John Joseph Sayre of Langhorne, Pennsylvania passed away at home with his loving family by his side on September 9, 2023. John was 91 years old and was born at home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late William J. and Anna J. Sayre(Janiec). While attending Langhorne Middletown High School John met the love of his life, and his future wife Lillian M. Sayre (Irwin). John and Lillian loved each other so much they attempted to get married three separate times, finally succeeded by tying the knot on Bastille Day, 1952 in Belair, MD. John's lifetime love, Lillian was called to the Lord in 2016. At Lillian's passing the teenagers that fell in love in high school had been married for 64 years. Together John and Lillian forged a lifetime of memories, making their home in Langhorne for 60 years, previously living in Levittown and Virginia Beach, VA. Ballroom dancing, traveling, and genealogy were favorite pastimes for the couple. John and Lillian particularly enjoyed taking cruises as well as visiting the New Jersey shore, Ireland and the United Kingdom. John was a proud veteran of the US Navy serving on aircraft carriers, most notably CV-43, USS Coral Sea(Air Group 8). John enjoyed talking about the various Mediterranean cruises he had been deployed on during his time in the navy. John worked for thirty plus years at US Steel in Fairless Hills and upon his retirement worked with Educational Testing Service for another ten years. He finally retired altogether to focus on Lillian and her health concerns and to spend more time together in their later years. Another passion of John's was his house and lawn. He was the consummate lawn care specialist. He continued to mow his own lawn with a push mower up through his 90th year. Finally after his 91st birthday he purchased a zero-turn mower so that he could continue to manage and care for his immaculate lawn. He was diligent about the upkeep of his house and always made sure it was tidy, neat, with nothing out of order. John would never hesitate to visit JB Dawson's in Langhorne to get a good steak dinner. Many times you could find him in booth 42 with a smile on his face. John loved to hear from his grandchildren and great grandchildren who referred to him as "Poppy" or "Grandpop". He collected artwork or pictures sent to him and happily displayed them around his house. A children's book was written by Julie, one of his granddaughters entitled "The Great Poppy" that documented in a humorous manner John's life and loves, notably Lillian. John is survived by his three loving children and their spouses, Lisabeth A. Powelson(Sayre) and Dr. Robert Powelson, Ronald M. Sayre and Paula C. Sayre(Freiler), and Brian G. Sayre and Jill E. Sayre(Magaw). John is also survived by his seven grandchildren Amy Patrick(Powelson) and Derek Patrick, Julie Tennent(Powelson) and Rev. Andrew Tennent, Zachary Sayre and Korin Sayre(Kinmonth), Bronwyn Sayre, Lily Sayre, Audrey Sayre, and Rory Sayre. John was also blessed with four great grandchildren Luna Tennent, Reid Patrick, Esther Tennent, and Colton Sayre. John will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Relatives and friends are invited to John's Life Celebration Visitation on Saturday, September 16th from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm at St. James Episcopal Church, 330 S. Donna Leah Williams, aged 74, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of November 15th, 2023 at St. Mary's Hospital in Langhorne, Pa. after a prolonged illness. Donna was born on November 7, 1949 in New Brunswick, NJ to Joseph and Patricia McPherson. She was the youngest of three children born to Joseph and Patricia. Her older brother is named William (Bill) and her older sister is named Sandra (Sandy). She married the love of her life, Roy E. Williams, Jr of Edison, NJ. Donna and Roy had one daughter, Heather, who they both loved dearly. After graduating from High School, Donna started her professional career in a local bank, then moved onto a position with a real estate development firm. At the time of her marriage, she served as an executive secretary at IBM. After marrying, Donna and Roy started their life together in Milltown, NJ, the town in which Donna grew up. In 1986 after searching for their first home, they bought a townhome in the Newtown Grant Development. Then in 1992 they moved to a single-family home in the Fawn Hollow section of the development. Moving to Newtown was one of the best decisions they had ever made. It was here that they raised Heather on a safe, close-knit cul-de-sac comprised of young families like themselves. Donna flourished in Newtown. She served as a class mother at Sol Feinstone Elementary and made lifelong friends with many, including Heather's teachers, other parents and many of the people that worked in the shops that she often frequented. After Heather left for college, Donna took several jobs at local area salons. As was usually the case, Donna formed close-knit friendships with her co -workers and so many of their clients. There was never anyone quicker to send a friend a card or a note in her beautiful handwriting. She never forgot friends' milestones, holidays or other important moments. This is the way she expressed her love. Donna was also a very active member of the Newtown United Methodist Church for many years. Her faith was extremely important to her. It formed the open and giving way in which, she treated those around her. She loved the church and the many church members she came to know over the years. It was only after her diagnosis of leukemia that she was forced to stop attending services. She missed it deeply. Despite her illness, Donna and Roy spent their retirement years just the way they had always dreamed - with the family they loved, neighbors who enriched her life and the many friends she had made in the town they grew to love. Her family and her friends are filled with wonderful memories of Donna. The things she said and did, the stories she shared, the simple everyday things that are shared between friends and family. And always in the high heels she loved to wear! Donna was universally thought of as simply one of the kindest and gentlest persons that most came to know. There really is no better way to be remembered. Donna is survived by her husband Roy, her daughter Heather, her son in law Woody, and her amazing grandson Owen. She made a telling mark on all of us. She will be deeply missed by Roy, Heather and her extended family and friends. She lived a rich life!
