John Richard Tolliver, 62, 0f Glenville, WV, passed away on September 6, 2023, at Glenville Center. He was born April 19, 1961, at Havre de Grace, MD, a son of the late Daniel Kin and Edith Mae Yearian Tolliver. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers Daniel A. Tolliver and Marvin Tolliver. He is survived by siblings Robert Tolliver of Beckley, WV; Kenneth Tolliver of Reedsville, Ohio; Loretta McCormick of Reedy, WV; Arlene Tolliver of Sutton, WV; Melvin Tolliver of Spencer, WV; Delbert Tolliver of Parkersburg, WV; Rosetta Cottrell of Stumptown, WV; and Claude Tolliver of Spencer, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mildred Lucille "Sing" Ward, 98, of Grantsville, WV, died peacefully on November 22, 2023, at Elizabeth Care Center where she had resided for the past 15 months. She was a daughter of the late Raymond and Edith Wine Singleton, born on January 8, 1925, at Dutch, Braxton County, WV. Mildred had worked at many jobs during her long life, including a dry cleaners and a fairground in Glenville, WV, during her teenage years. Then at General Motors in Cleveland, Ohio, a shirt factory, Calhoun General Hospital, and in her later years, as a grandma at Pleasant Hill Elementary School, Calhoun County, WV, retiring at the age of 92 years old. She was a longtime quilt maker and made many by hand to give to family members. Surviving "Sing" are a sister Carldetta Webber of Ohio, two brothers Van (Francis) Singleton of Ohio and Amos (Wanda) Singleton of Braxton County, WV, a step-daughter-in-law Joanne Ward of Georgia, several step-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends including a special friend Edna York Robinson. In recent years she received compassionate care from Rhonda Bumgarner and Geraldine Hupp. In addition to her parents, Mildred is preceded in death by her husband John E. Ward, brother Victor (Lora) Singleton, sisters Lula Jean (Arley) Ward, Mary, Betty, and Rebecca dying in early childhood, two step-sons Olen (Helen) Ward and Oren Ray Ward, brother-in-law Ed Webber, a step-granddaughter Joyce Dornon and a step-great-grandson Heath Harrington. The family wishes to thank all of the wonderful staff at Elizabeth Care Center for their loving care of "Grandma". A graveside service will be held conducted at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, by Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc. , Grantsville, WV, with Rev. Harry Drake officiating. Goldie Gay Rush, 91, of Minnora, WV, was peacefully called to her heavenly home on November, 22, 2023, with her husband William Rush by her side. She was born December 31, 1931, at Arnoldsburg, WV, a daughter of the late William and Tilda May Cottrell. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one son William Robert Rush, Jr. and many siblings. Her memory will live on through her husband William Rush and children, two daughters, Geleana Collins (Billy Collins) and GlendaTalley (Doug Marks) and one son, Richard Talley, grandchildren, Jeremy Lopez, Melissa Arellano, Dustin Adkins, Dillon Adkins, Dalton Tabor, Timothy Murphy, Cody Collins, Coltin Collins, Brooklyn Arnold, Curtis Talley, Samantha Loyd, two step-grandchildren Deidre Gumm and Derek Brannon, many great- grandchildren and those that she loved and accepted as grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Goldie loved her family, friends, and the Lord with all her heart . She loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, goldpanning , metal detecting , collecting dolls, beanie babies, and tending to her flowers. She left a legacy of wisdom, love, and especially kindness for all to follow. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc. , Arnoldsburg, WV, at 2:00 p. m. , with Pastor Richie Propst officiating. Colleen B. Duskey passed away Oct. 12, 2023, at Minnie Hamilton Health System. She was 96 years and six days old. She was born Oct. 6, 1927, on Hog Knob, WV, the daughter of Howard and Madge E. (Peninger) Burns. She lived her entire life on Hog Knob and was a 1944 graduate of Calhoun High School. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one son George Howard Duskey (stillborn) and her brother Robert Eugene Burns, ex-husband George Duskey, Jr. , and special friend Russell Burrows, sister-in-law Dollie Gillespie, and nephew James Duskey. She is survived by a son Robert Gaylen Duskey (Barbara) of Grantsville and stepdaughter Betty Jones of Akron. Grandchildren Kimberly Burrows (Brian) of Grantsville and Cynthia Starcher (David) of Belpre, Ohio. Great grandchildren Elizabeth Duskey of Spencer and Christopher Kirkland, Madison Allman, Preston Allman, Katelynn Allman and Jonathan Allman all of Belpre, Ohio and great-great grandchildren Aeris and Arwen Green of Spencer and Hayden Stump of Ecclesfield, N. C. , and nieces and nephews Virginia Whytsell, Beverly Carpenter, Jerry Duskey, Robert Burns Jr. , Donna Stucker. Linda Lowe and James Gillespie and many great-grand nieces and nephews.
