"Services for JOHN FRANKLIN WILEY, 93, will be held at 11 a. m. , Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Salem Baptist Church. Dr. Doug Thompson will officiate. Interment is in Salem Cemetery following the service. Mr. Wiley passed away on April 21, 2023 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born April 7, 1930 in Irwin County, GA, he was the son of the late John Franklin and Jessie Meadows Wiley. He was married on June 11, 1950 to Mozelle Hampton Wiley who preceded him in death. On February 4, 2017, he married Mary Ann Chavaux Wiley who survives. Mr. Wiley became a resident of Thomas County at the age of 11 and farmed his entire life. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, spending time with friends and family. He was blessed with the gift of gab and never met a stranger. He loved gospel and bluegrass music often playing along on his harmonica. Mr. Wiley loved the Lord and rarely missed a Sunday service. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. In addition to his wife, survivors include children Dale Wiley Morrow (D. R. ) of St. Louis, MO; Hank Wiley of Ennis, Texas; Beverly Wiley Allen (Bill) of Bainbridge; and Annette Wiley James (Scott) of Thomasville; grandchildren Jessica Morrow Ruddy (Fred) of Shelbyville, KY; Brandi Allen of Mexico Beach, FL; Bill Allen of Tallahassee, FL; Anna James and Julia James of Thomasville, GA; great-grandchildren, Payton Ruddy of Columbia, MO, Stephen Ruddy and Lillie Ruddy of Shelbyville, KY; Blaze Allen of Bainbridge, GA; Shelbe Bivins and Rosie Bivins of Leesburg, GA, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was also preceded in death by sisters Gussie Leaphart, Evelyn Davis, and Louise Vick. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p. m. , Tuesday, April 25 at the funeral home.
