Kenneth Wayne Pommier

Kenneth Wayne Pommier was born on September 16, 1932 in Portal, North Dakota. His family moved to Minot, North Dakota where he attended school until he graduated from Minot High School in 1950. At Minot High, he was Class President, the first male cheerleader and courted the Majorette/Homecoming Queen on his Indian motorcycle. He attended the University of Minnesota for 2 years before he joined the Naval Airforce for 4 years. He was a Radioman on Jacksonville Commander’s Airplane and it was there that he married his high school sweetheart (the Homecoming Queen) and love of his life, Isabella Barbara Bickler. After, he was stationed in Newfoundland and Iceland at six-month intervals, as well as the Caribbean for six months. Jacksonville is where their first child was born, Jeffrey Wayne. They then moved to St. Paul, Minnesota where Ken worked for Remington Rand Univac as a Tech Writer for computers. There, their second child was born, Kimberly Jo. On to Phoenix, Arizona where Ken worked 5 years for General Electric, installing computers along the coast of California in the Bank of America branches. Their third child was born, Michelle Yvonne, after which they moved to Tustin, California where he did animation for Disneyland at Astrodata. From there he drove his family across the country to Weston, Connecticut to turn around businesses with long-time friend, Robert Baker. Ken ran a glass decorating company in Hamden, Connecticut named Vitreon. Ken and Bob became quite a powerful team revamping receiver-owned companies from start to finish. The final cross-country move was to Encinitas, California to start his own business, Audiometrics, selling hearing testing equipment for almost 35 years. He was very proud of his family business as his wife and all three children worked alongside of him and grew the business together. Ken and Izz traveled the world together in style towards the end of his career and into retirement. They visited many countries and took several cruises with friends and family members. The two retired in Solana Beach, California where they have resided for 31 years. They celebrated 70 years of marriage in July of 2023 and their love was still obviously strong and ever present to the end, even to strangers. He passed peacefully in his home the evening of December 22nd with Isabella by his side, just the way he told her he wanted. A cross between Foster Brooks and The Most Interesting Man in the World, Ken was a striking man. A head of hair most men were jealous of (and 70 years of haircuts from Izz). He was always the life of the party and lit up any room he entered. A prolific writer, story and joke teller who wouldn’t accept a wine pour unless it was filled to the brim. He was good at anything he tried from sports to fixing things. He was creative and artistic. He loved motorcycles, fishing, but mostly looked forward to quality time boating each summer with his family in Big Bear Lake. Ken led an incredibly enriching life. He taught immeasurable life lessons to his children, relatives, friends, employees and even momentary acquaintances. He was an excellent listener, insightful, and helped anyone troubleshoot through difficult situations. He showed us all how to be better people. He was a class-act and revered by many. Ken Pommier was truly one of a kind, a real mensch, and will continue to be looked up to and adored. Above all, his plethora of “Ken-isms” will live on and continue to be quoted for years to come. Love you more, K.P. and touched you last…! Family Survivors: Spouse, Isabella Pommier; Son, Jeffrey (Nancy) Pommier; Daughters, Kimberly (Jeffrey) Danhauer and Michelle Pommier; Grandsons, Tatum (Laura) Danhauer and Neil Pommier; Granddaughters, Monica (Timothy) Grubin and Cameron Foutch; Great Grandsons, Nicholas Demarest, Grayson Grubin and Deklan Grubin; Great Granddaughters, Reese Danhauer and Lane Danhauer; Nephews, Mike (Gerry) Linster; Butch (Sandy) Linster and Bill Linster; Nieces, Diane (Greg) Johnson, Brenda (Randy) Jarmin, Patty Linster, Caryn (Cordell) Wold and Judy (David) Bryant.
