Pastor John Edward Love, 81, of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 Celebration of Life Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Trinity Fellowship Church, 5000 Hollywood Rd in the West Auditorium, with Pastor Kyle Wilkinson and Pastor Bo Williams officiating The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Friday, October 13, 2023 at Trinity Fellowship Church in the Student Ministries Building John was born December 30, 1941 in Cleburne, Texas to Frank and Emma Lee Love He graduated from Cleburne High School and earned a bachelor degree from Texas Tech University John married the love of his life Kathryne Larsen, "Kathy", on September 2, 1967 in Pampa, Texas Together, they raised three children, and enjoyed 56 years of marriage John worked at Cal Farley's Boy's Ranch for 19 years before being called to the ministry While at Boy's Ranch, John wore many hats He was a donor liaison and worked in the accounting department; but his favorite role may have been playing Santa Claus John and Kathy were founding members of Trinity Fellowship Church in 1977 John was called in to full-time ministry at the church in 1987, and he never looked back In his typical fashion, John went all in and served in many capacities at the church He helped start home groups, now known as small groups, as well as helping to start the Trinity Fellowship Christian School He officiated many weddings and funerals over the years John retired from his full-time position at the church in 2014, but never stopped giving of his time He would drop everything if someone needed his help John's passion was studying about Israel, where he had the opportunity to visit nine times He was an avid reader and enjoyed learning about history He loved "wine Wednesdays" with his granddaughters John adored his wife Kathy and his family meant everything to him He had a genuine love for people, and connected with most everyone he ever met He was a friend to many, and will be greatly missed John was preceded in death by his parents Survivors include his wife, Kathy Love; a son, Johnny Love (Erin) of Amarillo; two daughters, Amy Allen (Michael) of Wichita Falls, TX, and Heather Schrader (Erik) of Amarillo; two sisters, Patricia Cowan of Arlington, TX and Barbara Love of Ft Worth; nine grandchildren, Bailey Wise (Colton), Ally Beth Cawthron (Cy), Emmy Schniederjan (Trenton Vanhuss), Emmett Schniederjan (McKenzie Carroll), David Love, John Love, Barrett Love, Eian Schrader and Kailee Schrader; a great-granddaughter, Blakely Rose; and Baby Wise on the way Survivors also include many nieces, nephews and other family members The family suggests memorials may be made to One for Israel, @ www oneforisrael com

Jo Beth was born on August 12, 1952 in Amarillo to Billy and Sally Oakley. She was raised in Amarillo, where she graduated from Tascosa High School. She later attended Amarillo College, where she received her Associate's Degree in Science. Jo Beth had a servant's heart, caring for her family and even strangers. She used her degree and skills to care for others, first through her employment at Child Protective Services and later through TPMHMR, where she was the head of the PAC team and worked in home care. She was instrumental in establishing the lunch held yearly at the Big Texan for the mentally disabled as well as the holiday Giving Tree and Toys for Tots. She worked for the TDCJ as a guard in Dalhart for a few years. Jo Beth was an example to others of generosity and selfless giving. Her family continues to benefit from her persistence in registering for their tribal benefits, one of her many selfless acts. Her family will remember her love of the holidays and her elaborately decorated yard that even won 1st prize for best decorated yard at Halloween. Her grandchildren will always cherish memories of "hunting for treasures" with their MeMe. Jo Beth enjoyed thrift shopping with her friend Judy Burgess and gardening. Most of all, she loved her family. She is survived by her daughter, Stefanie Dawn Fancher; son, Christopher Dylan Fancher; 2 sisters, Sally Kay Sidman and husband, Bobby and Billie Ann Gotcher and husband Wayne and 2 grandchildren, Addison Elizabeth Gambrell and Clayton Wade Gambrell and fiance Alyssa O'Connor, all of Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Billy Roy Oakley and John Charles Oakley.Show more

Barcine N. Smith, 81, of Amarillo, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Barcine was born on August 24, 1942, in Pampa, Texas to Barcie and Juanita Lester. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1960. Barcine's grace, elegance, and tenacity earned her a place in the Miss Amarillo pageant in 1960. She continued her education at Amarillo College and then Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. She married Calvin Smith on August 3, 1963 in Amarillo. Her entrepreneurial journey began in 1974 when she and her husband founded Omega Electronics in Amarillo. Barcine dedicated herself to the company's growth, ultimately operating it for over 32 years. Her tireless efforts left an indelible mark on the industry they served. Her family extends a special thank you to Steve and Kelly Bernhardt for continuing the legacy of Omega Electronics. Beyond her professional achievements, Barcine was a collector of classic cars, and a proud member of the High Plains Thunderbird Car Club. She was an active member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church for many years. Her faith guided her throughout her life, offering her strength and grace in times of need. Barcine was an avid reader and rock collector. She also enjoyed traveling and had been to Alaska, New Zealand, Australia, Scotland and her most favorite place was Ireland. She is predeceased by her precious dog Bridget and survived by her loving dogs Sassy and Dutchess. Her family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the West Lake Hills Belmont Village Senior Living home and Magnolia Hospice Austin for their wonderful care and support of Barcine during this past year. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Calvin Cecil Smith. Survivors include a daughter, Cherie Barnes and husband Terry of Austin, TX; a son, Eric Smith and wife Rita of Pueblo West, CO; two grandsons, Timothy Barnes and Matthew Barnes; and her dearest cousin Raylene Robinson of Amarillo, TX. Sharon B. Wassom, 79, of Amarillo, TX died Thursday, December 7, 2023. Services will be at 1:00 p. m. , Monday, December 11, 2023, in the chapel at First Baptist Church, with Darrell Burton officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p. m. , in the Quitaque Cemetery in Quitaque, TX. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Sharon was born March 23, 1944, in Plainview, Texas. She lived in and loved Quitaque, Texas and graduated from Quitaque High School in 1962. She attended Wayland Baptist College for 1 1/2 years and married Joel Wassom March 28, 1964. They had 4 children. Sharon later attended Amarillo College and was a nurse at NWTH for 25 years. Sharon loved the Lord and her church, First Baptist Church Amarillo. She spent her last months at Ware Memorial, where she shared her smile and quick wit with her loving caregivers. She was a good friend, strong shoulder, loving mother, sister, and daughter. She will be greatly missed. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, James (Bud) and Charlie Bailey. Sharon is survived by her children, Joel Wassom (Diana) of Idalou, Lourie Winegar (Tommy) of Lubbock, Angela Clark (Calvin) of Grapevine, James Wassom (Jenny) of Quantico, Virginia; grandchildren Kaitlyn and Devin Wassom, Cameron and Cody Winegar, Blaine Leewright, Bailey Bailey, Jackson and Cooper Wassom; great-grandchildren Ethan, Bentlee and Ellie; sisters, Charlene Rothwell (Gordon) and Janet Bailey; and nieces, nephews, and great-nephews.Show more

Jonathan Lee Griego or as many of us knew him as "Jono", was born to Roni Guillen and Larry Griego, on October 29, 1979, in Amarillo, Texas, Jono passed on from this life on December 5, 2023. Jono was a graduate of Caprock High School. Jono was an important team member of the Market Street Deli for 7 years. Jono lived to cheer on his Eagles and never missed a beat to give all the Cowboy Fans a hard time. Just as much as Jono loved to give his family a hard time about the Dallas Cowgirls, Jono looked forward to receiving the same banter from them about his Eagles. Jono was an avid fan of all things from the Jordan brand. Jono never passed on a chance to get a new pair of Jordan's, nor did he ever pass on a chance to show them off. Jono had an infectious smile that made him loveable to everyone that he came across. Never having met a stranger, Jono had many of friends, and even more cousins that he claimed throughout the community whether they were kin or not. Jono was preceded in death by his grandmother, Anita Alcala "Momo"; grandparents, David and Carolina Griego; his uncles, Phillip Alcala and Tony Griego; his aunt, Victoria Griego; and cousins, Rigo Mendoza, and JoJo Griego. Jono is survived by his mom, Roni Guillen and her husband Jessie; his dad, Larry Griego and his wife Clarissa; his brother, Damian Alcala of Amarillo, TX; sisters, Heather Ramirez and her husband Eddie, of Amarillo, TX, and Candace Zerger and her husband Lance of Yukon, Oklahoma; his stepbrothers, Mathew Mitchell of Amarillo, TX, Michael Mitchell and his wife Traci of Amarillo, TX, and Marshall Mitchell and his wife Kimra of Amarillo, TX; his step-sister Megan Mitchell of Amarillo, TX. Jono was a very proud uncle of his nephew, Anthony Olmos, nieces, Nevaeh Griego, Arianna Olmos, Mariah Martinez, Clairynna Mascorro, and Avah Alcala, and many more nephews and nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces. Betty Ann Hopper, 97, of Amarillo, TX died Sunday, December 3, 2023. Private services were held. Arrangements were by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Betty was born December 5, 1925, in Amarillo, TX to Clarence and Kathleen (Whittington) Long. Raised in Amarillo Betty graduated from Amarillo High in 1946. She attended and graduated from Colorado College in 1948. Betty married Samuel Edward Hopper in 1948 in Amarillo, Tx. Throughout their married life they raised 3 daughters, farmed and ranched, owned and operated multiple bowling alleys in Colorado and Texas. When they returned to farming and ranching she went to work for the Bailey County ASCS office in Muleshoe, Texas until returning to Amarillo. She was an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, DAR, PEO Chapter CM, Silver Strutters and volunteered many hours for Snack Pak 4 Kids, Wounded Warriors, Veterans, and Cancer Patients, RSVP Services for Senior Citizens, Accent Hospice Care, and the food pantry at Trinity Lutheran Church. She was widely traveled and had an adventurous life. Her greatest joys were the family legacy she leaves to carry on. She was preceded in death by her husband Sam Hopper; parents C. O. Long and Kathleen Long Hagaman who were pioneers of the Texas Panhandle. Survivors include three daughters, Sandi and husband Al Lacaze of Keller, Tx; Nancy and husband Carroll Freeman of San Angelo, Tx; Janet and husband Scott Elliott of Amarillo, Tx; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and many wonderful friends to complete a well lived life. Busco la amera de sacar adelante a su familia a raiz de su accidente. Fue una persona muy trabajadora dando ejemplo a todos, fue una persona amable. Le encantaba salir y sentarse afuera de su casa y no faltaba quien llegara acompanarlo y platicar con el. Nosotros como sus hijos podriamos decir mil cosas buenas de el, pero lo reducimos en un padre que nos cuido, nos dio mucho amor y muchas ensenanzas; nos guio por el mejor camino que el pudo. Gracias Dios por darnos un padre como el y por permitirnos tenerlo todos estos anos. Nos reconforta saber que ahora ya esta en un lugar mejor. !Mi amado esposo! Nos conocimos de toda la vida. Marijane Ballard, of Amarillo died Sunday, December 3, 2023, just five days short of her 96th birthday. Celebration of life will be at a later date. Marijane, "Janie", was born Dec. 8, 1927 to Emma Dymond Long and Paul Chancellor Long in Wilmington, Ohio. She grew up with her two brothers, Paul and George in Xenia, Ohio. In high school she met the love of her life, Robert E. Ballard. They were married on July 3, 1948, and moved to Tempe, Arizona. There she graduated from Arizona Teacher's College (now ASU) with a Bachelor of Science and eventually decided to become a teacher. For the next 30 years she taught 6th grade at Madison Rose Lane and Madison Park Schools in Phoenix, Arizona and was loved by students and parents alike. Always ready to travel, Janie did just that. She and Bob were fortunate enough to travel around the world. But what she loved the most was spending summers in the White Mountains of Arizona. She and Bob built a summer home in Pinetop where they resided every summer for 38 years. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, and playing golf. She loved to collect Native American jewelry and artwork, and volunteered as a docent for the Heard Museum in Phoenix. In 2004, Janie and Bob wanted to be closer to their daughters and moved to Amarillo. They became members of the Home Builders Sunday school class at Polk Street United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Sheryl L. Williams and Nancy A. Lopez and three granddaughters, Leanna M. Lopez, Dr. Jessica D. Marshall-Williams and Emily S. Williams.
