Jon Halfton Burgh, age 77, passed away unexpectedly on August 29, 2023, at his home in Suquamish, Wa. Jon is survived by his wife Caroline, his brother Ron Burgh, sister Alice Robertson, his children Eric Burgh and his wife Stephanie, daughter Kristin Gonzalez, and his 6 grandchildren Alexander Gonzalez, Samantha Burgh, Emalee Burgh, Elijah Gonzalez, William Burgh and Gabriel Gonzalez whom he dearly loved. He is also survived by his niece Sarah Binner, Irene Robertson, and nephew Ian Robertson, great niece Kyrin her husband Nadeem, her children Jaxon, Amalya and Zane. Jon was preceded in death by his father Halfton Burgh, Mother Florence Burgh and Brother in law Jon Robertson. Jon was Born September 28, 1945 in Seattle Wa. He graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1963 and he had just attended his 60th class reunion. Jon went into the Marines on March 3, 1964 and served until March 1, 1968 and was in the Vietnam War. He then spent 2 yrs in the Reserves from 3/1/68 to 2/13/70. He received 6 medals while serving his country. Jon was an Abled Bodied Seaman for Washington State Ferries and retired after 34 years. Jon was a man of many passions and loves, not the least of which was his wife, children and family. He was fiercely loyal and protective, never wanting the world and its evil to tamper and hurt those he loved most dearly. He was a man who loved his country and all that it stood for. He fought valiantly and with a great sense of pride to protect that which he loved and believed in. He would challenge anyone that didnt love this country and all that it stood for in times gone by. Jon could plan an trip and make it an adventure. He would make sure that it was full of excitement and beauty. Taking pictures to capture every memory and moment so that he and others could look back and relive those exciting moments. He loved the outdoors so much, the beauty of God's creation would draw him out to walk and enjoy what he found along the way. He also loved to go fishing. Jon could cook. He often would concoct amazing dishes and ask everyone to try it. It was delicious and fun to watch him put together his culinary surprises. Yes, there were times when only he would eat it, but it was always fun. Jon loved life. He fought for every breath and every moment he could have with us on this earth. He was not going to let anything come between his family and living every moment to the fullest with them. Lastly, but most importantly, Jon loved his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He was passionate about his love for Him and the truth of God's word. We will see him again one day in the beauty of God's kingdom.
