John Anthony Lavorante, age 87, of Lynnfield, died peacefully on Saturday, June 18, 2022. He was the husband of Carolyn B. (Ganci) Lavorante, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. Born and raised in West Lynn, he was the son of the late Saverio and Anne (Pepe) Lavorante. He attended Lynn Public Schools. John proudly served in the United States Army and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2346, Saugus. He worked as a mechanic for the United States Postal Service in Lynn for many years until his retirement. Some of the things he loved were traveling with his wife and friends, and tending to his home and vegetable gardens. He enjoyed outdoor activities, family camping trips, skiing, and golf. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren and never missed one of their events. He was an avid New England sports fan. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children John Lavorante, Jr. and his wife Theresa of Salem, Debra Johnson and her husband Neal of Lynn, and Richard Lavorante and his wife Erin of Peabody. His grandchildren Sarah and her life partner Jarrid, Zachary and his life partner Mikaela, Cameron, Dominic, Regina, Mars, Mave and Maggie. His great-grandchildren Nathan, John, Daniel, Ramsay, and Rosalee. His brother Daniel and his wife Gilda Lavorante and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Angelina "Angie" Lezzelle, Antoinette "Etta" DiPietro, Philomena "Minnie" Kachocki, Jean DiPietro, and Rose DiPietro. Funeral services will begin on Friday at 11 A. M. from the Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Rt. 129), Lynn followed by a memorial Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church at 12 P. M. Entombment in the family mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Lynn will follow. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Memorial visitation will be on Thursday from 3 - 7 P. M.
