Johnny Johnson McFarling Johnny Johnson McFarling, 83, of Mebane, passed away on Friday 4/21/2023 at UNC Hospitals in Hillsborough. A native of Orange County, he was the husband of the late Charlene Clark McFarling and the son of Oscar L. McFarling and Sadie Jane Johnson McFarling, both deceased. Johnny was a former employee with OWASA in Orange County and later retired from the Maintenance Depart with the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He was an avid race fan and supported Dale Earnhardt in NASCAR and raced go karts in his younger days. He immensely enjoyed his mornings spent with his buddies in "The Breakfast Club". He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Gore and Amy McFarling; step-daughters, Karen A. Snipes and Kelley S. Lauer; his step-son, Tommy Snipes and his wife Karen; his sister, Alice Shambley; along with 4 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Tew and a brother, Clarence "Peanut" McFarling. A graveside service to celebrate Johnny's life will be held at 1:00 p. m. on Tuesday 4/25/2023 in the cemetery of Salem Community Church. Rev. Don Pegg will officiate. The family wishes to thank the many friends, neighbors and caregivers that provided care to Johnny during his time of need.
