She was a member of the Broadman Baptist Church of Cuyahoga Falls. She was an avid bowler, loved to golf and just hang out with her family. She had been a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Grace and her husband had gone on many trips with their Honda Gold Wing, with her dog riding in the sidecar, pulling their little camper behind them. She is survived by her beloved husband, Marvin, whom she was married to for 41 years. She is also survived by her sister, Beverly; daughter, Kelley Clarke-Ross; sons, Jerry (Amanda) Smith, Jeffery (Heather) Timms, and Micheal (Christina) Timms; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jacob) Fisher, Andrea (Jonathan) Upchurch, Jacob and Jeremey Smith, Sydney, Riley Avery, and Caleb Timms, and Christina, James, and Rachel Timms, as well as many great-grandchildren. Grace was an avid reader and adventure seeker. Always ready for a laugh, she was a social butterfly and never met a stranger, ready to lend a hand to those who needed it. Grace loved all of us with compassion and believed that we could do no wrong. The name "Grace" means blessing, and she was such a blessing to all of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
