Liliana Rosa

Liliana Rosa

Age - 90

Lil entered heaven on November 27, 2023 at the age of 90. Predeceased by her husband Piacentino and her longtime partner Don Lucas. Loving mother of Patrizia and Marina. Cherished Nonna to Stephen, Bob, Jason, Christopher and Emily and great grandmother to Steven, Robert, Tailor, William and Stella. Beloved sister of Elsa, Iva and Tonino (Vincenzina) and is predeceased by her brothers-in-law Evandro and Saverio. Lil will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends in Italy and Canada. Lil was born in a small town in Italy called Opi. She and her identical twin sister caused quite a sensation as they were the first set of twins to be born there. In 1955, she immigrated to Canada to start a new life with her husband and young daughter, Patrizia. They settled in Hamilton where they welcomed a second daughter, Marina. Lil's greatest joy was her family. She was happiest when preparing a large meal and having the whole family gathered around the table. She was an amazing cook, and no one comes close to duplicating her lasagna or tiramisu. She was the ultimate hostess, welcoming everyone into her home with a glass of wine, a plate of food, an assortment of cookies and a cup of espresso coffee. Lil had the most generous and loving heart. If someone was ill, she was making soup for them, if it was someone's birthday, anniversary, baby or bridal shower she was baking a cake or a tray of cookies. Lil worked as a waitress at The Trocadero for many years. She was always ready with a joke, happy to accommodate a special request or to add a personal touch to their order. She loved her customers and they, in turn, adored her. They would ask for Lil's table and if she didn't have an open table, they would wait rather than be seated elsewhere. Lil was a devout Catholic with unwavering faith in God. She was actively involved in the church and would often go to daily mass, finding comfort and solace in prayer. We have no doubt that she is currently in heaven surrounded by God's love and reunited with family and friends who greeted her upon arrival, hopefully with a cup of espresso. Visitation at the MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth), Hamilton on Sunday, December 3, 2023 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 10 am. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hamilton Food Share, Bob Kemp Hospice or your favourite charity would be appreciated.Show more
