"Jon-Michael "Mike" Day, 65, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023 at his home. He was born March 19, 1958 in Santa Ana, CA to the late Margarie Ann (Greer) and William Ellis Day. Mike was a graduate of Central High School in 1976. He was a retired construction worker. Mike was an avid music fan and former disc jockey. He was known for his sense of humor and wit. Mike is survived by his daughter, Brandy (Joe) Day; grandchildren, Mackenzie Day, Leila Day, Kaidyn Day and Olivia Day; sisters, Karen Karnes, Danielle Day and Sarina Will; brothers, Bill (Tran) Day and Jason (Debbie) Day; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his parents. There will be a Celebration of Life Sunday, October 15, 2023 from 12:00 p. m. to 1:00 p. m. at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. James "Jim" Oliver Houghton, Sr. , 88, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at The Wyndmoor. Jim was born in Elberfeld, Indiana on January 24, 1935 to the late Oliver and Martine (Basham) Houghton. Jim worked for many years as a coast to coast truck and bus driver. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Jim loved to travel and looked forward to the yearly family trip to Louisiana. Above all else, Jim loved his family and will be missed by many. Jim is survived by his daughter, Tina Houghton-Francis; sons, Delbert Houghton (Laurell), Donald Houghton, Ron Houghton (Jeanna), and Eric Dockery (Tawani); sister, Doris; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Linda Darlene (Crow) Houghton; daughter, Deborah K. Gardner; sons, James Houghton, Jr. , Thomas Dockery, and Dennis Houghton; his parents; sisters, Della, Juanita, Lois, Donna, Barbara, and Louise; brothers, Loran and Charles; and dear friends, William "Dickie" Temme and Vic Ross. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave. , Evansville, IN 47711. Eric David Ginger, age 39, of Evansville, IN, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at home. Eric was born August 15, 1984, in Evansville, IN, to William "Bill" Ginger and Barbara (Sampson) Lohman. He graduated from Bosse High School in 2003 and from Ivy Tech for Mechanics. Eric loved everything cars, including the demolition derbies. He enjoyed listening to music and attending concerts with his sister, especially the group, Haystak. Eric's true love was his daughters, whom he loved dearly. Eric is survived by his mother, Barbara Lohman; daughters, Stephanie Ginger and Gabrielle Favor-Ginger; sister, Carol Smith; nieces, Summer Galloway and Jasmine Pope; aunt, Patricia Winstead; uncles, David Winstead, John Winstead and Paul "Bo" Winstead; and many cousins. Eric is preceded in death by his father, Bill Ginger; aunts, Rhonda Ginger-June and Donna Flutey; and uncle, Mark Ginger. Paul E. Phillips, 80, of Evansville, IN, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents, Essel and Cordia (ne. Scott) Phillips, wife Fette (ne. Boudreaux) Phillips, Siblings, James Phillips, Cordia (Phillips) McGee, David Phillips, Delores (Phillips) Proudfoot, and his twin Pauline Phillips. He is survived by his sister Katherine (Phillips) Ballow, his children, David Phillips, Amy (Phillips) Harker, Paul Phillips (Mary Ann), Shawn Phillips, Paula Phillips, and stepdaughters, Stephanie Hebert, Kelsea and Keendra Yancey. Most endearing nephew James (Andy) Phillips and many other nieces and nephews, grandchildren, Shannon Phillips, Hannah Harker, Gina (Phillips) Genzkow, Joanna Phillips, and Nathaniel Phillips, and great grandchildren, Lilly and Leo Amavisca, Weston and Gracie Genzkow. Paul Phillips, after serving in the U. S. Navy, enjoyed two successful careers. As a young man, he worked as a tradesman as a pipefitter. He would proudly point out barges on the Mississippi River for which he had welded the hull. His second career, his true calling, was in the insurance business. Paul's dynamic, positive personality was a perfect fit until an early retirement due to health issues. Paul loved life and shared his passions with friends and family. He was an accomplished outdoorsman. He truly enjoyed his time in nature, hunting, camping, and fishing. Those of us who shared that time with him appreciated his joy. In those moments, in the wilderness, he would take the time to ponder God's glory and share it with his companion. Paul surrounded himself with friends for cards games and pool and entertained with countless lively stories. Always a man of faith, Paul was baptized in the Catholic Church. He will be missed by many. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington, KY with Bro. Rose Marie (Schenetzke) Castrale, 91, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Encompass Health Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital, 19 days shy of her 92 birthday. Rose was born in Evansville, Indiana on December 23, 1931 the only child of Henry and Bertha (Durchholz) Schenetzke. She graduated from Memorial High School in 1949. Rose worked at the Evansville Courier and Press, Indiana Bell, Manpower and retired from PAR in 2000. She married the love of her life, Steve, on August 18, 1951 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Rose was an active member of St. Theresa Catholic Church until its closing and prayed the Rosary everyday. She enjoyed many hobbies including: sewing, embroidering baby blankets, reading books, cleaning and traveling to Italy. You could often find Rose and Steve attending Saturday night dances and enjoying the outdoors walking or riding their bikes. Rose adored her family and cherished the times with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rose is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Steve Joe Castrale of Evansville, IN; her children, Dave Castrale (Debby) of Evansville, IN, John Castrale (Andrea) of Mitchell, IN, Susan Heathcott of Evansville, IN, Mary Patterson of Evansville, IN and Jane Castrale of Evansville, IN and Joe Castrale (Pam) of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Nicole Boyes, Elizabeth Johnson, Joey and Brian Heathcott, Jessica Barnard, Abby and Joshua Patterson, Amanda Blackburn, Taylor Uhde, Laura Grochowina and Paul Castrale; great grandchildren, Hazel, Lucas, Gunner, Grace, Annie, Amelia, Charlotte, Katelyn, Kenlee, Joanna, Stella, Henry, Graham, Claire, Mia and Max and two on the way this coming Spring; brother-in-law, Remo Castrale of O'Fallon, IL; nephew and niece, Mike Castrale and Sara Beth LePere.
